On The Young and the Restless, Damian Kane was shown as being killed when a knife was hurled through the air and plunged into his back. Chance may be on the case, but we have the insight into what really happened.

Solving crimes and murders on The Young and the Restless has become a full-time job for viewers in the last year. This time, after accepting an elite invitation to the French Riviera, some Genoa City residents have found themselves in the middle of a murder mystery. But who did it, and why? We’ve got some ideas:

The Prime Suspect, Cane Ashby

Sure, Cane was with Damian (Jermaine Rivers) when he died. And yes, he had a big bone to pick that Damian was now half of what put him and Lily in full-fledged couple status…but Cane suspected a murder before he knew his ex and Damian were attracted to one another. And, he was drinking from the drugged bottle, too. That said, he’s doing odd stuff for such a supposed brilliant mastermind. From not hiring security, to traveling to Genoa City alone when he thought he would be murdered, to bringing the love of his life when he thought he was in danger, to not checking if she was okay, to knowing the way around the maze that everyone else thought had changed, to not sharing the security footage immediately, to hiring Chance of all people to figure out a mystery…okay, forget it. He’s still a prime suspect.

The Unsuspected: Amanda Sinclair

While Amanda (Mishael Morgan) hasn’t given us any cold-blooded killer vibes, we also haven’t seen her on a regular basis in a while. Could she be in love with Cane, and be the actual jealous one who killed in a crime of passion? Maybe all of his pining for Lily (Christel Khalil) got on her nerves, and thought she’d get revenge for Lily killing her sister Hillary all those years ago, and prevent her from taking away Cane?

The Likely Twist: Carter

And here’s the most likely spoiler: Carter did it, in the maze, with the knife. Let’s recall how actor Vincent Stalba described his role of Carter recently to Soap Opera Digest: First, noting that when he auditioned, he was told that Carter was “calculated, cold, polished, professional, and very robotic,” he also teased that the role would grow as the storyline went on. Considering we’ve mainly seen him greeting guests like Lurch, the only other thing we know he’s been doing is playing hacky sack with the resident detective, presumably in his suit. But Stalba may have revealed all when he added, “It’s basically just being an assistant until there’s a much bigger plan that comes into focus. I say very little, but I know everything. Things are about to get very juicy and very exciting, and I think people are going to connect with Carter in a new way, and Carter may have plans of his own. All I’ll say is I will do anything for my boss.” Interesting.

But does Carter have a motive? Is he the disgruntled employee who is always overlooked, or is there something deeper going on? Tell us your suspicions, and if you’ve got another idea of who could be Y&R’s Maze Killer.
