Welcome to The Young and the Restless Daily Y.A.P.P. (Your After-Program Ponderings) for a quick -- and by that, I mean you're already halfway done -- recap of the most amazing or what-the-heck-did-we-just-watch moments on today's episode. Let's get to it:
What happened on The Young and the Restless

Soaps are all about families so it's great to see that The Young and the Restless hasn't forgotten this. Thanksgiving in real time may have come and gone, but it's still turkey day in Genoa City. No one is asking why isn't Lily (Christel Khalil) thinking about her kids when we see her on the phone, having a one-way phone call with her son, Charlie (Noah Alexander Gerry). Khalil brings such familiarity to Lily being a mom we half-expected the camera to cut to Charlie, showing his end of the call. Lily said she hoped that she'd see Charlie and his sister, Mattie (Lexie Stevenson), for Christmas. That'd be nice! Their presence on the canvas is overdue given that their dad, Cane (Billy Flynn), is dying to have a relationship with them! Y&R also tugged on our heartstrings with the mentions of the late John Abbott (Jerry Douglas) as Jack (Peter Bergman) tries to figure out how to best save Jabot now that Victor (Eric Braeden) has Cane's AI program. We didn't just hear John being referred to, but we saw him, and his late, former wife, Dina (Marla Adams), in photos. Having photos of characters who are no longer alive and showing phone calls with characters who are still with us but are off the canvas is key to keeping their memories alive. These are "little" touches that The Young and the Restless does that are actually quite big!
