Sharon and Mariah reconnected at Crimson Lights. As they embraced, Sharon sensed that something was amiss with her daughter. She asked Mariah what was wrong. Mariah said Aria was fine after Sharon showed concern for her granddaughter. Mariah deflected by saying she was happy to see her mother. Sharon shared that her trip to London was fine, but she missed Mariah.

Mariah told her mom she deserved to be happy. Sharon inquired as to why Mariah was sad. Mariah revealed that she did something horrible on her trip. Mariah said she could never tell Tessa what happened.

Mariah shared that Ian’s recent return to Genoa City affected her in more ways than she initially thought. A tearful Mariah recapped how messed up Ian made her life and how her childhood was not good because of him. She noted that it haunted her to this day.

Mariah wished she had seen who Ian truly was years ago. Sharon urged her daughter not to beat herself up. Mariah said she opened her mini-bar while she was away on her trip to deal with her pain. Mariah asked Sharon what kind of person she was if she wasn't able to recognize evil Ian much earlier. She felt she had no character and that the guilt she felt was killing her.

“One bad act does not make you a bad person,” Sharon told her daughter. She urged Mariah to tell Tessa the truth. Sharon said that Mariah couldn’t carry this secret alone. She pointed out that if there was something bad in her that attracted Ian, then there must also be something good in her that attracted Tessa because she’s a good, kind, compassionate soul. A tearful Mariah said that those are exactly the reasons that Tessa can never find out what she did while she was away on her business trip.

Billy dropped by the Abbott mansion to see Diane’s efforts. He told his sister-in-law it mattered if Jack liked it. Slightly taken aback, Diane asked Billy what he thought of her remodeling. Diane pressed Billy for an answer. He said he liked it the way it was before. Diane inquired as to what changes didn't strike his fancy. Billy said he wouldn’t have changed anything. He added that he didn’t mean to insinuate that Jack didn’t appreciate the changes. Billy shared that this just didn’t feel like his home.

Diane gently said that Jack felt John would have approved of the changes. Billy apologized for being so honest. Diane noted that she asked for his honesty. She was just caught off guard by his response. Billy revealed he was, too.

At Society, Summer tried to process the loss of both Chelsea and Sally. Sally asked Chelsea if Adam had invited her to work with him at Newman Media. Chelsea confirmed Sally’s suspicion. She advised Chelsea to keep her friends close and her girlfriends closer.

Chelsea said it was a very “Billy move” for Billy to want to hire Chelsea for Abbott Communications. Summer returned to the table and revealed that Daniel had let her know that Billy had fired Phyllis. Summer lamented that Phyllis lost her job, but she realized that Billy was building a company, and he needed people he could count on. Sally noted that Billy tried very hard on multiple occasions to get Phyllis to work with him. Summer asked Sally if Billy wanted her on board at his new company.

Summer wanted to know if Chelsea and Sally were both serious. She said she wanted to talk them out of doing this, but she felt they should go with these moves as it appeared to be what they truly wanted.

At the ranch, Nick interrupted Victor and Adam’s talk. Victor embraced Nick, welcoming him back from “across the pond.” Nick quipped that Christian’s siblings treated him as if he were the Prince of Wales. Nick mentioned that Allie came to visit, noting that she and Noah were still together. Adam revealed he offered the COO (Chief Operating Officer) position at Newman Media to Chelsea. Adam said she hadn’t decided yet. He asked if Nick had a problem with asking Chelsea to leave fashion. Nick pointed out that Chelsea’s work was going well at Marchetti. Nick asked if this move was for Chelsea’s good or Adam’s welfare.

Victor said Adam had his approval to hire Chelsea. Nick said he didn’t mean to overstep about Chelsea and Adam working together. Victor looked on with approval as the two brothers shook hands.

At the jazz lounge, Phyllis met with Tessa. Phyllis asked for Tessa’s help, which prompted the singer to draw a firm line in the sand. She said she had no interest in helping Phyllis by spying on Daniel for her.

Phyllis accused Tessa of not liking her and of being “team Sharon” as she was married to her daughter, Mariah. However, Phyllis pointed out that she and Sharon bonded during their captivity. She added that she and Sharon would both do whatever it takes for their kids and pointed out that Tessa would do the same thing for her daughter. Phyllis said she has a ferocious maternal instinct. She begged Tessa “mother to mother” to help her save Daniel’s life.

Tessa gently told Phyllis that Daniel wanted to get well without her help. Phyllis countered that he had asked for Tessa’s help. Daniel's mom theorized that her son could learn the guitar and work at Abbott Communications. Tessa gently pointed out that Daniel told her she was no longer working at Abbott Communications either. Phyllis was miffed that Daniel confided this to Tessa. She said her not being at Billy’s company was temporary. Tessa told Phyllis that she didn’t want to hear what was going on. “The fact that Daniel is coming to you for help with music proves he needs a creative flow,” Phyllis said, adding that her son could get that at Abbott Communications. Phyllis excused herself after she realized she wasn’t going to get what she wanted from Tessa.

At Society, Summer told Nick and Phyllis that she needed to go to Europe tonight to find replacements for Chelsea and Sally. She hugged her parents goodbye and told them she loved them. “We love you more,” Phyllis told her daughter. “There she goes – off to conquer the world,” Nick noted. Phyllis asked what Nick thought of Chelsea going to work with Adam. She, in turn, inquired about Sharon and how she was doing. Phyllis said that she didn’t need Nick to pick her up.

Next, Summer showed up at the Abbott mansion. She complimented Diane on the changes, which Diane appreciated hearing. Summer saw Harrison and Kyle. She shared the news of her travel plans to Europe. Harrison sweetly suggested that he and Kyle go with her.

Harrison gave Summer two big hugs because they would be apart for a while. Summer said that she’d take the euro currency that Harrison was going to give her so she could spend it in Europe. Diane left with Harrison to retrieve the euro. Kyle broke the news to Summer that he had asked Clarie to move in with him. Summer requested that Kyle not share this news with Harrison until she returned. Kyle agreed. He asked Summer if he could give her a goodbye hug – even though it might not be as big as Harrison’s embrace. Summer and Kyle agreed to see each other when she got back to Genoa City.

At the GCAC, Sally met with Billy. She said that Summer encouraged her to go with her heart. Billy asked what that meant. Sally said she wanted to do this work venture with Billy. Meanwhile, in the jazz lounge, Chelsea met with Adam and had champagne ready to go. “I’m saying yes. I’m taking the job,” Chelsea told Adam. She told him that Summer was aware of her exit. Chelsea added that Sally was going to work with Billy at Abbott Communications. She noted that that meant she and Adam were going to work in direct competition with their former love interests. Adam and Chelsea toasted.

“To you and me – taking Newman Media to new heights,” Chelsea said with a smile. Adam added that they would take no prisoners along the way.
