For weeks -- or perhaps months -- Chance's name has been bandied about on-screen on The Young and the Restless. Savvy soap fans know that a character usually isn't mentioned unless he or she will soon be returning to the canvas. But with each passing week, many fans began to wonder if the rumored Chance return was just one big red herring.
Now we know the truth: it was not.
The Young and the Restless has cast soap newcomer Donny Boaz in the role of Phillip "Chance" Chancellor IV. The actor shared the news on social media and indicated that he hasn't even been able to tell his family and friends the good news!
"Soooo... this happened," Boaz wrote. "I signed a multi-year deal and have now been working on The Young and the Restless for 6 weeks."
Soooo... this happened. I signed a multi-year deal and have now been working on "The Young and the Restless" for 6 weeks. And now, I finally get to share it with my friends and family. I will be playing Chance... https://t.co/eRwZ0Giqym— Donny (@DonnyBoaz) November 5, 2019
While Y&R is Boaz's first daytime gig, he has an impressive list of film and television credits. He's had a recurring role on NCIS: New Orleans, and he appeared in last year's Lifetime holiday film Hometown Christmas. He also has a plethora of projects that are either in development or recently wrapped.
Chance was introduced on Y&R back in 1988. John Driscoll was holding down the role the last time that Chance was spotted in Genoa City eight years ago -- in November 2011.
Look for Boaz to make what is being called "a dramatic entrance" on November 8 -- and it shouldn't come as a surprise that the 8th is a Friday.
