On The Young and the Restless, there are two characters who share similarities that would make them perfect friends -- if only one of them hadn't created the AI program and threatened to take over the big businesses in Genoa City.
Those two characters are Kyle and Cane. Let's delve into the reasons why they would make good friends.
Kyle and Cane, two lovelorn men on The Young and the Restless

Kyle (Michael Mealor) and Cane (Billy Flynn) would make ideal drinking buddies on The Young and the Restless. We could picture them sitting at the Society bar and crying in their beer together, commiserating over their messy love lives. They've both been pining over a special lady for months now. Cane is determined to win back Lily (Christel Khalil), and Kyle has spent months moping over Claire (Hayley Erin). But we have a feeling that eventually, these ladies will want them back.
Cane may have a better chance at winning back Lily, considering their rich history together. They were once married for years, and they share two children (Charlie and Mattie, played by Noah Alexander Gerry and Lexie Stevenson). Kyle and Claire only dated for a while, and she didn't even say yes to his marriage proposal. Plus, Lily seems like she's starting to warm up to Cane again. Deep down, it feels like she still loves him and is afraid to admit it. She doesn't know whether or not she can ever trust him again, since he kept the secret Aristotle Dumas identity for six years.
Unfortunately, Kyle and Cane will probably never be friends, since Cane posed a threat to all the big businesses in GC and created the dreadful AI program. If he hadn't told Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) about it, she never would have stolen it and given it to Victor (Eric Braeden). Jabot wouldn't be in danger of being wiped out by the Mustache right now.
Audra is to Kyle what Phyllis is to Cane (sort of)

First off, we are so thrilled that Kyle finally stood up to Claire and told her he was done! The devastated look on Claire's face was priceless, after all these months she's been keeping him at arm's length. Some fans of The Young and the Restless think this opens the door for him and Audra (Zuleyka Silver) to have a fling, and here's where there's another similarity between Kyle and Cane. Whenever Lily shoots down Cane, Phyllis is always hovering nearby. The same can sort of be said for Kyle, Claire, and Audra. Even though Kyle and Audra are always arguing, it sure seems like there's a lot of pent-up attraction between them!
Even Sally (Courtney Hope) wondered about it and asked Audra whether she was interested in Kyle. Audra said no, but she tears Kyle down every chance she gets. What's up with that? She did have a fling with him just a couple of years ago. Maybe deep down, she wants another one?
So, it seems that we're supposed to view Claire and Lily as the "nice girls" who Kyle and Cane love, and Audra and Phyllis are the "bad girls" they're attracted to (but don't trust). Cane doesn't really trust Phyllis, and now he has even less reason to trust her, since she stole his AI program. And Kyle distrusts Audra so much that he wanted to run her out of town!
If Kyle and Cane became friends, Jack and Billy would not be thrilled

Unfortunately, what could have been a good friendship on The Young and the Restless will never be -- and all because of everything Cane set into motion. Kyle will never want to have even a casual drink with Cane, even though Cane did warn Jack (Peter Bergman) and Diane (Susan Walters) that his AI program was stolen.
It would make for some interesting drama on Y&R, though, if Kyle and Cane did strike up a friendship somehow. Jack, Diane, and Billy (Jason Thompson) would have a problem with that, since Cane and his AI program have made their lives hell ever since Cane invited them to his estate in Nice, France. And let's not forget, Cane cancelled the first launch party of Abbott Communications without Billy's and Sally's permission. So, a growing friendship between Kyle and Cane would be cause for concern to the Abbott brothers and Diane. But since Y&R could use a few more male friendships, it might be fun if they went there with Kyle and Cane.
