Welcome to The Young and the Restless Daily Y.A.P.P. (Your After-Program Ponderings) for a quick -- and by that, I mean you're already halfway done -- recap of the most amazing or what-the-heck-did-we-just-watch moments on today's episode. Let's get to it:
What happened on The Young and the Restless

We don't recall Jill and Nikki interacting tons over the years, but the two women certainly know who each other are. Veteran longtime viewers of The Young and the Restless recall that Nikki was once wed to Jill's brother, Greg. The two Genoa City leading ladies met at the Newman Ranch not to talk about the past, however, but rather current events. Nikki sees Jill as not just a conduit but also the sole person who can help contain Cane, who is determined (it seems) to take down everyone in Genoa City. The meeting between the two women began cordially. Nikki opened her door to greet Jill. Jill politely passed on Nikki's offer of tea. But both women were primed for battle. Jill thanked Nikki for the nice note she sent after Chance died. Nikki thanked Jill for Chancellor Industries, indirectly. Their mutual late friend, Katherine Chancellor, was referenced. The conversation turned combative, however, when Nikki took the position that Cane was trouble! A guarded Jill countered that there wasn't proof of that right now. Business stories on soaps work when the show leans into the interpersonal dynamics that are affected by those business storylines. It was a real treat watching Jill and Nikki go back and forth with one another as each one of them attempted to land in the power position. Victor's arrival shifted the mood and teased that there's much more to come as Cane's quest for power continues to unfold.
