Brief Character History

Daughter of Jeff Webber, 15-year-old Elizabeth was a troubled teenager when she went to live with her grandmother, Audrey Hardy, and sister, Sarah. Though naturally antagonistic towards her more amenable sister, Elizabeth had a specific axe to grind with Sarah -- Sarah was the object of Lucky Spencer's affections, whom Elizabeth herself was enamored of. Despite the fact that Sarah was in love with Nikolas Cassadine, Elizabeth made several attempts to discredit Sarah both in school and in her personal life, to no avail. Elizabeth grew frustrated.

Elizabeth's life changed forever on the night of the school Valentine's Day dance. Walking through the park on her way home, Elizabeth was attacked from behind by a stranger and violently raped. It was Lucky who became a pillar of support and helped her in her quest to find the identity of her rapist. Unfortunately, Liz wrongly suspected her English teacher, Mr. Murty of committing the rape and decided to confront him when she tracked him down to his home. Emotionally distraught, Liz accidentally ended up stabbing Lucky before learning that Mr. Murty couldn't have raped her. He was gay and had a lover.

Liz finally discovered the identity of her rapist when she teamed up with Lucky, Nikolas, and Emily to discover who was blackmailing her friend, Emily Quartermaine, with altered photos in which Emily appeared to be nude. As it turned out, a photographer named Tom was the person blackmailing Emily. When Liz and Emily realized this, Tom held them at gunpoint and locked then in the darkroom at his studio. In the process, Tom also admitted that he had been the person who had raped Liz in the park. Lucky and Nikolas rescued Emily and Liz, and Tom was arrested.

By this time Liz and Lucky realized that they were deeply in love with each other and decided to go steady. Liz and Lucky set their sights on a future together, and Liz was surprised when Lucky suggested she attend an art school in New York City. Liz was hesitant, until Lucky promised that he would go to New York with her. Lucky surprised Liz when he bought her a new dress and hinted at a big Valentine's Day surprise. When Valentine's Day arrived, Lucky took Liz to a romantic empty church and they vowed to love each other forever. Their love met an untimely end when a devastated Liz learned that Lucky had been killed in a fire. In time, Liz allowed Emily and Nikolas to comfort her, but wondered how she would continue to live without Lucky.

One night, Liz went to Jake's looking for trouble, and she found it in the form of a male patron who wouldn't take no for an answer. Jason Morgan rushed to Liz's rescue, and she ended up confiding her troubles to him. Jason also found it easy to talk to Liz, and both were comfortable with their easy rapport. Liz assisted Jason's after he was shot by Moreno, and she took Jason to her studio. Jason refused to let Liz contact either the police or Sonny, but Liz took matters into her own hands and arranged for Bobbie to treat Jason's wound.

Liz convinced Jason to stay at her studio with her, and he eventually made a full recovery. In the process, Liz and Jason became very close friends. Liz almost fell victim to Sorel's violence after a bomb was placed in her studio, but Jason was able to rescue her as Roy defused the bomb. Jason realized his friendship with Liz was placing her in danger. Soon thereafter, Liz was crushed when Jason left Port Charles.

Liz's life took another unexpected twist when Nik gave her the shocking news that Lucky was in fact alive. It would eventually be revealed that the fire had been staged, and Helena and Faison had taken steps to ensure the DNA test showed Lucky had been inside. When an overjoyed Liz finally was face-to-face with Lucky, he wasn't the same person he had been before the fire. Every time Liz reached out to Lucky, he would push her away, but Liz felt in her heart that Lucky still loved her. Liz, Lucky, and Nikolas teamed up and rescued Emily when she was blackmailed once again -- this time by Gia Campbell. During this time, Liz and Lucky were able to connect on several occasions, but Lucky would always end up pushing Liz away in the end.

In time, Lucky realized something was wrong with his mind, but still didn't know that Helena had brainwashed him. Shortly afterwards, Liz witnessed Helena using her trigger phrase on Lucky and realized he was under her spell. Lucky then started seeing Kevin Collins in an effort to erase the hold Helena had over him. With Lucky seemingly out from under Helena's spell, he and Liz were free to express their real feelings for one another. Around the same time, Lucky talked Liz into becoming a model for his mother's company, Deception Cosmetics. Liz battled Taggert's sister, Gia Campbell, for the position. Eventually, Gia would become the Face of Deception, in part because of part-owner, Carly Corinthos' manipulations and in part because Liz was never quite comfortable in front of the camera.

