Audra spotted Jack at the Athletic Club and told him that she had information that could be useful. Audra wanted to clear the air first and said she regretted aligning with Tucker. Audra told Jack she was never personally against Jack and Diane.

Jack didn’t want small talk. He told Audra he knew she had been fired and assumed she was looking for payback. Audra quickly told Jack that Kyle had manipulated her dismissal. Jack took offense when Audra insulted Kyle’s ethics. “After all the stunts you’ve pulled?” Jack snapped. Audra said Jack had it all wrong and insisted she wasn’t a bad influence. Jack asked who was. Audra admitted it was Victor Newman. “He’s the silent investor behind Glissade. The one who’s been pulling Kyle’s strings all along,” Audra added.

Audra realized that Jack was not surprised. Jack admitted he suspected Victor’s involvement but thought it was good to get affirmation. Audra offered to be useful and hoped to make a deal with Jack.

Audra suggested that she would use her resources to help return Kyle to where he belonged, and in return, Jack could help her get back Glissade. Jack said he could handle Kyle and Victor on his own. “This information didn’t come without a cost. I betrayed confidence and violated my NDA. I gambled everything I have because I trusted you to be the honorable man you claim to be,” Audra said. Jack said their conversation was over.

Jack told Audra she gave him the information by choice. Audra exclaimed that she had risked Victor’s wrath by talking to Jack. “Don’t you think I’m entitled to something in return?” Audra asked. Jack said he could give her something: sage advice.

“Walk away from this fight. You will never beat Victor, and I highly doubt you will ever run Glissade again,” Jack advised. Audra said she would not back down, but Jack walked out.

Adam and Victor reviewed Newman Media’s successful revenue reports and Victor was impressed. Victor said he was giving Adam a new assignment. Adam sensed that Victor wanted him to be cutthroat and ruthless.

Victor explained that Billy was making random firings and had made Chancellor “commonplace.” Victor instructed Adam to use Newman Media to get the buzz out about how Billy fired Lily and Chance.

Adam said Billy’s trademark leadership style was making rash decisions without any regard for the fallout. Adam assured Victor he would put his best mudslingers on the task. Victor reminded Adam that Lily and Chance were not the targets and that Billy was the focus of the campaign.

Victor also told Adam to use Newman Media to smooth over Audra’s exit from Glissade. Victor said to make it appear as a mutual parting of ways. Victor added that Kyle was capable but needed the right mentor.

Adam noted that Victor fired Audra as part of a plan to stick it to Jack. “I had one condition coming back to Newman Media: I would not use any platform to hurt Jack or his family,” Adam said firmly. Victor said he had only been encouraging Kyle and was not hurting him. “Encouragement that should have come from his own father,” Adam snapped. Victor said if Glissade’s success comes at the cost of Jabot, then so be it. “You know my conditions,” Adam said staunchly. “And you know mine,” Victor growled.

Adam left but saw Michael exiting the elevator. Adam told Michael to help him by revealing Victor’s plan with Glissade, Jabot, and Jack. “And be specific because I want details,” Adam said. Michael insisted he was still on the outs with Victor and wasn’t privy to that information. Adam did not believe him.

Michael went into Victor’s office and repeated the conversation with Adam. Michael assured Victor that he didn’t give Adam any information. Victor didn’t understand Adam’s loyalty to Jack. Victor yelled at Michael that Adam was in an extraordinary position, but if Adam failed to execute orders, Victor would “fire his ass.”

Phyllis tried to laugh at the comments she had overheard Jill say about her. Billy told Phyllis how Lily got to Jill first and spun a story to make Billy look like a backstabber. Billy said his mom didn’t believe him when he told her about Lily’s plot to overthrow him. Phyllis decided that Jill would just have to suck it up and accept that Phyllis worked there.

Billy told Phyllis that everything he had worked for was in jeopardy, and he had no choice but to fire her. “She’s asking you to kick me to the curb, and you’re saying how hard,” Phyllis cried. Billy said he didn’t want to do it but had to. Phyllis tried everything she could to convince Billy not to fire her. Billy felt he had no choice as Jill owned the company.

Phyllis pointed out that if she were fired, it would be the third high-ranking casualty of the company. Phyllis warned the press would come after Billy, and he would take a big hit. Billy said he wasn’t punishing loyalty or rewarding betrayal. Billy assured Phyllis there was no way he would rehire Lily.

Phyllis begged Billy to pretend to fire her, and she said that she would work with him for free. Phyllis said she knew that he needed her, and the job reminded her that life went on while mourning. Phyllis cried as she told Billy that Daniel needed a job, too, as he was drowning in grief.

Billy felt terrible but said Phyllis should focus on her family and had no choice but to let her go. Phyllis composed herself as she thought of a new plan. Phyllis told Billy she would go to Jill and convince her that Phyllis could help Billy take Abbott-Chancellor to the next level.

Billy said if Phyllis did that, Jill would unseat him and take the company from him. Billy told Phyllis it was a risk he would not gamble. Phyllis said she didn’t care. “I need this. Let me win Jill over, or fire me and be your mommy’s puppet dancing on a string,” Phyllis said.

Chance asked why Heather’s phone and bloody towels were in Daniel’s cabinet. Daniel said he didn’t know, but he wanted answers. Chance wanted to take the evidence to headquarters, but Daniel was upset. Daniel asked to enter the passcode into the phone so Chance could look for clues rather than going through police red tape and delays at the station. Chance reluctantly agreed, but the passcode didn’t work.

Daniel grabbed a tablet and tried to change the code with two-step verification. While they waited for the phone to unlock, Chance asked again whether or not Daniel had heard the phone before they found it. Daniel said he had been calling and texting and would have heard it if it had been there. Chance wondered if the phone had been put there recently. Daniel said he and Lucy had been the only people there since the nightmare began.

Once the phone was unlocked, Chance began scrolling through the calendar but saw nothing suspicious. It appeared Heather was looking forward to Thanksgiving, which made Daniel cry. Chance noted that there were no outgoing calls but spotted an unsent text to Paul. Chance wouldn’t tell Daniel what it said. Instead, Chance wanted to take the phone to police headquarters.

Daniel told Chance that if the message said Heather was having an affair, he could take it. He just wanted the truth. Chance read the text aloud. “Hi, Dad. Lucy and I may need to come to Lisbon soon. Daniel and I have been fighting nonstop, and it’s starting to scare me,” Chance read. “Wait, that’s not true! We weren’t fighting!” Daniel protested.

Chance continued, “Daniel’s anger issues are resurfacing. They seem even worse this time around.” Daniel said this was insane and that he couldn’t imagine Heather saying anything like that, let alone writing it to Paul or anyone else.

“No matter how bad things got between us, I never gave her a reason to be scared,” Daniel said. Chance said he would take the phone to forensics. “She was everything to me, Chance. There wasn’t a single thing that the two of us didn’t know about each other,” Daniel cried. “Obviously, that’s not the case,” Chance said.

Daniel was shocked and asked if Chance believed Heather was afraid. “I don’t know what to think,” Chance admitted. Daniel asked if Lucy was right the other day when she said that Chance acted as if Daniel was a suspect.

Chance bagged up the evidence and told Daniel the police were coming to do a more thorough search. “Because of the evidence I just found, this is a crime scene,” Chance admitted sternly. Chance said that Daniel and Lucy couldn’t stay at the apartment anymore. Daniel asked if Chance realized what that would do to Lucy. “Forensics will be here soon. You need to leave. Now,” Chance told him.
