On The Young and the Restless, Victor and his son, Adam, had a heartwarming conversation. Some would say it was a long time coming, but is this a sign that things are about to go wrong for Adam?
Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) is very much the staunch patriarch of the Newman family. It is well documented in the Soap Central archives how far he will go to protect his family and his words: “Everything I do is for family.” So, when moments like this come up, fans wonder whether this foreshadows that the writers have things planned for Adam (Mark Grossman) that he won’t like. This leads fans to question why everyone grovels to Victor.
Why Does Almost Everyone Grovel to Victor on The Young and the Restless?

Soap Central message board contributors had this to say.
Senior member Old Boot said, “It's getting to the point where I can't watch anymore. Some people (Adam and Michael) almost crawl on their knees and wag their tails. Grovelling has become 2nd nature. I know Jack doesn't, but he takes pomposity to another level.”
Cloverleaf replied, “It was interesting, in today's episode, that the writers seemed to have eased up on some of the objectionable personality traits of the characters. I never thought I'd ever hear those words come out of Chloe's mouth re Adam. Chelsea is now softening and open to reuniting with Adam. Adam has forgiven Chelsea for trying to frame him for attempted murder. And Victor! OMG Victor, still the pompous ass he's always been but at least was kind to Adam today. That's good considering that Adam has become the lap dog daddy always wanted him to be.”
Adam & Victor's Loving Father and Son Talk
Y&R25years said, “That was probably the most tender respectful loving father & son talk Victor and Adam have EVER had in show history.”
ShesAllThat agreed. “It really was a nice scene! I love that he gave Adam the home and they can have these kinds of moments together!”
Fans speculate that whenever things start to go right for Adam, it's often a sign of awful things to come. They hope that this time, they are wrong. Some surmise that it all looks nice and rosy because Adam is doing everything Victor wants him to do. They note how fast that will change if Adam decides to go in another direction. As is the case on The Young and the Restless, there is no story or drama in the fun happy times, so stand by soap fans, once the Sharon and Phyllis kidnapping storyline wraps up, we may see this go south too.
