Cane has two missions on The Young and the Restless. He wants to achieve control against power players, including Victor, and he wants to mend his fractured relationship with his children, Mattie and Charlie. But how can Cane do the latter if Charlie and Mattie aren't around?
The Young and the Restless, Charlie and Mattie's whereabouts

Both Lily (Christel Khalil) and Cane (Billy Flynn) comment often on Cane's relationship with his children, Charlie and Mattie, last played, respectively, by Noah Alexander Gerry and Lexie Stevenson.
The kids, who we're guessing are either out of college or wrapping up their higher education around now, feel betrayed because they didn't know their dad spent the last several years using an alias and amassing a fortune. However, it's difficult to truly connect with what Charlie and Mattie may be feeling because they're not on the canvas right now.
For a show that has always valued the presence of younger characters (the show is called The Young and the Restless!), Gerry and Stevenson were criminally underused during their time in Genoa City. We remember them being trapped in a room during a fire along with Reed (Tristan Lake Lebeau), but they came up empty in terms of love triangles, social issue stories, and other standard soap opera fare.
Casting call

Gerry and Stevenson have continued to act since leaving Y&R. He has recurred on Station 19 as Joey Phillips. She starred as Kate in the 2023 TV movie Love at First Lie opposite Greg Kriek (Wanted: Dead or Alive). Both could be tapped to rejoin the top-rated soap to play out current dynamics.
Maybe Mattie won't have an issue with Cane's recent behavior? Or there's potential that Charlie won't mind having a dad for a billionaire? Bringing Mattie and Charlie back is a win/win for Y&R. If his children reject him, Cane can become bitter and try to take over the world. If Mattie and Charlie accept him, then Cane can put that conflict to rest and go back to working on world domination.
One or another scenario needs to unfold. Until such time, Cane's just going to be talking about his concerns and not doing anything about them. If he has trouble convincing his kids to visit him, he could always employ that fancy AI software to make it happen!
