What happened on The Young and the Restless

Diane wondered if Victor needed help as he went off to talk to Cane privately. Nikki assured Diane that Victor could handle his own with Cane. Then, Abby, Chance, Michael, and Lauren arrived at the party. The department store heiress wondered if she had missed anything. Nikki assured her she had. Nick doubted the new arrivals would believe what they had to say. "Brace yourselves," Jack said, "Aristotle Dumas is Cane Ashby." Abby said she didn't see that coming.
Jack shared that there was more to come. Lauren wondered why Cane should be believed, given the number of lies he'd already told. Diane noted Sharon, Audra, Phyllis, and Kyle had turned in for the night. She added that Victor didn't control everybody,y as evidenced by Michael quitting the mogul's employ.
Michael said it was odd that Cane wanted him and Lauren to come to his party. Nikki wondered why Cane wanted both the Baldwins and Chance to be his guests. Nick noted that Victor deserved to know the truth. Billy said Victor wasn't the only one. Nikki pointed out that Victor knew the truth about Cane being Aristotle.
Meanwhile, Victor informed Cane in a private meeting in the maze of shrubbery that Chancellor Industries was not for sale. He invited Cane to put his deal on the table, however. Billy laid out a great deal for Victor. He'd give him many of his companies, which are worth far more than the value of Chancellor, so he could return to Genoa City and a life of normalcy. Victor reminded Cane that he did damage to Lily, the daughter of his late, good friend, Neil Winters. "Who's going to trust you?" Victor asked Cane.
Cane acknowledged that he was making a big request. Victor advised him to get the hell out of Genoa City. The mogul advised Cane that Genoa City was very different from when he was last here. Victor said that Chancellor Industries was not for sale. He asked if Cane wanted the company because of Jill Abbott. Cane asked Victor if he had any other companies in mind that he should try to acquire. Victor said Cane would have his support if he went after Jabot.
Cane pointed out that the Newman/Abbott feud hadn't changed. He would not be pursuing Jabot, but he did want Chancellor. Victor said he didn't give a damn what Cane wanted. "End of conversation," Victor concluded as he walked away.
Abby gave Billy an update on Dominic, who'd been ill, which delayed her arrival. She theorized he'd be running around in no time. Billy wondered why Chance was there. Chance mused it was because he was representing Chancellor Industries as he's Jill's grandson.
Michael wondered why Cane was so insistent that they attend this event. Jack said things would become clearer soon. Next, Victor rejoined the group. Michael greeted him, but Victor responded to his ex-lawyer rather coolly. Michael said Cane wanted them to come. Victor said he'd reveal what Cane told him privately to the people whom he could trust (not Michael). He left with Nikki and Nick.
Meanwhile, Lily vented to Damian and Devon over Cane's duplicity. Lily shared that she told Cane it was a bad idea to get back into business with Colin. Damian asked Lily if she needed to figure out what was going on with Cane. She said yes, she did. Lily questioned the legitimacy of Cane's business dealings. She wanted to protect Charlie and Mattie. Devon pointed out that it'd be possible to trust anything Cane would say.
Lily and Devon argued back and forth about Cane, his motivations, and his plans for the future. Damian urged Devon to trust Lily. Devon said it was a bad idea to stick around and give Cane false hope about a future with Lily. "Can we leave?" Devon asked.
Lily asked Damian if he had any clue as to the secrets Cane/Dumas was keeping. He did not. She marveled at how carefully Dumas/Cane structured everything. Damian pointed out that Dumas had led two different lives for the past six years.
Lily confessed that it was a lot to process that the secret billionaire they'd been talking about for months was Cane. She asked Devon to give her the night to think about her next move. Damian lightened the mood by saying he could handle staying on the beautiful estate one more day. Damian said he'd be there for Lily as she was there for him when he had his panic attack. Lily admitted to feeling off balance. Damian used the words that Lily had said to him about the sky being above him and the ground being below her, so she'd feel comforted.
Then, Cane joined Damian, Lily, and Devon in the train car. Cane told Devon it was good to see him again, but Devon was cool towards Cane. Lily's ex asked for a few moments alone with her. Lily said she'd be okay talking to Cane alone. Damian and Devon exited the cabin.
Cane told Lily it was wonderful to see her. Lily said the feeling was not mutual. He asked if she was okay. "What do you think?" Lily shot back. Cane suggested Lily get some sleep, and they could talk tomorrow. Lily pointed out she might not be there as Devon and Damian wanted to leave. Cane said he wanted to explain his plans to Lily. She ripped into him over his actions. "I haven't even scratched the surface," Liliy told Cane. He said when she was ready, he'd tell her everything.
Lily asked if Cane's plan was for them to get back together. Cane said he wasn't giving up on Lily. She told Cane that he was delusional if he thought they were getting back together. "I can dream," Cane responded. Lily said she needed to sleep. She didn't want to talk anymore. Lily exited. Cane wished her "good night," but she was speechless.
Meanwhile, Victor, Nikki, and Nick talked privately in the maze of shrubbery. Victor said that, according to Cane, he and Colin built this empire. Victor let them know Colin had died. "Forgive me if I don't shed a tear," Nikki deadpanned. Nick wondered how much of Cane's story was true. Victor doubted Cane had the toughness to build his businesses. Victor confirmed that Cane wanted Chancellor Industries, and he'd give up his whole portfolio in exchange.
Nikki pointed out that Jill sold Chancellor to Victor with the provision that Nikki, Katherine's best friend, run it. Victor asked Nikki what she thought about Cane's offer. Nick pointed out the financial benefit of taking Cane up on his plan. Victor said it was up to Nikki. She replied that she wouldn't give it up because Katherine wouldn't want her to. "That's the answer I wanted to hear," Victor said with a smile.
Meanwhile, Cane had a black-and-white flashback to his recent encounter with Lily and her initial reaction to finding out he was Dumas. In the flashback, Billy promised to explain everything to Lily. Back to the present, Cane rejoined his guests in the courtyard. He greeted Michael and Lauren and was glad that they could attend. Michael congratulated Cane on getting the "Who's Who of Genoa City" all together. Lauren asked Cane how he pulled this off. Michael wanted to know why he got everyone there. Cane said he was turning over a new leaf. Michael wondered if he was involved in Cane's plan. Cane said that it could be discussed the next day.
Next, Cane greeted Abby. She told him Dominic had just had a little cold. She asked where Devon was. Cane said Carter, Michael, and Lauren would show her the way to Devon. Then, Jack, Diane, and Billy asked what was next. Were answers forthcoming? "All in good time," Cane responded.
Cane asked for a meeting in private with Chance. Jack thought it was odd that Chance would come to the party. Diane surmised that maybe it was a connection to Jill that got him the invitation. Lily returned to the cabin. She found a note from Cane on a napkin. It read that he would see her tomorrow. Lily ripped it up and threw it into a trash can.
Meanwhile, Cane privately told Chance that he had invited him to his party in his capacity as a lawman. Chance wondered what that meant. Cane suspected that by the end of the week, someone was going to try to kill him.
