Welcome to the best of the week for The Young and the Restless, where we highlight some of the week's standout moments, scenes, notables, quotables, fashion, and more!

THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS BEST OF THE WEEK

MOMENTS

Adam and Victoria finding new levels to their sibling dynamic was nice to see. Adam has committed a host of evil deeds over the years, but his portrayer, Mark Grossman, brings such likable charm to the role. Adam's far from all bad. His supporting Vicki after Cole died has been just lovely to see.

There were mentions of Christian being at basketball camp and Harrison being over in Italy. Is it possible that Y&R is ready to launch another generation? We’re up for that. There is plenty of built-in drama as Christian may not know that Adam is his birth dad. Also, Harrison may be a young man with mommy issues since he’s had about three in his short life. (Where is Tara?)

Amanda did the right thing by unjamming the signal that kept everyone from using their cell phones. She also called the authorities, realizing that enough was enough.

SCENES

Vincent Stalba’s tour de force as unstable Carter wasn’t the only performance that stood out this past week. Our hearts broke when Nate broke the sad news to Amy that Damian had been killed. We watched Valarie Pettiford turn in an incredible performance as her emotions ran the gamut from denial, sadness, regret, pain, and fear. Is it any wonder that Pettiford is a Daytime Emmy nominee this year for her turn as Amy?

Another actor who simply must be singled out is Eric Braeden. Maybe Cane and the French police believe that Cane is in the clear after three men – Damian, Chance, and Carter – all died on his estate, but Victor feels otherwise. Braeden presented Victor’s full force against Cane, telling him that he was responsible for what had transpired. If Cane plans on staying in Genoa City, he’s going to be in for a fight!

Cane kept saying he didn’t mean for this to happen, but Victor read Cane a laundry list of his missteps. “I’m not your rival,” Victor told Cane. “I’m your worst enemy.”

Soaps are all about young love, so it was nice to see Kyle and Claire reunited. Maybe Victor won’t win after all in his quest to keep them apart?

NOTABLES

Diane (Susan Walters) and Jack (Peter Bergman) watch over Kyle (Michael Mealor) carefully on The Young and the Restless | Image: JPI

Soaps are all about families, so it’s nice to see the Newmans presenting a united front. Kyle may be a grown man, but Jack and Diane are quite close to being helicopter parents. That’s fine with us. Kyle needs some protection from Victor Newman.

Nikki may not have her friend Katherine Chancellor any longer, but she has a powerful friend in Lauren Fenmore. She advised Nikki not to sign anything regarding giving Chancellor over to Cane because she was under duress! Go, Lauren!

The Young and the Restless QUOTABLES

Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) speaks the truth on The Young and the Restless | Image: CBS

Phyllis and Sharon may have buried the hatchet (for now), but Phyllis’s other dynamics are still the same, as evidenced by this exchange she had with Diane at Crimson Lights.

Diane: “Good morning, Phyllis.”

Phyllis: “It was.”

Diane: “I’m surprised you didn’t stay on in France. You seemed to leech onto Cane. Did you bleed him dry already? Or did he see you for the parasite you are and have you removed?"

Phyllis: “You, on the other hand, are about as trustworthy as a three-dollar bill!”

Victor Newman means business when he calls you by your first and last names!

Victor: “Cane Ashby. Let me give you a warning. If you don’t resist the temptation to stay away from Genoa City, don’t come near my family!”

Amy’s scenes with Nate over Damian’s death were a reminder that denial is a stage of grief.

Amy: “I would know if he wasn’t in this world anymore! No, I’m telling you! I know what I know! It’s like if you cut off your arm, you would know, you would bleed. He is not gone. He’s not gone. No, no, do not look at me that way…my son is not dead! Because I’m still here! I’m still here!! I’m still here!! He’s not dead! He’s not dead!”

Sally asks Sharon to tend to an injured Nick.

Sally: "Make sure he doesn't do anything crazy."

Sharon: "Oh, it's too late for that."

Sharon feels Nick’s forehead after his injury.

Nick: “Sharon, it’s a cut! Not the flu!”

Jack (to Cane): "You played God with our lives."

Cane: "Well, it's over, Jack. So pack your things. Make sure everyone knows they can go home shortly."

Jack: "But everyone isn't going home, are they? Damian won't see his mother or his brother. Chance? My God, this is going to destroy Nina and Jill."

Cane: "I didn't ask for any of this."

FASHION

Going to Nice was challenging but The Young and the Restless did it in style | Image: JPI

Mandi Line will find out in October if she wins the Daytime Emmy for best costumes. But we’re pretty certain she’s going to get nominated next year, too, for the fab fashions we saw in both Nice and Genoa City. Nikki, Lauren, Phyllis, Sharon, Audra, and Amanda all looked spectacular! The men looked pretty great, too!

Diane wore a power color for her showdown with Phyllis at Crimson Lights.

Nikki is not in Nice anymore, but she’s still quite stylish, as evidenced by this paisley print she wore for a Newman family meeting!

Chelsea’s black dress is perfect for working at the office and going out to Society for a bite to eat afterwards.

MUSINGS

We’re glad that Y&R wrapped up the trip to Nice. The Newmans, Abbotts, Devon, and Lily, et. al. need to get back home to run their companies, check snail mail, and keep dentist appointments!

Is Y&R truly going to go there with Daniel and Tessa? Mariah is determined not to share with Tessa what happened that was so tragic when she was out of town. Daniel and Tessa’s guitar lessons are not only getting him to be an expert player, but he and Tessa are starting to trust each other and lean on each other. If Mariah changes her mind, she may not have a wife to come home to.

It's great that Victoria can lean on Nate during her time of sorrow, but let's give Cole a proper period of mourning before a Vicki/Nate romance takes off.

Kudos to Y&R for remembering history. When Diane mentioned that Cane couldn’t be trusted because he had lied to everyone about what he’d been doing and the whole Aristotle Dumas persona, Phyllis threw in Diane’s face that she had pretended to be dead for many years. Diane, in turn, pointed out to Phyllis that she had done the same. Phyllis owned what she’d done.

Audra wants Victor to fund Vibrante, and she’ll do a lot to make that happen. Does this mean she doesn’t genuinely care for Nate and Amy? No, it doesn’t. Two things can be true at the same time.

We seem to be headed towards a Shick reunion with Sharon and Nick. The duo’s captivity and Nick’s near-death experience brought them together. Who would have thought something nice could come out of the trip to Nice?

We’re hoping Jill and Nina come home for Chance’s memorial. He deserves this, at the very least!
