Welcome to The Young and the Restless Daily Y.A.P.P. (Your After-Program Ponderings) for a quick — and by that, I mean you’re already halfway done — recap of the most amazing or what-the-heck-did-we-just-watch moments on today’s episode. Let’s get to it:

What Happened on The Young and the Restless

On The Young and the Restless, Lauren made a dramatic plea to Michael that he’s in over his head…because he told Jack that Victor was coming after him. Huh? Okay, sure, Lauren is always worried about Michael, but that was hardly the groundbreaking news that Jack didn’t already know. He literally asked Michael, “What’s Victor doing to me now?” when Michael wanted to meet with him. Lauren crying, or at least on the verge of tears, and chastising Michael through gritted teeth was overly dramatic — even for a soap. From the previews, I thought Michael pulled a fast one like he bought a company Victor wanted, or upended a deal with his insider Newman Enterprises information, or he was secretly plotting against Victor and had been for years and no one knew…oh wait, that would make him Aristotle (!). But no, Lauren was infuriated with Michael because he told Jack something he (and the rest of the world) had already known for decades. Oh, but in walked Diane, another woman who knows Michael all too well. So Lauren tried throwing Michael under the bus by threatening to tell Diane that she doesn’t like Michael working for Victor and that Victor is after Jack. What?? It was so dramatic over nothing. Okay, yes she’s right, Victor wouldn’t be happy that Michael even said hello to Jack, but where was the concern that Victor’s rage would “bite Michael in the ass” when they were swapping dance partners with the Abbotts on New Year’s Eve?
