Next week on The Young and the Restless, things go awry quickly when Carter (Vincent Stalba) realizes that Cane (Billy Flynn) actually couldn’t be trusted. Cane convinces Carter to trust him implicitly and confess to him what happened the night of the murder. Carter tells him he would do anything for him, and that he knew how much Cane loves Lily (Christel Khalil). With Damian (Jermaine Rivers) in the way of his boss’ happiness, Carter took matters into his own hands.

Unfortunately, Victor (Eric Braeden) and Chance (Conner Floyd) are eavesdropping on the conversation, and when Carter realizes that Cane betrayed him, he loses it. Amanda brings in the authorities, but it’s a tense situation in the maze courtyard when Carter holds Lily at gunpoint as leverage to escape.

Cane warns Carter not ot make it worse for himself, but Carter wonders how it could possibly get worse? He’s lost everything he loved — his new life, his job, and Cane. And, he’s confessed to murder. Hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel there.

Later, Cane tells Amanda she made the right choice calling the authorities, although it sounds like it ended tragically. “The bodies will be taken to the coroner’s office,” she advises. Amanda tells Cane that the case is pretty much closed, and he’s in the clear. But is he?

Meanwhile, Nick (Joshua Morrow) is back on the train but in a lot of pain and needs a doctor. Sharon and Sally (Courtney Hope) are astounded when they hear a ding. “Is that your phone?” Sharon asks Victor incredulously. As he pulls out his mobile phone, everyone’s phones also start to make dinging noises as their messages flood in.

Realizing they have wifi service again, Sharon (Sharon Case) wonders why now. Victor surmises that Cane has realized that he has lost. With communication to the outside world restored, Victor suggests they get the hell out of there.

Back in Cane’s office, it does indeed seem like he’s lost. Deep in disturbed thought, he suddenly wipes his desk of everything on it, sending the items flying to the floor.
