The Young and the Restless Daily YAPP, recap, December 9: Michael and Lauren celebrate 20 years with flashbacks galore

Welcome to The Young and the Restless Daily Y.A.P.P. (Your After-Program Ponderings) for a quick -- and by that, I mean you're already halfway done -- recap of the most amazing or what-the-heck-did-we-just-watch moments on today's episode. Let's get to it:

The Young and the Restless once again has honored its history, this time with a tribute episode that honored the 20-year marriage of Michael Baldwin and Lauren Fenmore Baldwin, played by Daytime Emmy winners Christian LeBlanc and Tracey Bregman. The chemistry between these two performers has always been easy-going and intimate. Why, it's hard to imagine that they both had love interests before the show turned Michael and Lauren into a love match over two decades ago! Y&R spared no expense when it came to springing for flashbacks for the couple's special day. These two are mostly ageless, and in fact, if LeBlanc hadn't changed his hair color, we'd be hard-pressed not to be able to tell the difference between footage of them from 20 years ago and today! Michael groused a little bit when Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) showed up. On one hand, he can't be expected to object to Phyllis walking into what is essentially her foyer as she lives at the Genoa City Athletic Club, the location Michael selected for his and Lauren's celebration. Conversely, Michael witnessed firsthand how Phyllis can put her own personal stamp on something that's supposed to be purely celebratory. He needn't have worried, as the fiery redhead is actually quite fond of the Baldwins. "The romance will never be dead," Michael assured his forever bride. "We are still as hot and heavy as we've ever been, and that's because you cannot resist my powers of seduction. Lauren quipped: "Well, maybe I'm just immune to your charms." As if. It was great fun watching these two show that passion and romance don't have to dim -- even after 20 years!
