As Soap Central previously reported, Acapulco is a half-hour Spanish- and English-language comedy inspired by the 2017 film How to Be a Latin Lover, which starred Eugenio Derbez. Taking place in both 1984 and present day, the story follows a young Mexican man named Maximo (played by both Derbez and Enrique Arrizon) who lands the job of a lifetime as a cabana boy at the hottest resort in Acapulco. It's just too bad that the dream gig is a lot more than he bargained for, especially with the resort's CEO (Collins) in the mix!

Fortunately for fans, there won't be a long wait to see Collins in action in her new role as Acapulco's Diane. Apple announced that the ten-episode comedy series is set to premiere on Friday, October 8.

Collins got her start in the acting world playing the role of Loving's Dinah Mayberry from 1991 to 1994, which she also played on All My Children in 1992. She went on to appear on shows like Beverly Hills, 90210, American Dreams, and Big Shots before landing the role of Y&R's Avery in 2011. The New York native decided to leave the CBS soap opera in 2015 but briefly returned to the genre to attend the 2016 Daytime Emmy Awards, where she won the gold in the Outstanding Supporting Actress category. Since then, she has starred in the film Dolly Parton's Heartstrings and has made guest appearances on shows such as 9-1-1, Grey's Anatomy, and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