When Jason Morgan returned to town, Liz couldn't seem to stay away from him, much to Lucky's dismay. Eventually, Liz did refocus on Lucky but he was under Helena's control once more. This time, in the hopes of getting the Ice Princess, the means by which Helena controlled Lucky, Nikolas, Lucky, and Liz tried to set up a trap. While Liz hid in a nearby closet, Lucky let himself be hypnotized by Helena, thinking he could resist her compulsions. Unfortunately, Helena proved too powerful, and she was able to successfully erase all of Lucky's memories of loving Liz. But she wasn't done with the brothers and Liz.

To keep Liz from foiling her plans, Helena commanded Nikolas to kill Elizabeth. Liz went to Bobbie and asked for a drug that could simulate death. Bobbie gave her a drug, and she used it to make it appear as though Nikolas had killed her. Helena then ordered Nikolas to dispose of the body. Sonny spirited Liz out of town so she would be safe. When the Spencer/Cassadine feud seemed to finally be over and it was safe for Elizabeth to return home, Liz quickly reunited with Lucky. They threw together an impromptu wedding, but Liz's dreams were dashed when she realized at the altar that Lucky had never regained his feelings for her. Lucky again convinced Liz to try to start over.

Soon after Sarah's return, Liz was in a car accident that threatened her life. Gia was at fault, but Liz had no memory of it. Nikolas and Gia moved Liz into Wyndemere to recover, while trying to ensure Liz never remembered Gia's role in the accident. Meanwhile Lucky and Sarah continued to grow closer, and began having feelings for one another. Liz remembered the truth about the accident and was devastated that Nikolas and Gia had conspired to keep Liz the truth from her in an effort to protect Gia. To make matters worse, Liz, who had suspected their growing attraction, uncovered the truth about Lucky and Sarah when an infatuated Maxie sent Liz to Lucky's room, knowing he was in there making love to Sarah.

Liz felt betrayed by everyone in her life and became reckless, fed up with wasting her life on the sidelines. Around this time, Zander Smith, who had secretly been harboring feelings for his boss's ex-wife, Carly Corinthos, started spiraling out of control because of Jason's return. Believing that not only were Jason and Carly in love with each other but carrying on an affair behind Sonny's back, Zander went to Sonny with his suspicions. Sonny practically laughed in Zander's face. Worse, when Zander demanded Sonny choose between Jason and himself as his right hand man, Sonny didn't hesitate to pick Jason. He told Zander that Jason had always been his partner and right hand man.

Livid, Zander left and went straight to Sonny's enemies to sell vital information on Sonny's organization; which would help take Sonny down. Sonny retaliated by instruction Jason to teach a spurned Zander a lesson that landed him in the hospital from a bad beating. Liz, who had found Zander, took him back to her loft to recuperate and to protect him from Jason.

A short while later, Liz was kidnapped by Sonny's enemies. They hoped to use her close relationship to Jason against him. Zander, however witnessed the abduction and recognized one of the men as having previously worked for Sorel. Jason and Zander worked to rescue Liz, but Zander ended up getting kidnapped as well. They were locked in the same crypt together and during that time, they grew closer. By the time Jason saved them, moments before the crypt exploded, Zander's feelings for Liz were more than friendship. Shortly after the rescue, Liz found herself at her studio during a power outage. Terrified, she fled and ended up trapped in the stairwell, where Zander found her.

Liz and Zander returned to her studio shortly afterwards and made love. Jason was hurt when he found them together. Liz realized that while she cared for Zander as a friend, their night together had been a mistake. By that time, however, Sonny had put a hit on Zander. Liz, not wanting to see her friend die, turned to Jason for help. Going against Sonny's orders, Jason helped Zander, who was also being hunted by others. Jason hid Zander and Liz in his penthouse. Liz and Jason once again tried to make their relationship work, but because Zander was there, decided to wait until the Zander could safely leave before Liz and Jason became intimate. Unfortunately, their relationship ended abruptly when Liz found out that Jason had kept a secret from her. Sonny had staged his murder but was in fact alive. Liz was hurt that Jason hadn't trusted her with the truth, and she broke things off.

When enigmatic Ric Lansing moved into an apartment above Kelly's, he was immediately intrigued by waitress Liz. Sparks flew, but their relationship progressed slowly. Liz was still in love with Jason, who had moved on with his brother's ex-wife Courtney, Sonny's newfound half-sister. Despite her growing feelings for Ric, Liz was shocked when Carly told her that Ric had raped her. Liz accused Carly of lying, but Liz had to confront Ric, who revealed that he only let Carly think they'd slept together because he needed leverage over Carly and Sonny. Ric was Sonny's half-brother, by Sonny's mother Adela, and Ric always resented that Adela chose to raise Sonny and left Ric alone to be raised by his father, Trevor. Liz didn't know what about Ric was true, and what was an angle Ric was working, but Ric assured Liz that his love for her was the one genuine thing he had in his life.

