On the Monday, July 14th episode of The Young and the Restless, Cane and Damian suspect they were poisoned, Phyllis thinks the maze is a trap, and someone stabs Damian.
What happened on The Young and the Restless

In Nice, Phyllis found Billy on the train and taunted that she didn’t recognize him without his little friend. He reported that Sally had gone for a swim to make the best of the situation. Phyllis pointed out that everyone except her and Billy felt like the time in paradise was torture, but they knew the endless Champagne could pay off, and what was at stake. Phyllis knew Billy had his sights on Cane as much as she did.
Phyllis guessed that Billy wanted Cane to make good on his initial offer to get Chancellor back from Victor, and she revealed that she’d had several private conversations with Cane. Billy offered to give her a sweet spot at Chancellor if they pooled their resources. Phyllis recognized that Billy wasn’t the one with money and power – Cane was, and Billy couldn’t even get a meeting with him. Billy wished her luck, adding, “May the best schemer win.”
Nick and Sharon walked in, and Billy informed them that Phyllis had information on Cane but was stonewalling Billy. After Billy left, Phyllis claimed that Billy was mad because he’d offered her something, but she’d turned him down. Nick reminded her that he and Sharon had asked her to do the right thing. Sharon insisted that she was looking out for Phyllis, who retorted that Sharon was looking out for Nick and his family. Phyllis ranted that they had a lot to lose, but she had nothing.
Sharon cautioned that Cane wasn’t Phyllis’ friend or ally, and he was out to hurt the people Phyllis cared about. Phyllis scoffed at the thought of Genoa City’s elite families being victims, and she insisted that Cane wasn’t out to destroy anyone. Nick implored Phyllis to see that there was more going on. Phyllis saw a bunch of people wanting her to support them when they’d never supported her. She huffed that she didn’t need Cane as a friend, but she needed a purpose and a paycheck. Nick warned that Cane would go down, and if Phyllis was tied to Cane, she’d go down, too.
In the maze, Jack groused to Diane that it was the perfect metaphor for their time with Cane, since they’d been going in circles without making any progress. She worried about where Kyle was. Jack commented that the place was so vast that it was difficult to keep track of what anyone was doing. “Or who they’re with,” Diane added.
Jack noted that there was someone else they hadn’t seen much of, but Diane preferred to concentrate on getting through the maze without talking about Victor. Jack complained that Victor was at the center of every bad decision Billy was making. Jack wondered how they didn’t know their way out of the greenery after all that time. Diane bemoaned that she dreaded mealtimes because she felt like a rat heading toward cheese. Jack considered it even more cause to be wary of the new Cane Ashby.
Also lost in the maze, Phyllis called out for someone to help her. She ran into Jack and Diane, who were unnerved that they’d been unable to find their way out. Phyllis fretted that there was something different about the maze that night, and it felt like a trap. Jack guessed that the staff had moved the maze around. Jack suggested that they split up, but Diane objected. Jack pledged to find Cane to tell him he was through with all the nonsense.
Cane and Amanda looked on as Lily and Damian entered the dining area, holding hands and laughing. Cane observed that they seemed cheerful, and Lily responded that they were on vacation and finally enjoying themselves. Cane flatly asked if they were a couple. “Yes, we are,” Lily announced, adding that she should thank Cane because not being able to leave the romantic setting had helped her and Damian get closer. Lily hoped Cane could accept it and move on.
Cane wished Lily and Damian the best, and he promised he wouldn’t mention his feelings for her again. Cane observed that Lily seemed happy, and he considered it some consolation for his loss. Lily snapped that she wasn’t a prize. Cane insisted that she deserved all the happiness in the world. Damian believed Cane also deserved happiness once he moved on. Cane requested to speak to Damian privately, and Amanda pulled Lily aside. Cane fetched a bottle and suggested he and Damian take a walk.
Amanda referred to Lily and Damian’s sudden closeness. Lily admitted that it had been liberating to open herself up to someone, and she questioned whether Cane had really thought she’d take him back. Amanda believed Cane had grown into someone Lily could love again, even after all the pain. Lily contended that her heart had healed, and she’d opened it to someone else. Amanda pondered whether Lily was just using Damian to prove a point to Cane. Lily offered to tell the truth if Amanda divulged what Cane was really after.
