As the nation takes unprecedented steps to curb the spread of COVID-19, those steps now include halting production of CBS's The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful.

The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful have both opted to suspend production as part of a long-term plan to slow the spread of COVID-19, the novel Coronavirus.

According to Deadline, "The shutdown is effective Tuesday, March 17, as both series are dark on Mondays."

The current plan has both CBS soaps suspending production for two weeks. That could be extended, if needed. It is not currently expected that this production break will impact what viewers see on-screen. Both shows have about four to six weeks worth of episodes already filmed. New episodes will continue to air in the shows' regular time periods.

Last week, ABC's General Hospital became the first soap opera to announce that it would be stopping production through mid-April.

Days of our Lives is also dark for the foreseeable future.

The entertainment site TVLine has compiled a list of all of the programs currently suspending or delaying production.
