Eric Braeden took to social media to inform fans that he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. The actor vowed to fight and be back in "top form again soon."

Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) has revealed that he has cancer. The long-time star of The Young and the Restless took to Facebook to share the news with fans.

In the video, the actor, who has been known to speak out about foreign and domestic policy, informed fans that he was going to be talking about himself. He went on to share that he "began to have problems" with his prostate while recovering from knee surgery earlier this year.

"I hate to be so personal, but I think this may be good for some older guys who may, or may not, listen to this," he said. "It'll happen to them."

Braeden stated that he had been experiencing painful and frequent urination. After seeing a few different doctors, he ultimately received a cancer diagnosis.

"Needless to say, I was taken aback, but I was determined to deal with it," Braeden said.

Braeden underwent surgery to remove the cancer. A biopsy was performed and revealed he had both high-grade and low-grade cancer cells. Braeden is undergoing a six-week immunotherapy treatment plan for the high-grade cancer. He will receive weekly infusions and has already received two.

The usually stoic Braeden became emotion near the end of his 13-minute video as he thanks fans for their unwavering support.

"I still am happy to be able to go work," Braeden said. "It distracts me. I love acting. I love knowing that I entertain people. And, yeah, I love your support. It means a lot."

Braeden vowed to continue working and promised he will be "in top form again soon." The actor also admitted that he has learned that he needs to "listen to [his] body."

Braeden informed fans that he had a "malignant tumor" removed from his bladder in March.

The prostate is a gland in the male reproductive system located just below the bladder.
