Disney has given the green light to Fast Layne, a new live-action series starring The Young and the Restless' Sophie Pollono (ex-Delia Abbott).

A tragic car accident took the life of The Young and the Restless' Delia Abbott, so it's a little bit of an interesting twist that a car-related series is bringing the character's former portrayer Sophie Pollono her potential big break.

Deadline reports that the young actress has been cast as the lead in the upcoming Disney series Fast Layne. The family-friendly show follows a twelve-year-old overachiever named Layne who finds her orderly life thrown into a tailspin when she discovers a sophisticated talking car named V.I.N. hidden in an abandoned shed. With the help of her eccentric neighbor, Zora (Sofia Rosinsky), Layne embarks on a high-speed adventure filled with bad guys, secret agents, and other surprises to unlock the mystery behind V.I.N.'s creation.

Brandon Rossel is set to play Cody, a cute boy at Layne's school with a talent for fixing cars. Winslow Fegley has been cast as Mel, Layne's nosy younger cousin who is determined to uncover her secret.

Says Adam Bonnett, EVP Original Programming at Disney Channels Worldwide, on working with creator Travis Braun and executive producers Matt Dearborn and Tom Burkhard: "We're thrilled to be working with Matt, Tom and Travis on this exciting, action-packed journey that showcases two unlikely friends in the driver's seat of a sentient, self-driving car. This limited series allows our audience to go an adventure with these kids with nonstop action, comedy and mystery in a unique genre they haven't experienced before on Disney Channel."

Pollono played the role of Billy Abbott and Chloe Mitchell's young daughter from 2011 to 2013, when the character was killed in a hit-and-run car accident. She returned to the show as a ghost and in flashbacks in 2014 -- the same year Y&R took home a slew of Daytime Emmy Awards for the storyline that centered on Delia's tragic and untimely death.

Fast Layne is set to debut later this year in a limited series run.
