Debbi Morgan's time on Y&R coming to an end

A third leading lady has been cut from The Young and the Restless this week. Emmy winner Debbi Morgan has announced that she will tape her final Y&R scenes next month. Morgan joined the show in 2011 after the conclusion of All My Children.

The list of firings at The Young and the Restless continues to grow. Emmy winner Debbi Morgan (Harmony Hamilton) revealed on Twitter that she has been let go.

"To all my twitter fans," Morgan posted on Twitter. "Wanted to B the first to tell you the new regime has let me go from Y&R. Will tape my last show Oct. 5th & I move on!"

Morgan joined the cast of Y&R after ABC canceled its long-running soap, All My Children. Ironically, Morgan's move to Genoa City was announced on the same day that ABC revealed it had reached a licensing deal to allow production of All My Children to continue online. That deal eventually fell through.

Though Morgan's signing was one of the highest-profile of displaced All My Children stars, Morgan's Y&R persona really failed to catch fire in storyline.

While Morgan will be forever known to daytime viewers as Angie, it's not the only daytime role she's played. After leaving AMC in 1990, Morgan headed to Generations. She remained there for about a year. In 1997 and 1998, Morgan tackled the role of tough-as-nails Dr. Ellen Burgess on General Hospital's spinoff, Port Charles. Morgan also made occasional appearances on GH. Morgan also appeared on The Bold and the Beautiful over a six-month period that spanned from October 2006 to June 2007.

Morgan won an Outstanding Supporting Actress Daytime Emmy in 1989. She was nominated as Outstanding Ingénue in 1986, and Outstanding Lead Actress in 2009, 2011, and 2012.

A spokesperson for Y&R reminds that they do not comment on contracts.

Morgan's dismissal comes in a 24-hour span that also saw the firing of Genie Francis (Genevieve Atkinson) and Marcy Rylan (Abigail Newman). For more on Francis' firing, click here. To read more on Rylan's exit, click here.
