This could be Cane Ashby's true agenda on The Young and the Restless

Cane Ashby disguised himself as Aristotle Dumas on The Young and the Restless while he amassed a fortune. When he revealed himself to the A-listers of Genoa City, Cane’s motives became clear. He wanted to win back the love of his ex-wife, Lily, and their children, Mattie and Charlie.

The real Cane Ashby on The Young and the Restless

Cane (Billy Flynn) appears to have the means to make his presence known on Y&R. Not many are so rich that they can afford their own trains on multiple continents! Also, Cane is rumored to possess software that can decimate the companies of his enemies, making them ripe for hostile takeovers!

We’ve been wondering, though, how exactly will ruining the professional lives of the Newmans, Abbotts, Winters, and other family businesses endear him to Lily (Christel Khalil) or their kids? If anything, Cane will achieve the opposite of what he’s trying to make happen.

But what if appearances are deceiving? Let’s look at what’s truly been happening since Cane returned to Genoa City.

Hell has frozen over

We mean this figuratively, of course, as Genoa City in 2025 is not Port Charles (General Hospital’s setting) circa 1981. No, we’re talking about Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) being thisclose to a truce.

On one hand, these two titans are capable of taking Cane down once they are a united front, and they’ll probably go back to being adversaries once Cane is defeated. But what if they don’t? What if the Newman/Abbott feud came to an end permanently so that future generations don’t get sucked into the melee?

If Jack and Victor mend fences, Cane would be the man responsible! Forget about taking over companies. Cane would be eligible for the Nobel Peace Prize!

Always in (Spectra) fashion

Billy (Jason Thompson) was all set to team up with Cane to get what he wanted – control of Chancellor Industries, the company currently being run by Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott). Cane, however, canned him because he was too volatile -- and Phyllis isn’t?

This has prompted Billy to wake up and smell the coffee at Crimson Lights. He has asked Jack to take him back into the fold, and he’s respectfully requested that Sally (Courtney Hope) give him another chance. Guarded, understandably, Sally agreed. They had a long heart-to-heart at Chancellor Park. They toasted their future over drinks at the jazz lounge, and then, they celebrated their reunion by making love back at Billy’s house, which soon may be Billy and Sally’s house.

Who do these two lovebirds have to thank for their reunion, either directly or indirectly? Yep, Cane Ashby. It’s almost as if the guy believes in true love. Hmmm...

Cat's in the cradle

Earlier this year, Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) cut ties with Victor, a man he considered a surrogate father. Victor wasn’t just Michael’s client. The two men had shared confidences related to work and life. Michael went above and beyond what a lawyer needed to do for his client. Victor, alas, expected nothing less.

Cane and everyone could see the coolness between Victor and Michael during his summer soiree. Michael, however, recently visited Victor and offered to help his ex-boss remain safe from Cane’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) program once he suggested Victor was in danger. Victor was open to letting Michael back in.

The two men are in the process of making up. Michael’s happy about that, and Victor, well, he might not admit it or show it, but we suspect he’s glad about this, too. And who’s to “blame” for this development? Cane Ashby.

Wouldn’t it be something to see Cane’s actions lead to other positive unions on The Young and the Restless? He’s been promising for a long time that “all will be revealed.” Maybe this is what he was talking about? Perhaps Cane is going to show Lily and their kids that he truly is worthy of their love and a second chance?

After all, look at all the good he’s arguably achieved since returning to Genoa City!
