More details emerge on Y&R's new Reed

It turns out The Young and the Restless really has SORAS'd Victoria's son Reed. Find out what else to expect once newcomer Tristan Lake Leabu debuts in the role.

Fans haven't known quite what to think about The Young and the Restless recasting the role of Victoria's son Reed. It wasn't clear whether or not the soap chose to age the young character or if the show planned on filming scenes that took place in the future. But it turns out Reed has indeed been SORAS'd, with newcomer Tristan Lake Leabu set to portray the now teen character.

As Soap Central previously reported, a casting call went out in November for the character of Wes, a good-looking, willful, and sensitive teen who takes solace in playing his guitar. It turns out that character is actually Reed, who fans know is the son of Victoria (Amelia Heinle) and J.T. Hellstrom (Thad Luckinbill).

Serial Scoop reports an audition tape released on Vimeo (which has since been set to private viewing only) reveals that Reed -- who hasn't been seen on the canvas for quite some time -- runs away from Washington, DC, when he finds out his father is planning on moving to Warsaw. Reed reportedly wants to live in Genoa City and get to know his brother and sister better, but Victoria reminds him that J.T. has custody, and staying put in GC won't be possible. Mother and son fight over the teen's reckless choice of running away, prompting Reed to run off after yelling that maybe his mother just doesn't know him anymore. He later comes back to apologize, which convinces Victoria to promise she'll talk with J.T. about allowing Reed to stay in town.

An additional scene on the audition tape reveals that Reed is no longer interested in playing baseball and instead would like to buy a guitar.

J.T. and Victoria's son was previously played by young actor Max Page, who hasn't been a part of the canvas since having to have heart surgery in 2012 and again in 2015.
