Welcome to The Young and the Restless Daily Y.A.P.P. (Your After-Program Ponderings) for a quick -- and by that, I mean you're already halfway done -- recap of the most amazing or what-the-heck-did-we-just-watch moments on today's episode. Let's get to it:
What happened on The Young and the Restless

Today's episode was a welcome break from the endless power struggles going on in Genoa City, as favorites on The Young and the Restless are under the constant threat of Cane's (Billy Flynn) Artificial Intelligence program. It was a Halloween treat (not a trick) to see a father and son, in the form of Kyle (Michael Mealor) and his son, Harrison (Redding Munsell), celebrate Halloween. Y&R's costume designer, Mandi Line, came up with some fun costumes for the two to wear, as Kyle and Harrison dressed up as two of the Three Little Pigs' houses -- Kyle was the house of straw, while Harrison was the house of brick. Kyle tried his best to hide from his son that he was disappointed that Claire (Hayley Erin) wasn't there to put on her costume, the house of sticks. It was probably planned that she should have a while ago, and Kyle did his best to hide his disappointment that it wasn't happening. The jovial nature of the scenes had a cloud over them. Kyle was disappointed that Claire was with Holden (Nathan Owens) in Los Angeles, but he remained determined to stay upbeat for his precocious, energetic, and talkative son. Way too often, we see child characters disappear once custody and paternity are established, only to return the following summer, suddenly a teenager, ready to embark on stories on their own. We wondered if The Young and the Restless was going to age Kyle, as he was referred to living it up in Italy when he was visiting Summer (Allison Lanier) last, er, summer. Fortunately, that didn't happen. We're getting some nice, quiet moments with Kyle and Harrison. Give us more, Y&R!
