MASH star Sally Kellerman, who played the guest-starring role of Constance Bingham on The Young and the Restless, has died. The California native was 84.

Sally Kellerman, best known for her portrayal of U.S. Army Maj. Margaret "Hot Lips" Houlihan in Robert Altman's classic 1970 film M*A*S*H, passed away on February 24 at the age of 84. According to Deadline, the actress died of dementia complications at an assisted-living facility in Woodland Hills, California.

Kellerman's career lasted more than 60 years and included a number of major films and television series. Some of those include Brewster McCloud, Ready to Wear, The Player, Welcome to L.A., Last of the Red Hot Lovers, Slither, The April Fools, and Back to School, as well as Star Trek, The Twilight Zone, Bonanza, and The Outer Limits.

The California native made her soap opera debut in 2014, when she was cast in the guest-starring role of Constance Bingham on The Young and the Restless. As fans may recall, Adam Newman (then played by Justin Hartley) had reconstructive surgery and began impersonating a man named Gabriel with his new looks; Gabriel was Constance's grandson. Kellerman received a Daytime Emmy Award nomination in the category of Outstanding Special Guest Performer in a Drama Series for her work during the brief story arc.

Following her passing, the official Y&R Twitter account posted, "Our condolences to the loved ones of Sally Kellerman who graced #YR with her talents as Constance Bingham."

Kellerman was born on June 2, 1937, in Long Beach, CA. Her family later moved Los Angeles, where Kellerman became interested in acting after starring in a Hollywood High School production of Meet Me in St. Louis. She attended Los Angeles City College and enrolled in acting classes, after which she joined a stage production of Look Back in Anger that featured Jack Nicholson, Dean Stockwell, and Robert Blake.

Over the course of her long career, Kellerman earned recognition at many awards shows. In addition to her 2015 Daytime Emmy nomination, she nabbed an Oscar nomination for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her work on MASH, as well as nominations for a Golden Globe and the Kansas City Film Critics Circle award for Best Supporting Actress.

The actress married producer Jonathan D. Krane in 1980; he predeceased her. Kellerman is survived by her son, Jack Crane. Memorial information has yet to be announced.
