At Newman Enterprises, Claire informed Victor that she’d just cleaned out her dad’s office. Claire bemoaned that it was hard not having Cole there to talk to, and Victor asked what was on her mind. Claire recalled that her life hadn’t been her own with her aunt, and she was still figuring out who she was and getting better at trusting her own judgment. She recognized that she’d done horrible things, so it was important to her to be good and decent, but some people thought that meant they could walk all over her.

Victor proclaimed that no one walked over a Newman. Claire recognized that she had to find a balance between being kind and compassionate and not just taking it when people hurt her – even if they hadn’t intended to. Victor wondered if she thought he’d forgiven Kyle too quickly. Claire informed Victor about Kyle not telling her about kissing Audra in Nice, and she questioned what else her beau hadn’t told her.

Claire described Kyle’s marriage proposal and fretted that it had made her feel more manipulated than loved. She contemplated whether Victor had been right about Kyle all along. Victor assured her that Kyle had passed his test, and he was certain that Kyle loved Claire with all his heart and would do anything for her. Claire was stunned that Victor was okay with Kyle’s actions when anything could have happened in Nice.

Victor believed the question was whether anything else had happened. Claire figured that Audra would have thrown it in her face if things had gone any further. Victor felt that Kyle had done what he’d needed to do to force the issue with Audra, but Audra had failed the test while Kyle had passed. Claire wailed that everything was upside down. Victor explained that he’d given his blessing because he’d been impressed that Kyle had been willing to strike a deal with him. Claire asked what deal he was talking about.

Victor found it interesting that Kyle hadn’t used the agreement to impress Claire, and he insisted that all she needed to know was that Kyle loved her. Claire pondered why Kyle had kept the deal secret when he knew honesty was important to her. Victor applauded Kyle for not wanting to hurt Claire. Claire wanted everything to make sense, but nothing felt right to her. Victor urged her to talk to Kyle and then listen to her heart.

At Crimson Lights, Esther presented Victoria with a drink with nutmeg on top, the way Cole had liked it. Esther remarked that there was something wonderful to remember every day because Cole had been a wonderful man. After Esther stepped away, Victoria spotted Kyle, who started to explain what had happened with Claire. Victoria firmly stated that she didn’t want to get into it. Kyle wondered if he’d made too many mistakes and lost Victoria’s support.

Victoria shared that she didn’t know if Claire had made a decision about Kyle, and she wasn’t about to tell Claire what to think and feel. Kyle admitted that he’d screwed up, but he thought he’d kept the full story from Claire for the right reasons. Victoria lectured that Claire hadn’t had time to process everything, and the situation wouldn’t resolve overnight. Kyle asked how he could fix it. Victoria questioned why he’d thought it was okay to keep something like that from the woman he loved.

Kyle said he could handle Claire being angry, but he couldn’t take her being in pain. Victoria cautioned that it wouldn’t be an easy fix, since Claire wanted him to be there for her but also needed space. Victoria added that Claire still loved him, but trusting him was more complicated. Kyle sourly pondered why Audra was still in town. Victoria doubted that Audra was going anywhere.

Kyle expected Audra to continue to go after him and Claire, and he pledged to show Claire that he wouldn’t make the same mistakes. Victoria warned that it would take time and patience, and she pointed out that the timing of his marriage proposal had made it seem like he was trying to change the subject instead of facing the issues. Kyle swore his proposal had been real, but he didn’t want to rush Claire, and he had to make sure Audra didn’t make things worse.

Victoria offered to talk to Claire to see where her head was at, but she told Kyle not to make her regret it. Claire entered the coffeehouse and requested a minute with Kyle. After Victoria headed out, Kyle apologized for putting Claire on the spot with his proposal. He swore he hadn’t meant to pressure her, and he anticipated talking about it as a couple and then addressing it with Harrison once the boy was back.

Claire barked that Kyle was still going off in his own direction without her, and just when she’d been ready to give him the benefit of the doubt, she’d found out he was keeping more secrets from her. Kyle was baffled about what Claire thought he was keeping from her. She accused him of having so many secrets that he didn’t know she was referring to the deal he’d made with her grandfather. Claire angrily demanded to know whether Kyle’s agreement with Victor was to protect her or to protect himself.

