It was interesting (and a little odd) that The Young and the Restless' Adam and Sally ended up ringing in the New Year together, after they ran into each other at Society. Was that a foreshadowing that during 2026, they will wind up back together again?
Adam and Sally on The Young and the Restless

It felt downright strange that a big chunk of The Young and the Restless' New Year's Eve episode featured Adam (Mark Grossman) and Sally (Courtney Hope) sharing a meal at Society and reconnecting as potential friends. What was especially weird was that it happened so soon after Adam published the hit piece against Jabot Cosmetics on the night of Abbott Communications' launch party.
It all started when they realized they'd accidentally been given each other's take-out meals. That led to them sitting at the bar, eating together, and carrying on a very pleasant conversation. And that led to toasting the New Year together at the stroke of midnight. By the time the episode ended, Adam asked Sally whether they were on the road to becoming friends again. She cautiously said they might be.
Where are the Y&R writers going with this? Sally's relationship with Billy (Jason Thompson) is strong right now. The only foreseeable problem is that Billy would love to take down Victor (Eric Braeden). He's been resisting that urge for months. We never know whether we can count on Billy to truly change his ways. If he goes back to his former ways, his relationship with Sally will surely end.
We've been getting signs that Adam and Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) won't last either. She now realizes how damaging her career at Newman Media is, knowing that Victor will always use the company as a weapon against Jack (Peter Bergman) and Jabot. So, are we getting signs that in 2026, Adam and Sally may break up with their current partners and reunite with each other?
We even got a flashback of Adam and Sally as a couple

The Young and the Restless writers went all out with the Adam and Sally scenes yesterday. They even gave us a flashback scene of them celebrating a previous New Year's Eve when they were a couple.
It wouldn't make any sense to put Adam and Sally back together, since that would bring us right back to where we were last year. They were happy together until Adam slept with Chelsea and then lied to Sally about it, after she told him that she needed honesty from him. She ultimately broke up with him because of that lie.
So, why would the Y&R writers consider putting them back together if Sally can never really trust that Adam will be honest with her? Besides, even though Billy may be obsessed with seeking revenge against Victor, Adam has an obsession of his own: his father's acceptance.
Adam isn't any better for Sally than Billy is

It was only about a week ago that Sally tore into Adam for his Newman Media attack on Jabot and the fact that he strategically published the hit piece right in the middle of Abbott Communications' launch party. We cheered her on for giving him the third degree, for not taking into consideration that she runs Abbott Communications. Right on, Sally!
So, why did she have to go soft on him at Society? Why couldn't she wish him a happy New Year and walk away? We sure hope the Y&R writers don't start making Sally weak. She's always been strong-willed and outspoken. Let's keep her that way. Please, writers, don't let her fall for Adam again! They used to be good together, once upon a time. But ever since his dishonesty about his night with Chelsea, and now, with his recent hit piece, it feels like the best thing Sally can do is to stay clear of him. She knows he doesn't have the guts to stand up to Victor and tell him no.
