The Young and the Restless: Why didn't Jack bring Abby into the Jabot family discussion? Here's what we think.

On The Young and the Restless, Jack rounded up all the Abbotts after Thanksgiving dinner to discuss a very important topic: the concern that Victor will unleash the AI program on Jabot.

But one Abbott was not present, and that was Abby. Why didn't Jack include her in the discussion?

On The Young and the Restless, it isn't often that we see the entire Abbott family gather together to discuss Jabot business. But after Thanksgiving dinner was over, that was exactly what they did. Jack (Peter Bergman) knows that Jabot could be in serious trouble, if Victor uses the AI weapon against it. Jack brought everyone together in a meeting so they could brainstorm possible solutions to combat Victor's AI threat. Plus, he wanted to let his family in on his idea of temporarily shutting down Jabot.

But, why didn't Jack include Abby (Melissa Ordway) in the family discussion? After all, she is half Newman and half Abbott. Surely, he should make her aware of the threat her father, Victor (Eric Braeden), poses to her Abbott side of the family. She had a right to be present at that meeting.

On The Young and the Restless, Abby and Devon (Bryton James) spent part of Thanksgiving with the Newmans and the other part with the Winters, so she did spend some holiday time with Victor. Usually, the only times we see Abby and Victor interact is when she's getting married and Victor is giving her the wedding of her dreams and then giving her away at the wedding ceremony.

But this Thanksgiving, Abby spent some holiday time at the Newman ranch. Why didn't Jack arrange for her to swing by the Abbott mansion, so he could bring her up to speed on Victor's AI threat? Surely, Abby would want to know about the damage her father wants to do to Jabot with the AI program. Does she know that this program even exists? None of the Abbotts or Newmans ever seems to fill her in on anything important that's going on, regarding her families' businesses.

If any of the Abbott women would have influence over Victor, it would be Abby. She is his daughter, and we would hope he wouldn't want to do anything that would hurt her. Sure, Jabot is Newman Enterprises' rival company, but it's also Abby's mother's company. All Abby would need to do is play the "you used to love my mother" card. She could also tell him, "My grandfather, John Abbott, was a wonderful man, and now you want to destroy his company? That's my family's company, no matter how much you hate Uncle Jack. By hurting Jabot, you're hurting me." Would Victor take her words to heart? We would like to think so.

Why don't Traci, Ashley, and Abby speak to Victor together?

Maybe Jack chose not to include Abby in the family discussion on The Young and the Restless, because he knows she loves Victor. It's possible that Jack didn't want to do anything that would put her at odds with her father and potentially damage their relationship. For that reason, perhaps Jack decided it was best not to put Abby in the middle of the Newman/Abbott dispute.

But if Abby had been included in the Abbott meeting, then they would have had another possible solution to their problem. Even though Victor hates all of the Abbott men, he has nothing against the Abbott women. He was once married to and in love with Ashley. Abby is their daughter, so they will always share a bond through Abby. Traci gave permission for Victor to receive her daughter Colleen's (Tammin Sursok) heart after Colleen died and Victor needed a transplant. Y&R fans have commented on that. So, Victor couldn't possibly have anything against Traci. She extended his life by giving him her daughter's heart.

So, why don't Traci, Ashley, and Abby all visit Victor at the Newman ranch together and kindly ask him to reconsider the truce he once had with Jack? If all three of them reached out to him, then that might do the trick. Heck, even if only Ashley and Traci meet with Victor, that might work also. It's worth a shot.