Victoria arrived at Newman, and she and Victor compared notes about Kyle and Claire. Victoria contemplated whether something more had happened that Kyle hadn’t told Claire, but Victor insisted there was nothing more. Victoria was relieved that Victor finally approved of Kyle, but she objected to the timing of Kyle’s proposal. Victor sensed that Claire felt the same way, but it was something she had to deal with.

Victoria admired Victor for accepting Claire’s need to make her own decisions. Victoria thought her daughter needed time before jumping into marriage, and Audra needed to go away. Victor agreed, and Victoria asked what they could do. “Show her the door,” Victor replied.

At Society, Sally excitedly rambled to Audra about the details of the Abbott Communications launch party, and she gushed that they made an amazing team. Audra insisted that Sally take all the credit, but Sally thought Audra should be proud, too. Audra lamented that she wasn’t celebrating Vibrante’s launch, but she promised she’d be dazzling. She anticipated that everyone would rub her nose in her own failure, and she vowed not to let them see her like that.

Sally contended that Audra was fierce and smart, and living well was the best revenge. Sally encouraged her to vent, and Audra ranted about Kyle and Claire. Sally realized that venting was just riling Audra up, and she inquired whether her friend was going to keep spinning. Audra pledged to be energetic and charming that night. Sally suggested they divide the room, since Kyle and Claire were on the guest list.

Audra resolved to ignore Kyle and Claire if they showed up. Sally wanted reassurance that Audra would put her grudges on hold and act in the best interests of the company. Sally implored Audra to go home and get ready with no more talk about payback, and she left. Moments later, Holden approached Audra, who asked if his drunk girlfriend was sleeping it off. Holden ordered her to leave Claire alone.

Audra teased Holden for being protective when Claire had held the entire Newman family captive with the intent of murdering them all. Holden cited Audra’s past, and he insisted Claire was a good person. Audra scoffed at the idea that Holden had a chance with Claire. Holden snapped that it was called being friends, and he suspected that Claire, Kyle, and Audra’s new boss would love to know exactly what had happened in L.A.

Audra clucked that Holden had forgotten how well she knew him. Holden countered that it went both ways, since he remembered everything that had happened in L.A., even if she pretended to forget, and he’d tell the world if he had to. He taunted that she wouldn’t survive a week in Genoa City if anyone else knew what he knew. Audra argued that he was part of the story, too, and she imagined what Claire would think of him once all the information was out.

Audra declared that she’d survived too much to be scared of Holden or anyone else. Holden warned that Audra was kidding herself because the truth would destroy her. He continued that he’d played cleanup, but the mess was all hers, and the stain would never wash away.

Audra conceded that Holden was a good guy and that she’d only kept her distance because they both needed to leave the past behind. She guessed that he was worked up because he was putting his feelings for her on Claire. Holden stressed that he wouldn’t be a problem if Audra left Kyle and Claire alone. Holden warned Audra not to make him do something he’d regret.

Sally arrived at Billy’s house to get ready for the party before she and Billy rode to the event together. He asked how troubleshooting the final preparations had gone. Sally worried that there was a chance Audra might not calm down from her paranoid and obsessed mood. Sally relayed that Audra didn’t want anyone to think she’d been beaten, and she voiced concern that Audra would do anything it took to defend herself if she felt attacked.

Sally trusted Audra to get it together, but Billy asked what would happen when Audra ran into Claire and Kyle. Sally maintained that Audra was the right person for the job. Billy offered to keep an eye on Audra to make sure Sally didn’t have to worry about anything but the launch.

Billy presented Sally with a jewelry box and explained that it was a loaner. Sally found an ornate brooch inside, and Billy revealed that Katherine had given it to Delia. He continued that he’d checked with Chloe, who had given her permission for Sally to wear it that night for good luck when she launched the company that bore Delia’s last name. Sally said she was honored, and they embraced.
