Phyllis asked Daniel and Summer to meet her at Society for dinner. Summer couldn't stop laughing at Phyllis' good mood. Daniel and Summer amused themselves by teasing Phyllis to get her riled up. Daniel said that he, Heather, and Lucy would leave town, and Phyllis freaked out. When he said he was kidding, Phyllis asked how he would like it if she did that to him. "Is she being serious right now?" Daniel asked Summer, which made his sister crack up even more.

Summer told Daniel and Phyllis how cute Harrison had looked on his first day at school, and she said she would put her son in the campaign if Marchetti had a kids' line. Phylis announced that she was the new COO at Abbott-Chancellor. Summer and Daniel hesitated to congratulate their mom. They both expressed their concern about Phyllis and Billy pairing up.

Phyllis said she was well aware of her professional and personal history with Billy. "Everyone is expecting us to mess up, and that pushes us all the more to be great. We will be great," Phyllis said confidently. Phyllis told Daniel that big things were coming at work and that she hoped to help him get his job back. Daniel said that could be good, but he had to leave to pick up Lucy.

Nick went to Sharon's to see if she had returned home yet. Only Faith was there, and she told him there had been no word. Faith admitted that she had run into Adam at the park and that she had told him what was happening with Sharon. Nick said that Adam had been there for Sharon when she had first been diagnosed. Faith said Adam had not heard from Sharon, but he had given her some advice. "He said to trust you to bring Mom home. He believes if anyone can help her, it's you," Faith said.

Mariah and Tessa arrived at Sharon's and confirmed that they had not heard from Sharon, either. Tessa suggested that they give Sharon the time and space she had requested. Nick said that Sharon wasn't herself.

Daniel surprised Lucy with a dessert treat after her shift doing community service in the Athletic Club's kitchen. Lucy wanted to pout, but Daniel won her over and made her smile. They talked about Heather and how she could be hard on Lucy. Daniel explained that Heather wanted Lucy to grow up to be responsible and compassionate.

Daniel told Lucy that he had spoken with Sharon and that she had apologized for her behavior. Lucy misunderstood that to mean that Faith and she could have a friendship. Daniel told her to wait and see how everything played out first. Lucy was dismayed, but Daniel assured her there would be nothing but good things ahead for all of them.

At Daniel's apartment, Sharon put the bottle of whiskey on the bar. She told herself that what she was doing was wrong, but Cameron said that for once in her life, she would have the satisfaction of knowing she was in control. Cameron insisted that the power would bring Sharon peace and that it was the solution she had been looking for.

Sharon looked at the bottle of poison and said she wasn't going to do it. Cameron told her that she would go back to having a life with just a few drops. "Daniel should have died, not Cassie, and it's time to balance those scales. Pour that son of a bitch his final drink!" Cameron growled.

Sharon realized that Heather or Lucy could drink the whiskey instead. Cameron said that Daniel hadn't been worried about collateral damage when Cassie had died. Cameron reminded Sharon of what it had been like for her to watch helplessly as the life had drained out of Cassie. Cameron said that he felt what Sharon felt, and all of her pain and loss was still inside. Sharon opened the bottle and dropped some poison into the whiskey.

Cameron commended Sharon as she put the whiskey back in the cabinet. She paused to stare at a picture of Daniel, Heather, and Lucy then looked at the cabinet. Recalling Daniel's heartfelt apology, Sharon second-guessed her plan. Cameron yelled at her to pull herself together and leave. He told Sharon that Daniel had been spared yet had done nothing with his life.

Sharon visualized Daniel lying on the ground after being poisoned and Heather and Lucy finding him. "This is madness," Sharon said. She told Cameron she should have never listened to him and that she had never wanted "this." "Only a sociopath would want this. I'm not going to take Daniel from Heather and Lucy the way that Cassie was taken from me. Cassie's death was an accident. This is murder," Sharon said. Sharon pushed Cameron out of her way and took the whiskey back out of the cabinet.

Cameron yelled at Sharon that the only reason they were there was because deep down, Sharon knew it was her only way out. Sharon said it would only cause more pain and grief, and she would never escape it. Sharon said that Cassie thought the world of Daniel. "If I murdered him, she would be ashamed of me, and I won't do this to her," Sharon said. Sharon told Cameron she was pouring out the poisoned whiskey. Cameron tried to stop her, and they wrestled against each other, knocking over a tray on the bar with a pitcher and glasses and shattering them on the floor.

Sharon poured out the whiskey in the bathroom and returned the empty bottle to the cabinet. She scooped up the broken glass, desperate to make everything right. Cameron stood by and told her she was weak and a coward. He told her she was "so close" to having it all again. Cameron said her thoughts wouldn't go away if he did. Sharon said she'd never wanted his help, and he brought out the worst in her.

Cameron said he gave Sharon the courage to have what she really wanted, but he would leave if she didn't want him around. Sharon told him to go away. She put the broken glass into the garbage can and the tray back up on the counter. Sharon pulled off her black gloves and put them in her pocket. When she opened the apartment door to leave, Heather was there.
