The Young and the Restless is continuing its music-industry focus with the addition of Chase Coleman (ex-Garrett, One Life to Live) as a recording artist with a connection to someone in Genoa City.

A new character is headed to The Young and the Restless, and things are about to get interesting...

According to Soap Opera Digest, former One Life to Live star Chase Coleman (ex-Garrett) has signed on to the CBS soap opera as Tanner Watts, a recording artist who shares a past with a mystery someone in Genoa City.

"I am so excited for 2020! Great things are happening and I am being propelled by an amazing team," Coleman shared on Twitter. "Be sure to check me out on January 3rd, when I join the cast of @YRInsider"

Further details on Coleman's role remain scarce at this time, but viewers shouldn't expect to see Tanner for long, as the role is said to be short-term. That could change, however, if viewers react favorably.

In addition to starring on OLTL from 2006 to 2007, some of Coleman's other credits include The Originals, Vampire Diaries, Boardwalk Empire, In Between Men, and Aquarius.

Y&R viewers can look forward to Coleman's first appearance on Friday, January 3 -- barring any preemptions that might happen between now and then.

This article was updated to include Coleman's Twitter post.
