Soap opera actors play their characters day in and day out, meaning they know them better than anyone else. So, when The Young and the Restless asked some its stars to explain how they most relate to their individual characters, the actors' answers were well thought out and incredibly moving.
"Jack reacts quickly to something that upsets him, something that irks him," explains Peter Bergman (Jack Abbott). "I sit and stew with it and let it bother me for a while and wonder if I'm interpreting it wrong -- and it's probably not good for me. I admire that in Jack."
Meanwhile, Camryn Grimes wishes she was as witty and funny as her character, Mariah Copeland.
"Sometimes I read her, her comebacks, and her little, her little needles, her witty banter," she says. "And I'm like, 'I wish I was that funny in real life!'"
The video also features Jordi Vilasuso (Rey Rosales), who expresses how proud he is to be portraying his Cuban culture on daytime TV; Bryton James (Devon Hamilton), who shares that he relates to his character's tendency to act before thinking; and Jason Canela (Arturo Rosales), who shares that he admires how his alter ego lives completely in the moment without thinking about trivial things like what he'll post on Instagram.
