What happened on The Young and the Restless

Chelsea talked on her cell phone to Summer, who's abroad, about her leaving Marchetti. After they hung up, Chloe entered and joined Chelsea. She was miffed her best friend and co-worker hadn't informed her that she was leaving her job. Chloe added that both Chelsea and Sally left her without notice.
Chloe rattled off a list of names of people who knew about Chelsea’s move before she did. Chloe pointed out that Chelsea went to Lauren for advice, and then, she left her friend (Chloe) in the lurch. She said she walked into work and found out that Summer was in Italy and Sally and Chelsea had left. Chelsea said she put in a good word for Chloe.
Chelsea asked Chloe how she could make this up to her. Chloe wasn’t sure. Chelsea went on to explain that reuniting with Adam didn’t happen overnight. Chloe pointed out that fashion was Chelsea’s life and that this was a big shift. Chelsea assured Chloe that she was looking forward to doing good at Newman Media. Chloe gently asked how much control Chelsea could have at a company run by Newman.
Esther’s daughter said that this wasn’t about an opportunity for her. It was about Chelsea leaving her for another opportunity. Chloe wanted to know how Chelsea could make such a move without confiding her.
Chelsea and Chloe agreed that Victor used his business platforms to go after his foes. The Young and the Restless heroine asked her fellow fashionista if she could leave fashion behind her. Chelsea said she did some soul-searching. She let wanting to make a change in the world get the best of her. Chloe asked her pal if she thought she made a mistake. “It’s not too late to turn back,” Chloe said.
Chloe quipped that she could coach Chelsea on her groveling if she wanted to ask Summer for her job back. Chelsea countered she needed to find a way to make it work at Newman Media. Chloe said that Adam is Victor’s puppet. Chelsea revealed she let Adam know that she couldn’t work that way. “Adam’s changed,” Chelsea maintained. She believed he’d make the right decision.

At the Newman ranch, Nikki implored Victor to not do anything to Kyle for Claire's sake. Victor claimed he wasn't going to hurt him. Nikki persisted by pointing out that Victor was back in business with Audra Charles. Victor professed to love Claire and wouldn't hurt her.
Victor asked Nikki to give him a break after she touted Kyle and Claire as a couple. “Are you on board with this?” Victor asked his longtime love. Nikki drew parallels to Victoria and Nicholas’s respective love lives and Claire’s. Victor pointed out that Vicki and Nick have been divorced many times. Victor added that Claire was raised by Jordan, implying she couldn’t make sound decisions.
Claire joined Kyle for a coffee break at Crimson Lights. He said he had a big presentation that he was working on deadline with his father. Claire announced she was going to face Victor alone to inform him of their moving in together. Kyle offered to go with Claire, but she told him no.
Kyle reminded Claire that the two of them are a team. Claire counted she had to do this alone. Kyle said Victor has no desire for them to make it as a couple. Claire said her grandfather needs to know that she’s not changing her mind. Kyle asked Claire to thank Nikki after Claire revealed that Nikki was going to approach Victor before she did. Kyle wished that Claire wasn’t treated this way. Claire said she had to try to get through to Victor. She promised to call Kyle after she met with Victory. They said, “I love you” to each other. Kyle wished Claire luck.
Claire showed up at the ranch. She announced to Victor that she and Kyle had decided to move in together. Victor asked whose idea it was for them to move in together. Nikki wondered if Claire might want to slow things down a bit. “I don’t like the idea of you moving in with Kyle Abbott, okay,” Victor declared.
“I love Kyle and he loves me. He’s a bright spot in my life. He wants to protect me just like you do,” Claire implored. Victor replied that the Abbotts think exactly like he did. Claire countered that Jack and Diane were on board. Victor wanted to know if Claire was going to move into that decrepit Abbott mansion. Claire said they were moving into Adam’s old place, which was news to Victor.
The mogul informed Claire that the Abbotts and the Newmans loathe one another. He added that he was very disappointed. Victor walked out the door after he told Claire he would take care of this and that she should not worry.
Nikki gave Claire a supportive hug. Claire expressed dismay that Victor would always react this way. Nikki assured Claire she did her best to get Victor on her side. She added that it’d be a good idea for Claire and Kyle to slow down. Claire theorized that Victor’s association with Audra was his next step. Nikki gently noted to Claire that buying a place together takes a relationship to a new level. Claire said that that’s what she wanted.
Claire noted that she can’t base her life around Victor. He wasn’t changing his mind and neither was Claire. Nikki gently wondered if Claire wasn’t ready to take this step with Kyle, and that Claire might agree with her grandfather.
Kyle joined Jack at his office at Jabot. He brought his father up to speed on Claire going to see Victor. Jack said if anyone can change Victor’s mind it’s Nikki. Later, Jack tried to go over work with Kyle, but he was distracted. Jack wondered if Claire had asked for Kyle’s help. He said no. Jack suggested Kyle honor Claire’s wishes. He pointed out that if had gone with her to see Victor things could have been worse. Jack suggests Kyle is a man worth fighting for. Otherwise, Claire wouldn’t go up against her grandfather.
Nikki noted that everything with Victor was a negotiation. Claire’s grandmother suggested meeting Victor halfway. Nikki said Claire may never get Victor’s approval.
Jack noted that Claire had been through a lot and might be fiercer than Kyle thinks. Kyle got ahead of himself and began painting awful scenarios based on Victor’s response. “Don’t get ahead of yourself,” Jack implored his son. Kyle passionately stated he knew what Victor was capable of doing. “You have no idea,” stated Victor, who was in Jack’s office doorway.
Kyle and Jack pushed back against Victor. Jack told the intruder to get out but Victor wasn’t going to be denied. He told Kyle not to move in with Claire. Victor threatened Kyle and told him to back off.
After Victor left, Jack tried to calm Kyle down. Jack agreed with Kyle that Victor doesn’t make idol threats. Kyle hoped that Victor wasn’t this harsh with Victor. Jack urged Kyle to go and be with Claire. Later, Kyle met with Claire in the park. They embraced. Kyle brought Claire up to speed on Victor’s visit. Claire let Kyle know that Victor said he was disappointed in her. She knew this was coming but didn’t like being on the receiving end of her grandfather’s anger. Kyle suspected that Victor would try to squash Adam selling them his home.
Kyle said he didn’t like the idea of her going up against Victor alone. Claire suggested she wouldn’t do it alone. She and Kyle would talk to Victor together.
Next, Victor walked into Adam’s office. He wanted to know what his son was thinking of selling his home to Kyle and Claire. Victor said he didn’t want Kyle and Claire together. “You got that?” Victor added. Adam pointed out that his apartment was for sale and if he didn’t sell to Claire and Kyle someone else would sell them theirs. Victor ordered Adam to back out of the deal.
