During a guitar lesson in Chancellor Park with Tessa, Daniel played an original song he’d composed. Tessa applauded, and he revealed that it was a smaller piece of something bigger he was working on. She marveled at the progress he’d made in a short amount of time, and she chalked it up to skill and talent. Daniel swore he couldn’t have done it without her. They embraced.

Daniel cited some clunky notes and chords in his song. Tessa placed her hands over his to correct his finger placement and pressure. Tessa reported that Mariah had started therapy, but her wife still wouldn’t admit the reason for her change in attitude. Tessa worried that therapy also made whatever had happened to Mariah real, and she contemplated whether she should be afraid for herself and Aria.

Daniel advised Tessa not to let her fear scare her into giving up on her partner. Tessa recognized that whatever had happened had really gotten to Mariah, and she thought she had to accept the possibility that her marriage couldn’t be saved.

At Crimson Lights, Sharon filled Mariah in on everything that had happened in Nice. Sharon wished she’d been able to get home sooner to be there when Mariah had needed her. Mariah attempted to change the topic to Cassidy First, but Sharon implored Mariah to talk about what had happened that was terrible enough to make her leave her wife and child.

Mariah mentioned that she’d started seeing a therapist. Sharon asked if Mariah had spoken to Tessa, and Mariah replied that they mostly talked about Aria. Mariah shifted the conversation to how Sharon had just gotten back into town after another ordeal. Sharon scolded that there was no benefit to Mariah alienating herself from her family, but Mariah insisted that things were the way they had to be.

Mariah requested that Sharon let her fix herself, but Sharon hesitated to stand back and do nothing when she saw her child in pain. Mariah maintained that she needed to do the work alone to reinvent herself to be fully involved in her daughter’s life again. Sharon swore that nothing would ever change her love for Mariah, and she encouraged Mariah to forgive herself. Mariah acknowledged that people loved her – but it wasn’t enough.

Mariah pledged to keep the toxic feelings inside if it meant preventing anyone from being hurt. Mariah snapped that she’d thought Sharon would be pleased she was seeing a therapist. Sharon hoped Mariah would also be honest with those closest to her. Mariah ranted that her mother needed to stop pressuring her, or she’d have to distance herself from Sharon, too. Mariah stormed out.

At the Abbott mansion, Kyle told Jack that Audra had tried to convince Claire that something had happened between them in Nice, but he didn’t know if Claire believed his contention that Audra had been bluffing. Jack knowingly asked if Audra knew something Claire didn’t. Kyle countered that what mattered was that Audra had relentlessly pursued the agenda Victor had put in motion. Jack cautioned that Audra wouldn’t give up without a fight.

Jack assumed Victor had tried to save his relationship with Claire by pulling his funding from Vibrante after Audra’s plan had been exposed. Jack anticipated that even if Audra had lost her connection with Victor, she might lash out at Kyle and Claire out of spite. Kyle refused to let Audra ruin his relationship with Claire.

At the tack house, Victoria noticed Claire seemed upset. Claire admitted that she was angry that Victor had sunk to a new low by funding Audra’s company in exchange for her destroying Claire’s trust in Kyle. Claire growled that Victor was so desperate to break them up that he was willing to break her heart. Claire recapped the underhanded things Victor and Audra had done, and she declared that she didn’t want to see her grandfather again.

Claire believed Audra truly cared about Nate, and she imagined Audra wouldn’t have risked their relationship unless there had been a good reason – like Victor giving Audra the opportunity to create her own company. Claire mentioned that Kyle had denied that anything had happened between him and Audra, and Victoria assumed Claire believed him. Claire remained silent. Victoria asked if Claire doubted Kyle.

Claire was confident Kyle didn’t have feelings for Audra, but she didn’t like the dark dynamic between them. Claire recalled that she’d been lied to before and was completely wrong about what she’d believed to be the absolute truth. Victoria assured her that Kyle was nothing like Jordan. Claire wondered if she was making a mistake by believing Kyle over Audra.

Claire bemoaned that it felt like the ground had shifted, and she couldn’t trust anything anymore. She cried that she was angry at her grandpa and confused about Kyle, and she couldn’t ask her dad for advice. Victoria considered what Cole would say if he were there. Claire imagined he’d tell her not to jump to the worst case and to give Kyle the benefit of the doubt.

