Corey Sligh, who has appeared on a recurring basis as a waiter/bartender at the Genoa City Athletic Club. on The Young and the Restless, is recuperating after a savage attack on Thanksgiving Day.
The 27-year-old actor and his girlfriend, Alisa Berhorst, were headed to a Los Angeles Rite Aid store on November 27 to take a friend a Thanksgiving meal when they saw two men in a car doing "donuts" and speeding. Sligh asked the men to slow down and, according to Berhorst in an interview with CBS affiliate KCAL, told them to "please slow down or we're gonna call the cops. Just go home."
According to witness accounts, the driver then hit Sligh with his car, and the two men got out of the vehicle to attack Sligh.
Berhorst said that one of the men "walked up on [Corey] like 'I'm in the mood to kill somebody and this is who it's going to be because he told me to be careful and slow down and go away.'"
Sligh suffered multiple injuries including a broken arm that required surgery. He is recuperating at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
Sligh posted a photo of himself on Instagram and noted that he expects to "heal up in the next few weeks with Rehab and family." He also mused, "Well, I guess I can finally say 'I made the Hollywood Reporter!'"
The alleged attackers fled the scene but later crashed their car. Police have arrested two suspects.
