The Young and the Restless star Mishael Morgan (Amanda Sinclair; ex-Hilary Curtis) has produced a moving video called "The I Have A Dream Project" in celebration of Juneteenth, the commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States. The holiday originated in Texas and denotes the day that Union army general Gordon Granger announced in Galveston, Texas, that all slaves in Texas were free. The announcement came more than two years after Abraham Lincoln formally issued the Emancipation Proclamation.
In the video, actors use the words of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s "I Have A Dream" speech with the hope of continuing to inspire social justice reform and create conversations that address systematic racism not just in the United States, but worldwide. Nearly 60 years after its August 28, 1963, delivery, the speech continues to resonate today.
The diverse roster of talent appearing in the video spans different backgrounds, ages, races, sexual orientations, and countries. Daytime fans will recognize Brytni Sarpy (Elena Dawson, Y&R), Christel Khalil (Lily Winters, Y&R), Bryton James (Devon Hamilton, Y&R), Sean Dominic (Nate Hastings, Y&R), and Tamara Braun (ex-Kim Nero, Days of our Lives; ex-Carly Corinthos, General Hospital).
