When we think of all the schemers, cheaters, and ruthless characters on The Young and the Restless, it's hard to find someone in Genoa City who embodies the true values of Christmas. There is really only one person, and that's Traci.

Traci is a bright light on The Young and the Restless

Unfortunately, we don't get to see very much of Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland). She pops in here and there to visit her family. But her lunch with Lily (Christel Khalil) at Society was perfection. Traci and Lily share a close bond, because Lily was friends with Traci's late daughter, Colleen (then Tammin Sursok), when they were teenagers.

In the course of their lunch, Traci and Lily shared their memories of Colleen, and they touched on a variety of other subjects as well. Traci tried to help Lily sort through her feelings regarding Cane (Billy Flynn). The two friends talked about love, friendship, heartbreak, forgiveness, and Traci's novelist career. With all the emotional turmoil Lily's been feeling regarding Cane, Traci seems to have a calming influence over her. It was good to see these close friends reconnect.

Traci advised Lily that forgiveness does no good if it comes too late. That's an important Christmas message to reflect on. Traci is always kind and fair-minded to everyone around her. She realizes that time is precious and that carrying grudges for too long only ends up causing more hurt.

Traci and Diane shared a special bonding moment

Even though Ashley (Eileen Davidson) has had past issues with Diane (Susan Walters), Traci welcomed Diane into the Abbott family and accepted her as her sister-in-law. Traci told Diane that the Abbotts are lucky to have her as part of their family. She admires that Diane is a fighter who is pulling out all the stops to save the Abbott's family company, Jabot, from Victor (Eric Braeden).

Diane hasn't always felt accepted as an Abbott, which was why she had the Abbott mansion "refreshed," so that it could reflect a part of her and a part of the Abbotts. When Traci embraced her on Tuesday's episode of The Young and the Restless, that close moment taught us something about the true meaning of Christmas and what this holiday symbolizes -- family, acceptance, goodwill, peace, and forgiveness. Traci just makes everyone and everything around her better.

Earlier this year, we even had a surprisingly close moment between Traci and Phyllis (Michelle Stafford), who rarely share scenes together. They commiserated over the pain that Martin Laurent (Christopher Cousins) caused them, and that conversation made them stronger. Like Diane, Phyllis doesn't have a stellar reputation in GC, but Traci never judges her harshly. She even came to her defense at Christine's (Lauralee Bell) bachelorette party after Phyllis crashed the celebration. Traci reminded the other ladies there that Phyllis went through a traumatic experience, calling upon them to show some compassion and empathy.

Traci is the peacemaker of the Abbott family

Traci is all about harmony and family love. She is never conniving, spiteful, or selfish. She is always truthful and open-minded, and her Abbott family appreciates and loves her for those qualities. She is often shown as the family peacemaker whenever the Abbotts have a hard time settling disputes amongst each other.

Traci just wants to live her best life and not dwell on past hurts that others inflicted on her. When Lauren (Tracey Bregman) apologized to her years ago for the nasty way she used to treat her, Traci accepted the apology and embraced her. She doesn't carry grudges but instead forgives and moves on with her life. She revels in the joy that her writing career gives her, and she always loves and supports her family, no matter what.

Traci embodies the true meaning of Christmas. She is kind, caring, respectful, joyful, loving, selfless, and values the importance of family. That's why she has earned the right to be called the heart and soul of Christmas on The Young and the Restless.