Ric approached Faith Rosco about teaming up to take Sonny down from the inside out. Faith and Ric plotted to frame Jason Morgan for the murder of Faith's employee, Fowler, by turning in a bloody tire iron with Jason's fingerprints on it. Faith and Ric celebrated by becoming lovers. But Ric's plans differed from Faith's. To achieve the maximum damage, Ric blackmailed Courtney into agreeing to marry him to keep the evidence against Jason out of the hands of the police. Fortunately, Courtney and Jason foiled Ric's plot. Ric felt that he was given a true chance at a happy life when Liz, having found the ring Ric bought for Courtney, told him that if he asked her to marry him, she'd say yes. Ric proposed, and they began planning their future together, while an obsessed Faith planned Liz's demise. Faith wanted Ric for herself, and she was willing to do whatever it took to get Liz out of his life.

Faith set a snake loose in Liz's studio, and Liz was bitten. Liz recovered, and was shocked to learn she was pregnant. Ric and Liz were closer than ever, and with a baby on the way, they married immediately. Faith could see that the obstacle Liz created was compounding, so Faith shoved Liz down a staircase, causing Liz to miscarry her child. Ric found out that Liz had been talking to Sonny just before her fall down the stairs, and Ric decided that Sonny was responsible for the loss of their child. Ric bought a house to share with his new bride, but didn't bother telling Liz that it had with a secret panic room.

Carly and Sonny blissfully organized Jason and Courtney's wedding, completely unaware that Ric was lurking about. On the night Jason and Courtney were to be wed, Ric kidnapped Carly and took her to his panic room, where he revealed that he would be taking her and Sonny's child once it's born and giving it to Liz to raise. Carly was horrified at Ric's plan, while Sonny and Jason scrambled to figure out who had taken Carly and what they wanted in exchange for her safe return. Young Michael had been traumatized by seeing his mother kidnapped, and Sonny and Jason were eventually able to get him to admit to seeing Ric take Carly that fateful night. Carly was disgusted to watch Ric on the monitor in the panic room, as he continued to hide his guilt in her kidnapping; she even watched him go so far as to secretly slip Elizabeth birth control pills to prevent her from getting pregnant again, while Ric waited for Carly to give birth.

Carly thought she was saved when Lorenzo Alcazar found her, but Lorenzo decided to keep Carly's whereabouts to himself to use as a bargaining chip in his own plans for Sonny's territory. Carly was desperate when Jason was searching Ric's house for clues, so she smashed a chair into the monitors, hoping to short out the house's electricity. All Carly accomplished was electrocuting herself. Ric took Carly to a clinic and decided to let her go. Unfortunately, Lorenzo Alcazar had other plans and took her right back to the panic room when the doctor announced both mother and child were fine.

Once again, Carly thought she was saved when Elizabeth found the secret button to the panic room door. Elizabeth was floored to discover Ric's shocking secret, and suffered an embolism from the birth control pills before she could notify anyone. Ric returned home in time to lock Carly up once again, and take Elizabeth to the hospital. Elizabeth soon remembered seeing Carly and told the police about what Ric had done, but by then, Lorenzo had moved Carly. Ric tried desperately to prove his love to Liz, but she refused to believe that he ever spoke anything other than lies.

Courtney suffered a miscarriage, her grief fueling her jealousy, and when Jason and Liz supported each other while Emily's cancer took its toll on her, Courtney saw red. Courtney developed a dependency on painkillers, and ended up running Liz down with her car. Liz was rendered blind from the hit-and-run, and Ric was arrested after Faith damaged Ric's headlight to frame him. Liz slowly regained her eyesight, and Ric wanted her to see him in a new light. But Liz still saw Ric for who he was: a twisted, emotionally scarred, and vengeful man. Ric began his walk on the long hard road to redemption by proving he was past his hatred for Sonny. Port Charles was shocked beyond words when Scott Baldwin made Ric his Assistant District Attorney.

