What happened on The Young and the Restless

At the jazz lounge, Audra suggested to Sally that they could spin the Abbott Communications launch delay to their favor. Sally said it wasn’t going to happen. “Abbott Communications is finished,” Sally lamented.
Sally felt bad that she didn’t let Audra know earlier. She offered to bow out if the plug was pulled because of her involvement and Kyle’s potential reaction. Sally clarified that Jack pulled out, but that had nothing to do with the company not moving forward. Billy asked Jack to yank the money. Audra suggested that Sally go to Jack. Sally recapped her visit to the Abbott mansion. Audra reacted negatively to Diane potentially blocking Jack from forking over some investment money. Sally sighed that there was no way to fix this.
Audra told Sally that the only thing Billy should be obsessed over is him. Audra sighed that it sounded like Billy threw away Sally’s career to benefit his. Sally wondered why she thought she’d be different from anyone else in Cane’s life. She shared that Billy’s interested in working with Cane. Audra said they were held hostage by Cane in France.
Sally mock chuckled in frustration that she had nothing in light of recent events. Audra asked where things stood with Sally and Billy. Sally shared with Audra that Billy had a vintage newspaper made up about their happy and successful future. Sally said she had supported him, but that Billy couldn’t see that chasing Chancellor Industries was the wrong move.
She couldn’t just be there to pick him up when things come crashing down. Sally shared that she stayed at he suite at the Genoa City Athletic Club. Audra said that the two were in the same boat. She said she’d be bouncing back and that Sally would, too. Audra said they’re not going to let any man stop them from doing what they want to do in life.
Sally recapped that she left Marchetti for Abbott Communications. She and Billy had big plans. Sally joked to Audra that she should shoot her if she ever lost herself to someone else.
Audra suggested that she partner with someone who wouldn’t slow her roll. Sally said that person needed to be Audra. Sally said they have each other's backs. Audra said they could build the next big thing. Sally wanted to know what that was. Audra talked about her outfit for the Abbott Communications policy. Sally wondered if Audra was suggesting they open up a vintage clothing store.
At Crimson Lights, Claire thanked Esther for her drink. Then, she was surprised to see Holden in the backroom. He told her his flight had been delayed till the next day. Holden asked if things were better with her and Kyle. She wasn’t sure if there was a short answer to that question. Holden offered to lend an ear for as long as she wanted. He pointed out that they had the whole night.
Claire told Holden that she’s not sure she can forgive Kyle. Holden said it wasn’t his place to offer advice but suggested she take a step back. Holden asked if Claire wanted distance, then she should come with Holden 2000 miles away and go with him to Los Angeles.
Claire said she didn’t know what to say. Holden maintained that he was asking as a friend, as he enjoys Claire’s company. Holden hastened to add that he found her incredibly attractive, but he respects that she’s in a relationship. Claire said she’d never been to Los Angeles. Holden sensed she’d love it. Claire said she’s not uncomfortable. Holden asked if she’d consider his invitation.
Holden suggested he and Claire check out all the tourist attractions. Claire said she wanted to visit Disneyland. Holden confessed he has mouse ears with his name on them. Claire said as much fun as that sounded, she didn’t think going away with Holden was right, given how Kyle felt about Holden. He said he understood. Claire thanked him.
Kyle approached Vicki at Society as she was ordering a drink. He said to the waiter, “Put that on my tab.” Victoria invited Kyle to join her. Kyle lamented his role in the discord between him and Claire. Vicki said Claire wanted to go back to the way things were before, and that she’s reacting to Kyle’s attempts to fix things.
“This is all my fault,” Kyle sighed, but he added that Victor put him in a position to make poor choices. He didn’t want to trash Victor, but Vicki said that sounded like trashing to her. Kyle pointed out that Victor probably messed with some of Vicki’s relationships over the years. Vicki noted that Victor tested Kyle, and he passed. Victoria added that Claire can handle some hard truths.
“Where there’s love, there’s hope,” Vicki told Kyle. He told her that she was a romantic. Kyle let Vicki know that he had invited Claire to Paris, but that she saw it as a distraction. “Guess I’m out of moves,” Kyle said. Vicki pointed out that love is not a game. She suggested he get out of his head and start following his heart. Kyle theorized that Claire was looking for a reason for them not to work.
