Kelly Sullivan to star in new Tyler Perry series

The Young and the Restless and General Hospital alum Kelly Sullivan will soon spice things up in a new Tyler Perry scripted drama series.

While Sharon might be haunted by visions of Sage on The Young and the Restless, fans of actress Kelly Sullivan (ex-Sage Warner; ex-Connie Falconeri, General Hospital) can rest easy at night, knowing that the actress will soon be back on their television screens.

Sullivan is one of the stars of a new TLC series, Too Close to Home, written, directed, and produced (as nearly all of his projects are) by Tyler Perry. Too Close to Home will be the first scripted series on TLC.

Production on the series began this week, according to Deadline, and will air as an eight-part series later this summer.

Danielle Savre will headline the series, and Melrose Place alum Heather Locklear will appear as a guest star. Brock O'Hurn, Brad Benedict, and Brooke Anne Smith also star in the series.

Too Close to Home follows "a young woman who escaped her working-class upbringing in Alabama to start fresh in Washington, D.C." She ultimately finds herself back in the same situation that she tried to escape.

"We are thrilled with this dynamic cast for our first-ever scripted project on TLC," said Nancy Daniels, TLC's president and GM. "Tyler Perry has proven time and time again that his characters are at the crux of great storytelling. Too Close to Home is yet another example of that, and we know our viewers will be enthralled with how this story unfolds."

Tyler Perry's drama series have welcomed soap stars into their ranks in the past. All My Children alum Aiden Turner appears on If Loving You Is Wrong and Tika Sumpter (ex-Layla Williamson, One Life to Live) and Shari Headley (ex-Mimi Reed, AMC) appear on The Haves and the Have Nots. Both of those series air on OWN.

In May, Sullivan bid farewell to her role on Y&R. "RIP Sage," the actress wrote on Twitter. "It was such an amazing run! Thank you to the fans for all your love and support. And thank you to my Y&R family."
