Jordi Vilasuso exits The Young and the Restless

Jodi Vilasuso's time as The Young and the Restless' Rey Rosales has come to an end, with the actor expressing that his time on the CBS soap gave him some of "the highlights of my career in this genre."

He was the last man standing from The Young and the Restless' Rosales family, and now he's about to exit the building. Jordi Vilasuso has wrapped his time as Sharon's husband, Rey Rosales.

"Playing Rey Rosales on The Young and the Restless for the past four years has been an incredible experience that has brought me immense joy as an actor," the actor said in a statement to Soap Opera Digest. "Thank you to [head writer/co-executive producer] Josh Griffith, who gave me the opportunity to sink my teeth into storylines that were some of the highlights of my career in this genre. Thank you to Sharon Case [Sharon Newman] and the rest of the cast for their craft, support, and professionalism."

He continued, "The show has been number one and continues to be because of the incredible work ethic and passion from its leadership, cast, production, and crew. I will miss it, remember it fondly, and look forward to what the next chapter will be!"

Vilasuso also wrote about his exit on Instagram, sharing, "Playing Rey Rosales and being part of the Rosales family was a beautiful chapter in my career. I was proud to represent my culture on daytimes #1 drama and work with an incredible cast and crew that I will miss dearly. Thank you @youngandrestlesscbs for always welcoming me and giving me the opportunity to tell stories that impacted millions. As this door closes, others will and have opened. Some of the actor's Y&R co-stars weighed in with goodbyes following the news of his exit. "You are so amazing @jordivilasuso I can't wait to see what you do next!" wrote Tracey Bregman (Lauren Fenmore), while Melissa Ordway (Abby Newman) shared, "We love you and your beautiful family."

Vilasuso joined Y&R in 2018 as a member of the newly created Rosales family, who came to Genoa City under the direction of former head writer Mal Young. The first Rosales family member to arrive was Nikki's contractor, Arturo (Jason Canela), and it wasn't long before Arturo's siblings, Rey and Lola (Sasha Calle), and the family's matriarch, Celeste (Eva LaRue), followed.

Before landing in Y&R's Genoa City, Vilasuso played Dario Hernandez on Days of our Lives, Griffin Castillo on All My Children, and Tony Santos on Guiding Light. For his work on Guiding Light, Vilasuso was awarded the Outstanding Younger Actor award at the Daytime Emmys in 2003.
