Welcome to The Young and the Restless Daily Y.A.P.P. (Your After-Program Ponderings) for a quick -- and by that, I mean you're already halfway done -- recap of the most amazing or what-the-heck-did-we-just-watch moments on today's episode. Let's get to it:
What happened on The Young and the Restless

While veteran fans of The Young and the Restless will always recall the late, great Katherine Chancellor, played by the late, great Jeanne Cooper, it's understandable that Genoa City newcomer, Holden Novak (Nathan Owens), would not! So, it was a nice treat today to see Holden get a little bit of insight into Esther's (Kate Linder) former boss and friend when the two chatted at Crimson Lights. Esther mentioned her to Holden in passing and was a bit taken aback that he didn't know who she was. Of course, it shouldn't have, as Holden isn't from Genoa City, but isn't that how life is? You can meet someone new, and you know in your head that they're not going to be familiar with everyone in your past, but your heart says something else. That's how Esther must have felt today when she realized that while Holden was familiar with Chancellor Industries and Chancellor Park, both named after Katherine, he wasn't familiar with the great woman behind the Chancellor name. "Don't tell me you don't know who Katherine Chancellor is?" Esther asked. She then explained to Holden that Katherine was one of the great, grand dames of Genoa City. "There was no one like her, and there never will be," Esther knowingly added. Truer words were never spoken! Imagine Kay giving Claire (Hayley Erin) and Holden advice on their friendship. Or offering Holden a position at Chancellor Industries. She'd be in the thick of stories as she always was. Thankfully, Esther keeps Kay's name alive for future generations to learn about the woman who was such a big part of Y&R and Genoa City.
