Sherwood speaks out on Y&R firing

Recently deposed Y&R starlet Davetta Sherwood (Lily Winters) is speaking out about the recent turn of events that effectively had her fired from the top-rated CBS soap. Earlier this month, Soap Central first reported that Christel Khalil would be returning to resume playing Lily.

"I have yet to be informed of the 'reasoning behind this firing' [..] nor have I been informed by anyone at CBS. My agent told me. I suppose that bothers me and I don't think it's right or fair," Sherwood said in a post on her MySpace page.

Sherwood learned on September 26 that had been let go. In remarks made by the actress on her Internet site, Sherwood seemed to imply that she had been getting the cold should from the cast and crew - perhaps a precursor to her eventual dismissal.

"I have to admit, I took a deep breath when I got the news that I would no longer have to hurt [before] and after work because of the lack of love flowing in the studio," Sherwood wrote. "The sigh of relief quickly turned into a cry...tears when I checked [my] mail and looked at message boards. You all really love me!"

However, Sherwood has since explained that her Internet posting came at a time when she was still very much stinging from her firing.

"The people at Y&R are great. They are beautiful people with beautiful families," Sherwood stated. "We all know what can happen when good people get frustrated in tense situations."

Sherwood is already involved in at least one post-Y&R production. She will appear in the film, A Talent for Trouble, which is currently in production.

Khalil started taping scenes at Y&R on September 28th. Show sources hint that the show may backtrack and retape some scenes in which Sherwood appeared. Because of these possible changes, first and final airdates have not yet been announced by CBS.Photo: Dan J Kroll/Soap Central
