Y&R's injured Daniel Goddard undergoes surgery

The long road to recovery following an on-set accident begins for The Young and the Restless' Daniel Goddard (Cane Ashby) today.

It's been a rough few days for fan favorite daytime actor The Young and the Restless' Daniel Goddard (Cane Ashby), who injured his arm while taping a fight scene late last week. The star is scheduled to go in for surgery for his broken elbow today, and he shared with fans that the whole situation has been quite a nightmare.

"My elbow is still broken and hasn't been fixed yet because it's still too swollen to operate," he shared on Facebook late yesterday afternoon. "The break is still bleeding out as you can see by the color of my fingers... but I'm at The Young and the Restless today filming because we have so much to do for our huge November sweeps story lines! I have surgery scheduled for tomorrow morning where they will screw and wire my elbow back together."

But not all is gloom and doom for the tough Australian. Though he's in a lot of pain, he gave a heartfelt thank you to all of his fans for their support. "You have been such a source of comfort, support and strength over the last few days and I truly and dearly appreciate every single message wishing me well," he wrote. "You have no idea... how much it means to me. I love you!"

UPDATE (September 25)
Goddard took to Facebook after his surgery to give fans an update on his progress. "Surgery is done but I'm bed ridden cause I have to keep my elbow and arm above my heart to control all the swelling and internal bleeding from the break," he shared. "Right now my arm looks like it got frostbite while climbing Mount Everest. Now there would've been a story! Anyway... I hope you're all well and taking care of yourself... please be careful love you. Daniel"