Vicki said both the Abbotts and the Newmans know how to fight. She noted that Claire has had to fight her whole life to be loved. Vicki noted some family members had trouble forgiving Claire for her actions with Jordan.
Vicki pointed out that she and Kyle don’t have to go to Paris to find what they’d lost. She added that Kyle can choose to fight. Kyle thanked Vicki for fighting for him and Claire. Just then, Holden and Claire walked into Society.
Holden charmed Vicki by telling her that he thought she was Vicki’s sister or cousin. Kyle was surprised that Holden was still in town. Claire turned Kyle down for a talk right now, but agreed to meet him for breakfast. Holden called out with a goodbye to Kyle, but he didn’t directly respond and kept going.
Next, Kyle entered the lounge and ordered a drink from the bar. Audra noted that someone was numbing their pain. Sally said Kyle and Audra both lost because of the game Audra played.
Audra said she wanted someone who loved her for her. She lamented being pulled into Victor’s plan. Sally suggested that Audra tell that to Kyle. Audra didn’t exactly jump at that idea. She asked Sally not to address karma with her. Sally gently pointed out that Audra’s original plan wasn’t for the greater good.
Sally suggested Audra try to balance things. Audra quipped the universe owed her so much it could never pay her back if she lived to be 100. She said she makes her own luck. Sally said that was just another way of saying “karma.” Audra said she’s content discussing ideas with Sally.
Audra said it wasn’t her fault if Kyle couldn’t deal with what he brought on himself. Kyle came over to Sally and apologized for the delay in the Abbott Communications launch, but noted it was for the best. “How’s that?” Audra snarked. Kyle said working with Audra goes down only one path – the road to ruin.
Sally stuck up for her friend and said she has no regrets about working with her. She stretched the truth a bit (or a bunch) by saying that Audra was just telling her how sorry she was about what went down in France. “Really?” Kyle responded. “Is that true or are you pretending to have a conscience…?”
Audra said that she was sorry. “Sorry that it’s taken you so long to hit rock bottom,” Audra snarked. She kind of defended Claire, but then hastened to point out that Claire threatened to poison her drink. Kyle quipped that Claire wasn’t the only one who’d want to do that.
At least I’m not sitting all by myself, drinking alone,” Audra snarked. “And I’m sure Claire isn’t alone either. She’s probably having a Vesper with someone else. Either way, it doesn’t matter because she’s gone.”
Kyle maintained that she and Claire are fine and that Audra failed. Audra double-downed and pointed out that Kyle wasn’t suited for a relationship because he was incapable of putting someone’s needs ahead of his own.
“Did Nate tell you that when he kicked your ass to the curb?” Kyle shot back. “Or was it Holden after whatever trouble you got into with him in LA?”
Kyle went in for the kill, which prompted Sally to ask him to take things down a notch. Kyle blasted Audra that while he might be alone for the night, she would be alone for the rest of her life.
Back at Society, Claire invited Holden to join her and Victoria. He declined. Holden said it was a pleasure to meet Vicki and said he’d return from Los Angeles soon. Vicki asked Claire if she was okay. Vicki pointed out to Claire that she lied to Kyle about having work to discuss with her mother. Claire said that she didn’t like walking into Society and seeing Kyle with her mother.
Vicki assured Claire it wasn’t a planned meeting. Claire said she couldn’t dictate who her mother talked to. Vicki asked Claire if her daughter was mad with her now. Claire was hoping she could have gotten past what happened. She wanted that too, but part of her realized she’s intentionally pushing him away. Vicki said Kyle mused the same thing.
Vicki told Claire that Kyle would be okay. Claire said that being with Kyle used to make her feel good, but when she sees him now, she just wants to run away. Then, she glanced over to Holden. Claire said that it felt like someone else might be getting under her skin, referring to Holden. Vicki noted that he is attractive. Claire wondered if she just needed to live a little. As Vicki was distracted by her phone, Claire and Holden exchanged a smile.
