Welcome to The Young and the Restless Daily Y.A.P.P. (Your After-Program Ponderings) for a quick -- and by that, I mean you're already halfway done -- recap of the most amazing or what-the-heck-did-we-just-watch moments on today's episode. Let's get to it:
What happened on The Young and the Restless
Nobody likes to end the year in the red, but The Young and the Restless did just that. However, the CBS soap's "red" isn't economics, but rather it's the color of romance, and that's just what the serial did on New Year's Eve by ending the year with some romance. We're talking about the simmering dynamics between Lily (Christel Khalil) and Cane (Billy Flynn), and Daniel (Michael Graziadei) and Tessa (Cait Fairbanks). Lily was stunned when Cane re-entered her life last June, when he revealed himself to be the powerful, enigmatic Aristotle Dumas. Lily put walls up that were higher than Dumas's hedges at his chateau in Nice, France. After Cane and his train came to Genoa City, he pursued his ex, but she didn't give in -- until recently. She defended Cane to Adam (Mark Grossman) and Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan), and, more recently, brought Cane as her guest to the Abbott Communications party. Perhaps seeing Cane with Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) caused Lily to realize her true feelings. She and Cane rang in the New Year with a kiss. Meanwhile, Daniel and Tessa gave in to their mutual attraction. Tessa has been deeply hurt by Mariah (Camryn Grimes), her wife, pushing her away. Daniel's been recovering from the brutal murder of his love, Heather (Vail Bloom). These two started with guitar lessons and ended up making beautiful music together. Let the New Year begin!
