Welcome to The Young and the Restless Daily Y.A.P.P. (Your After-Program Ponderings) for a quick -- and by that, I mean you're already halfway done -- recap of the most amazing or what-the-heck-did-we-just-watch moments on today's episode. Let's get to it:
What happened on The Young and the Restless

The Young and the Restless has no shortage of dynamic leading ladies, as evidenced by the fact that four Y&R actresses received nods at the 52nd Annual Daytime Emmys. Today, another shining star from the top-rated soap caught our eye -- Christel Khalil, a Daytime Emmy winner herself, who is bringing added dimensions to her character, Lily Winters. When Cane (Billy Flynn) came back last summer, Lily wanted nothing to do with him. Too much water under the bridge. Too many broken promises. Recently, we've seen the writers task Khalil with some deep digging as Lily's taken a step back and give her dynamic with Cane some new thoughts. One-way phone aren't always the most dynamic scenes on soaps, but Khalil captivated us today when she had a chat (from her perspective) with Mattie (Lexie Stevenson), the often referred to daughter she and Cane share. Khalil hasn't interacted with her kids in a while, but you'd never know it from the actress's performance today. Even if you don't have offspring, you know what it's like when their parents try to reason with children -- especially when kids have some level of frustration with their parents about the littlest of things -- like Mattie's response to her mom leaving her earbuds behind. Khalil went from working with a prop phone to The Great Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) himself later in the episode, as Lily confronted Victor over Cane's AI program. She holds her own with the formidable force as Lily continues to figure out if and how she fits into Cane's future. That's becoming more complicated by Cane's new dynamic with Phyllis (Michelle Stafford).
