Tons of foreign soap opera stars make their way to daytime shows in the US, but it's not very often that you hear of actors who've made their mark in the US return to soaps in another country. But Tammin Sursok is now the exception!
The South African-born actress, who began her career on the Australian soap Home and Away before she found fame in America, playing The Young and the Restless' Colleen Carlton, is currently filming a guest-starring arc on the Australian show Neighbours. According to Daily Mail, Sursok has temporarily relocated to Melbourne from her home in Queensland to complete six weeks of filming, due to wrap in March.
Sursok revealed on Instagram that she was preparing to embark upon a 17-hour road trip to Melbourne with her film producer husband, Sean McEwen, and their daughters, Phoenix, eight, and Lennon, two. She didn't reveal the reason why in that post, but she later confirmed that the road trip was indeed for a cameo role on Neighbours, which she calls "a little gig before my next show."
In subsequent Instagram Stories, Sursok shared an image of a Neighbours script and a behind-the-scenes glimpse of a wardrobe fitting. She also gave a subtle tease about her new alter ego: "Obsessed with this character," she wrote. "So much fun."
As for whether or not fans might see Sursok return to Home and Away, the actress revealed in a New Idea interview last year that she would happily go back if she was asked to return for a short-term stint as her former character, Dani Sutherland.
"I would do a cameo for the fans for sure," she said. "It's where I started and what gave me everything in my career -- if it wasn't for that show, I don't know where my life would've gone."
Sursok played Y&R's Colleen from 2007 to 2009. After departing Genoa City, she went on to star in Hannah Montana, Aussie Girl, and Pretty Little Liars. She moved back to Australia in 2020.
