The Young and the Restless: Does Annie have a personal vendetta against the Newmans?

Now that we know The Young and the Restless' Annie is a dirty cop on Matt's payroll, it almost makes us wonder whether she's just a random cop he hired or whether she has a secret vendetta against the Newmans, as he does. If that's the case, then which member of the Newman family is she targeting?

On last Friday's The Young and the Restless' sneak previews for this week, we saw a clip of Annie (Catherine Kresge) and Matt (Roger Howarth) in Genoa City. Annie informs him that Noah (Lucas Adams) put Sienna (Tamara Braun) in a suite at the GCAC. Matt orders her "to take care of Sienna."

Matt and Annie following both Noah and Sienna all the way from L.A. to Genoa City indicates that Annie is going to be on the Y&R canvas for a while. So, we have to wonder, why is she so hellbent on carrying out Matt's dirty deeds? She mentioned once that it pays more money to be a dirty cop than a good cop, but is there more to it than that for her? Does she have a personal stake in the outcome of this storyline that involves Matt, Noah, Sienna, Nick (Joshua Morrow), and Sharon (Sharon Case)? If she carries out Matt's orders and kills Sienna, then what does she get out of it, besides Matt's money?

How does Detective Burrow factor into it?

Detective Burrow (Matt Cohen) was Annie's partner, but she fooled him into thinking she was a good cop like him. How does he factor into all this? Did she randomly end up with him as a partner, or did she ask to be partnered up with him for a special reason?

We anticipate that he will show up in GC also, but he hasn't appeared yet. If he does eventually show up, are we going to learn that Annie has a personal grudge against him, too? What will happen the next time they face off with each other?

Is this going to be another Claire Newman scenario?

Is Annie yet another character who has a personal vendetta against the Newmans? Let's hope not. After all, we just saw that storyline play out in 2023 when Claire first started on The Young and the Restless. She appeared to be a non-threatening character when Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) hired her to be her assistant at Newman Media. Then, the Y&R writers served up a twist we never saw coming, as we learned that Claire was actually a devious character who was secretly plotting with her Aunt Jordan (Colleen Zenk) to poison the Newmans and get Nikki hooked on alcohol again.

So whoever Annie truly is, please, Y&R writers, don't make her another Newman. Their family is big enough as it is. They don't need another back-from-the-dead relative or long-lost relative. If Annie is secretly plotting revenge against a GC relative who she believes did her wrong, then please let it be a character whose last name is not Newman. If the writers plan on redeeming her, then maybe she could be related to Audra (Zuleyka Silver) or Sally (Courtney Hope), as neither of them have family in GC. Audra especially could use some family support right about now. Maybe a sister or a cousin?