Victoria pointed out that Kyle had been up front with his suspicions about Audra’s intentions. Victoria guessed Cole would say there was no reason to worry unless there was proof Kyle couldn’t be trusted. Claire thanked Victoria for making her feel like her dad was there. Claire expected Kyle to go above and beyond to prove himself.

Later, Jack ran into Victoria at Crimson Lights. Victoria inquired whether Jack knew if something had happened between Kyle and Audra in Nice. Jack relayed Victor and Audra’s failed plan to break Claire and Kyle up, and he suspected Audra was lashing out because Victor had backed out of their deal to fund her company. Jack cautioned that Audra seemed emboldened because she had nothing to lose.

At Society, Audra welcomed Nate back with a hug, and he sensed she’d needed it as much as he did. She mentioned that Amy hadn’t responded to her calls or text messages. Nate lamented that Amy had shut down, and he was afraid she wouldn’t continue treatment. He suggested that he and Audra try to boost Amy’s spirits after Damian’s funeral.

Nate suspected something else was going on with Audra, who claimed that she was just sad about Damian and worried about Nate and Amy. Nate pushed for an update on Vibrante. Audra claimed that she’d decided against moving forward with Victor as her financial backer. Nate surmised that Victor had pulled the rug out from under Audra again, and he promised Victor wouldn’t get away with it.

Audra contended that Victor hadn’t done anything, but she’d thought about Nate’s warning against doing business with Victor after he’d double-crossed her before. Nate was convinced something had happened to change her mind. Nate remembered that Kyle had taunted Audra about Victor pulling his funding. Audra suggested they table the topic until later, since their attention should be on Damian’s funeral and helping Amy.

Lily approached the couple, and she and Nate hugged. Nate updated Lily about Amy and asked about Cane. Lily shared that she had initiated a meeting with Cane because Winters and every other company in town were still targets. Lily divulged that Victor believed Cane was a threat to all of them, but Nate balked at trusting Victor’s word. Nate predicted that Victor was pitting people against Cane to distract Cane from going after Newman.

Lily shared that Victor thought she was the only person Cane might reveal his plans to. Nate worried that Victor was manipulating her, but Lily figured it couldn’t hurt to see what she could find out. Nate warned her to be careful, and he snarled that Damian would still be alive if it weren’t for Cane creating a situation for terrible things to happen. Lily hoped to convince Cane to leave them alone.

Later, Nate panicked when he bumped into Kyle on his way out. Kyle politely wished Nate a good day and crossed over to Audra. Kyle barked that she was lucky he hadn’t told Nate about everything that had happened in Nice after what she’d tried to pull with Claire. Audra warned that it was a mistake to keep underestimating her. Kyle snarled that he’d never let her hurt Claire, but Audra anticipated that she wouldn’t be the one to do it. Kyle ordered her to back off.

Audra purred that Kyle had kissed her when they’d been alone in his room together, and he’d needed to summon all his strength not to sleep with her. Audra acknowledged that perhaps technically, Kyle hadn’t betrayed Claire, but she questioned what would happen the next time. Kyle said there wouldn’t be one. Audra had no doubt she could seduce him if she chose to because he couldn’t resist her forever. Audra pulled Kyle into a kiss as a horrified Claire walked in and spied them.

Lily let herself into Cane’s hotel suite with a keycard. She answered a knock at the door and was surprised to find Holden there. Lily asked if Holden was there to see Cane. Holden feigned ignorance about who Cane was, and he explained that he’d received a text message from Dumas to meet about a business opportunity. Lily revealed that Dumas’ real name was Cane Ashby and that she had once been married to Cane.

Holden assumed Lily had known her ex was a global power player. She admitted that she’d had no idea, but Cane apparently had plans to take Genoa City by storm. Lily flatly asked if Holden was an opportunist. Holden fibbed that he didn’t know what opportunity Dumas had in mind, but Dumas’ text message had said he was impressed with the work Holden had done with Damian in L.A. and wanted to meet.

Holden huffed that maybe Dumas had realized Damian was the only one who’d deserved to be fired. Taken aback, Lily called the comment cold. Holden griped that his supposed best friend had sold him out for a cushy new job with the girl he liked and a new brother, so Damian had everything going for him. Lily stammered that something had happened in Nice, and Damian was dead.

Lily suggested Holden talk to Cane, who had been there when Damian had been murdered. “And nobody told me?” Holden cried. Lily urged him not to trust Cane and to think twice about Cane’s offer.
