Kyle caught up with an irritated Claire in Chancellor Park. Claire was not happy that Victor was never going to accept her beau. “I am done making excuses for him,” Claire exasperated. Kyle tried to calm Claire down by telling her Victor’s words don’t affect him. Claire said she was mad at herself for thinking that if she’d been patient, Victor would have accepted them as a couple. “I am through trying to convince him otherwise,” she stated.

Kyle said today should just be about mourning Cole. Claire said she was surprised that Kyle wasn’t cheering her on, given how Victor has treated him. Kyle recalled when Claire urged him to forgive his parents. Claire said that wasn’t the same. Kyle said he still wanted nothing to do with them. He pointed out that Claire made him realize he still loved his parents.

Audra, while on a run, came upon Claire and Kyle. She gave her condolences about Cole to Claire. Audra said that Nate had dropped by to see Claire and Victoria. Kyle curtly told Audra that he was having a private conversation. She said she’d just stopped to tie her shoe if that was okay. Audra added that she had Kyle’s phone charger from their trip to Nice.

Audra asked Kyle when he’d like to come by and get his charger. He said he had plenty and that wouldn’t be necessary. Kyle told Audra to give Nate condolences on everything he’s going through. After they left, Audra got a text from Victor demanding her presence at the ranch.

Meanwhile, Nikki chastised Victor for using Cole’s memorial to imply that Kyle (unlike Cole) could never be a Newman. Victor shrugged off Nikki’s concerns, but she didn’t let up. “I simply did what I thought was necessary,” said Victor of any actions he may or may not have taken to break up his granddaughter’s relationship.

Victor said he could have at his house whomever he liked. Nikki pointed out that this was her house, too. Victor claimed to have kept the focus on Cole, but Nikki said that he didn’t. She pointed out that Kyle was already a member of the family (courtesy of his marriage to Summer).

Victor lamented not being there for Victoria when Cole died. “Do you ever listen to anything I say?” Nikki asked. She asked why Victor chose today to pick a fight with Kyle and didn’t even want to talk about Victor’s scheme with Audra. Nikki said that losing Cole and Chance should be a reminder that petty grievances aren’t worth it. She begged Victor to let go of his feud with the Abbotts.

Victor pointed out to Nikki that he and Claire had a special bond and that he knew what he was doing. Nikki said she couldn’t argue with him anymore. “Baby,” Victor called out to Nikki. He didn’t want to end on a cross word with her. She said Victor was impossible. He added that if he weren’t, she’d be bored.

In Cane’s suite at the Genoa City Athletic Club, Phyllis tried to point out that Billy wasn’t worthy of being on board with Cane. Billy said he cared about the people that Cane’s plan would affect. Billy asked what would happen to Sally. Phyllis said she wasn’t sure if Cane knew about Sally’s qualifications except for being Billy’s girlfriend. Billy asked how Cane would take over Abbott Communications and Newman Media since they were privately held companies. Cane said all would be revealed once Billy made his commitment to Cane.

Cane said each company would keep its name under the Dumas umbrella. Cane said he was keeping the name "Dumas" and that each CEO might keep their title once he was done owning all the companies. Phyllis liked the idea of being a power player under Cane.

Billy told Cane that he was ambitious, but pointed out that Victor would never work for anyone. Cane said that we’ll see. It would be hard for Victor to walk away from his company, as he created it. Phyllis said it’d be great if Victor reported to her. Cane acknowledged it wouldn’t be easy. Billy said he’d have to think about Cane’s offer. He said all he wanted was Chancellor Industries. He wanted to regain control of Chancellor, but if Nikki were to keep running that company, then he was out. Cane said he was offering more than Chancellor. Billy said he didn’t need it.

Cane asked Billy why Chancellor was obsessed with him. Billy said Cane giving Chancellor back to Lily would be a nice gift. Cane maintained he hadn’t even thought of that. Billy said his connection to Chancellor was personal, and he wanted to honor Chance’s legacy. Cane said he also wanted to honor Chance.

Phyllis pointed out that he wanted Chancellor back long before Cane died. She claimed that Billy wanted Chancellor back to stick it to Jill, to repay her for not trusting him. Billy said it was more complicated than that. Phyllis left to take an incoming call from Summer.

Billy pointed out that Phyllis was a loose cannon. Cane said the same could be said for Billy. Billy urged Cane not to put stock in anything Phyllis says. He did say that Jill sold Chancellor to Victor. Billy said Jill had left him high and dry. Cane said that he and Jill reconnected when Colin got sick. She came to his funeral, and they talked on and off. “The prodigal son is back to take my place,” Billy quietly said.

Cane said Jill did not trash Billy to him. He said Colin wanted to see Jill one last time. She spent his last days with him. Billy asked if that took place at the Chateau. Cane said yes. Billy wanted to know if Cane was Aristotle Dumas. Before he could answer, Phyllis returned. She said that Summer was upset about Chance, but she’d be okay. Billy informed Phyllis that Jill was involved in Cane’s business plans.

Billy called Jill. She said she was wondering if he was going to call her. Billy quipped that it could be the last time they talk, depending on Jill's answer to a question he'd ask. Jill was curious as to why Billy was calling, and wondered if he was picking a fight. Billy showed Jill on his phone that he was there with Cane. He asked if she knew that Cane was Aristotle Dumas. “Are you going to deny it, Mom? No, you’re not, are you?” Billy asked. Jill remained silent.

Kyle and Claire dropped by the tack house. Vicki made a mention of Johnny and Katie. She wanted to talk to Victor about Kyle. Claire said it wouldn’t matter. She’s given up trying. Claire said she’s not sitting around waiting for Victor’s approval.

Kyle asked Claire if she was talking about them moving in together. Claire said yes. Vicki said she was okay with Claire and Kyle moving in together. She let Claire know that not only was she okay with it, but Cole was, too. Vicki said that Cole would be proud of how Claire handled herself today with Victor. “This is your life,” Victoria told Claire. “Victor Newman’s opinion be damned.”

Audra arrived at the ranch and tried to stay in control. She gave her condolences about Cole. Victor said that Kyle was aware of her pitiful attempt to seduce him. He said he didn’t like Kyle thinking he had an advantage over Victor because he discovered Audra and Victor’s plan.

Audra coyly stated that she didn’t fail her assignment. She shrugged that Kyle probably threw out accusations, but that she did not mention Victor’s involvement at all. Audra told Victor that she was never going to sleep with Kyle. She said she got him into her room, and all that has to happen now is that Claire has to think that something had happened.

Audra told Victor that she told Kyle and Claire in the park that she made up a story about Kyle leaving the charger in her room. She promised him the situation was a time bomb waiting to explode. Victor commended Audra on her ability to spin. But he told her she had failed, and he was pulling his funding for Vibrante, her cockamamie company.
