Fans who tuned in to the Tuesday, March 19, episode of The Young and the Restless had the fortune of meeting a brand-new character: the long lost father of Ana Hamilton (Loren Lott).
Actor Gilbert Glenn Brown made his debut as the character, an R&B singer named Jett Slade. Y&R is keeping mum about what viewers can expect from the Genoa City newbie, and since Ana is quite private about her personal life, it's anybody's guess as to how Jett will fit onto the canvas in the weeks to come. As viewers of the CBS soap opera may recall, Ana's mother, Yolanda, was addicted to crack when Ana was born, and the singer's father has thus far been unknown.
Though Y&R is Gilbert's first daytime role, he's had plenty of experience in the world of drama. He has appeared on television series like Dynasty, The Resident, The Passage, Stranger Things, Queen Sugar, and The Inspectors. The New York City native also has a pivotal role in the upcoming feature film Best of Enemies, which stars Sam Rockwell and Taraji Henson (set for release theatrically on Friday, April 5).
When he's not acting, Gilbert can be found teaching at Columbia College Hollywood, coaching actors or volunteering his time with afterschool programs in southern Los Angeles, and writing stories, plays, and comic books.
What do you think about Y&R casting Gilbert Glenn Brown as Ana's father? Why do you think Jett Slade has decided to find his daughter in Genoa City? We want to hear from you -- and there are many ways you can share your thoughts.
