On The Young and the Restless, most of the characters should make some kind of New Year's resolution to be a better version of themselves in 2026. Here are four characters who would benefit from making a New Year's resolution:

Abby Newman on The Young and the Restless

We're shocked that none of the Abbott women have spoken to Victor (Eric Braeden) and asked him to back off from attacking Jabot Cosmetics. The one Abbott woman who may have the most sway with him is his daughter, Abby (Melissa Ordway), considering that she's half Newman and half Abbott. Abby and Devon (Bryton James) attended the Abbott Communications launch party, which was when Newman Media published the hit piece on Jabot's shutdown, and everyone's phone was pinging.

So, why hasn't Abby reached out to Victor and reminded him that she herself is an Abbott? By hurting Jabot, Victor is hurting her family's company. She could even give him an ultimatum that if he doesn't give up his vendetta, then she wants nothing more to do with him. Let's see a stronger Abby in 2026! Isn't she at least concerned enough to talk to her Uncle Jack (Peter Bergman) about what's going on? We haven't seen any reaction from her at all about Jabot's shutdown. We haven't even seen Jack reach out to her and ask her to speak to Victor. We know Abby wouldn't want her father to destroy Jabot, considering it's a part of her maternal family's legacy.

So, it would be great if we could get an episode in early 2026 where Abby speaks to Victor about this issue. Remember when Claire (Hayley Erin) walked out of Victor's life when he refused to accept Kyle (Michael Mealor) as her boyfriend? Victor eventually apologized to her. He couldn't bear to have his granddaughter angry at him. Maybe Abby should take that same strong stance with Victor. It may pay off.

Phyllis Summers

Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) is a fireball for sure, and all soaps need fireballs to keep them interesting. But Phyllis is arguably one of the most annoying characters on The Young and the Restless, because she's a compulsive liar.

Most of the Y&R characters have lied at some point, but Phyllis does it all the time. In the past month or two, she lied to Cane (Billy Flynn), Jack, Billy (Jason Thompson), and even her own son, Daniel (Michael Graziadei). She keeps telling everyone she didn't steal Cane's AI program. Apparently, she thinks her lies are protecting her, but what exactly does she think will happen to her if she tells the truth?

It would be great if we could get some honesty from Phyllis in 2026. It doesn't get her anywhere when she lies to half the characters on Y&R. Some fans say she's her own worst enemy, and we definitely agree.

Billy Abbott

Billy is already on a good path in his life. He just needs to make a New Year's resolution to stay on it. When Victor approached him and Jack at Society on Tuesday's episode of The Young and the Restless, Billy looked like he was ready to wring Victor's neck.

When Victor ordered Adam (Mark Grossman) to publish the hit piece on Jabot's shutdown, all hell broke loose for the Abbotts. Can Billy keep his temper in check and continue to stay on the straight and narrow path? Or will his desire for revenge against the Mustache rear its ugly head again?

He tried to convince Jack to team up with Phyllis so she could steal the AI program away from Victor. Billy is willing to gamble on Phyllis, believing she is their best hope to save Jabot. But the problem is that gambling is Billy's addiction. He's been resisting it for months, thanks in large part to his relationship with Sally (Courtney Hope). How much longer will he be able to resist it?

Victor Newman

Victor (Eric Braeden) is the worst offender of everyone on this list. If only he would make a New Year's resolution to end his revenge scheme against Jack and Jabot. First of all, it's getting awfully tiresome. Second, we miss the days when Victor and Jack called a truce and were frenemies. If The Young and the Restless writers re-established the truce, it might open the door for some interesting new storylines.

Some Y&R fans believe Victor is jealous because Nikki is friends with Jack. What Victor doesn't seem to realize is that even if he does destroy Jabot and leave Jack in financial ruins, Nikki is still going to be friends with Jack. That likely isn't going to change. So, what does Victor think he's going to accomplish by continuing to attack Jack?

Victor's biggest, most infuriating flaw is that he has a God complex. Kyle touched on this subject in Y&R's New Year's Eve episode, in his own words. It doesn't matter how much money and power Victor has. It doesn't matter whether he built his company from the ground up (a fact he continues to tell anyone who will listen). When you get right down to it, none of those things matter. What matters is that Victor Newman is not God. Sorry, Victor, but you're not. Stop acting like you are.