Lily demanded a reasonable explanation for why Cane had lured everyone there. Amanda countered that everyone had gone there willingly and with their own agendas, and she refused to discuss Cane’s plans. Lily contemplated what Amanda was getting to make it worthwhile for her to go above and beyond what an employee usually did. Amanda swore that neither she nor Cane were trying to hurt anyone. Amanda didn’t understand why Phyllis was the only person who would give Cane the benefit of the doubt. Lily muttered that it should tell Amanda something.
Nick and Sharon prepared to enter the maze, but she realized she’d forgotten something, and she headed back to the train. Amanda and Lily appeared, and Nick asked where Cane was. Amanda reported that he was with Damian at the bar. Nick grumbled that he knew where to avoid, but Amanda thought the men had called a truce. Nick snarled that he trusted Cane less than ever.
Amanda asked if Nick had put on an act while making peace with Cane. Nick doubted Cane had put much stock in their handshake, which had been one big show. Nick barked that all he saw were smoke and mirrors blocking the view of what was really going on. Amanda asked what he thought Cane was up to, but Nick insisted that she offer information first. She remained silent, and he headed to the bar.
Lily worried about where Damian had gone. Amanda figured that Cane and Damian had a lot to untangle, just like her and Lily. Lily spat that they’d said all they’d had to say to one another. Amanda wished Lily luck finding Damian, and she sauntered off. Lily called out for Damian and Cane.
In the maze, Cane popped open the bottle, poured two drinks, and handed one glass to Damian. Cane toasted to the happiness Damian and Lily shared. Damian voiced surprise that Cane was sharing the good stuff with him. Cane claimed that he was saving his pride by being gracious instead of wallowing, and he warned Damian not to hurt Lily. Damian gushed that he’d been impressed by Lily’s brains and beauty from the start, but he was in awe of her after he’d gotten to know her as a person.
Damian hoped Cane had meant what he’d said about not pursuing Lily, but he also knew Cane was ruthless and would go back on his word if that was what it took. Cane conceded that he couldn’t let go of his love for Lily, but he reiterated that he wouldn’t pursue her if that was what she wanted. Damian imagined it was hard for Lily to get over the secrets Cane had kept. Cane explained it was why he’d let the mask drop, and it had been a long process to undo the things he’d put in place to keep a low profile.
Cane continued that he’d let go of the ways his father had helped him, and it was time for him to take down the walls he’d put up between him and the people he cared about. Damian mentioned that he loved The Count of Monte Cristo, which was about a man who’d been wrongfully accused and tortured who had later changed his name and face to get revenge on his enemies. Damian surmised that Cane’s motives were all about revenge.
Cane recalled that he’d once read the book with Charlie, and he remarked that there was something special about a father and a son. Damian shared that he’d learned he had two fathers, and the one who’d raised him had been the greatest man he’d ever known. Cane acknowledged that Colin hadn’t been a good man, but his father had changed in the end. Cane lamented that people only saw Colin’s crimes.
Damian wished he’d had more time with his dad, and he confided that he’d tried to make up for lost time with his mom, who was fighting for her life. Damian surmised that Cane felt like no one understood what he’d lost. Cane swore that he wasn’t the count looking for revenge, but he wasn’t waiting until he died to make a change. He declared that it was time to make things right, and the next chapter was about redemption.
Damian began feeling woozy, and he asked if Cane was trying to poison him. Cane pointed out that they were drinking the same thing. Cane prompted Damian to talk about what was going on with his mother, and Damian revealed that Amy was being treated for cancer. Cane remarked that seeing a sick parent changed a person, and Damian regretted that he almost hadn’t known about Amy’s illness. Cane murmured that they always thought there would be more time, even if they knew it wasn’t true.
Cane stammered that he felt fuzzy himself while someone lurked in the bushes, holding a knife. Damian complained that he didn’t feel right, and Cane agreed that something was off. Cane recommended that they go back, and he asked if Damian could walk. Cane helped Damian to his feet, but Damian protested that his head was spinning.
Cane prepared to go get someone to help. The person in the bushes emerged and threw the knife, hitting Damian in the back. Damian collapsed into Cane’s arms as a horrified Phyllis stumbled upon the scene.