Determined to move on, Liz sought physical comfort from Zander, who himself was reeling from his breakup with his wife Emily. Ric and Liz did eventually work their way back to each other, but their reunion was marred by the news that Liz was pregnant with Zander's child after their one night together. Ric and Elizabeth married again, and Ric intended to raise the child as his own, but they decided to tell Zander beforehand to hopefully dissuade any problems that Zander might bring in the future. Zander agreed to let them raise the child. He was later believed to have died in the Port Charles Hotel fire but had, in fact, survived. He kidnapped Emily and tried to get her to run away with him, to no avail. Despondent, Zander agreed to turn himself in to the police, who had by then surrounded the cabin he had taken Emily to. When he walked out, he pretended to reach for a gun and ended up being shot to death by the police.

Liz and Ric's marriage unfortunately soon fell apart when Liz realized that Ric still harbored an obsession to see Sonny punished and sent to jail. Realizing that they could never really be happy, Liz divorced Ric and left town to have her baby. She returned with baby Cameron and surprised Audrey with the news that she had enrolled in school to follow her grandmother's footsteps and become a nurse.

She also reconnected with Lucky Spencer. They soon fell in love, but all was not bliss. Lucky was gravely injured trying to save Emily from Helena's homicidal intents. He lingered in a coma for some time but eventually woke up and made a full recovery. Liz and Lucky decided to move in together but couldn't afford much. Lucky was starting out on the police force and had mounting hospital bills. Liz, meanwhile, was a student nurse supporting a young child. They found a one bedroom apartment and tried to make the best of it, but they struggled.

Finally, Liz devised with a solution to their financial woes. She had learned that Jax and Courtney were looking for a surrogate to carry their child. Lucky was initially reluctant. He didn't like the idea of Liz carrying another man's child but eventually he agreed. They moved forward with their plans but hit a snag when Courtney learned that her eggs were not viable. Liz agreed to donate her own egg for the in vitro-fertilization procedure. Lucky was even more uncomfortable with the idea but supported Liz's decision anyway.

Liz conceived, and all were happy until Courtney started feeling left out by the process. She turned to Nikolas Cassadine, whose own marriage was under strain. As Courtney and Jax grew further apart, Jax began paying more and more attention to Liz. Lucky resented Jax throwing his money around and showering Liz and Cam with gifts. Liz reassured Lucky that she had no interest whatsoever in Jax. She loved Lucky. Things went from bad to worse when Courtney and Nikolas began having real feelings for each other.

Eventually Jax and Emily realized that they were having an affair of the heart. Hurt, they both ended their marriages. Liz balked at the idea of handing her child over to a broken home. She had strong beliefs about a child being raised in a home with two parents. Lucky supported Liz's decision to keep the baby. Jax, naturally, objected. He wanted to be a part of their child's life and fought Liz. Desperate to convince Liz to stick to their original agreement, Jax pretended to forgive Courtney and reconciled with her. His plan was to stay married to her long enough for Liz to give birth and hand over their baby and then divorce Courtney.

Courtney soon caught onto Jax's scheme and left him for good. Liz and Jax continued to argue over custody, but eventually they decided to focus on what was best for their baby. They agreed to share custody and mended fences. One night, while Jax was driving Liz home from work, they ended up in a car accident. Jax had swerved to avoid hitting Carly, who had run out into the road and frozen when she saw the approaching headlights. Liz was knocked out for a few minutes. When she came to, she didn't remember seeing Carly. Jax got Liz to the hospital right away, and she was checked out and given a clean bill of health. Later that evening, Liz collapsed in the kitchen. She was rushed back to the hospital, where she suffered a miscarriage. Later, Liz tried to return the money that Jax had paid her, but Jax refused to accept it. He felt Liz more than deserved the money after everything she had been through.

Liz was devastated over the loss of her child. Lucky was a source of strength for her, and they fell deeper in love. When Liz and Lucky decided to get married, Emily and Nikolas stepped in. Emily and Nikolas insisted on throwing the couple a lavish wedding. Lucky and Liz were married in a beautiful ceremony at Wyndemere on October 21, 2005. Their marriage would be a happy one for a short time, but Lucky would not live up to his name. He was injured in the line of duty several times and hospitalized. Lucky and Liz soon found themselves drowning in debt once again.

After suffering a debilitating spinal injury, Lucky began depending on his morphine more than he should. Within a short time, he became addicted to the drug. He hid his dependency, but those close to him began to suspect something was wrong with him. Lucky became short and abrasive with those around him, especially Liz, whom he began suspecting of having an affair with Dr. Patrick Drake. She wasn't. Patrick had found Liz a part-time job as a private nurse so that she could earn more money to pay down their debt. Patrick was also helping Liz study to become a surgical nurse so that she could make more money as a specialized nurse.

The more Lucky's addiction grew, the more his jealousy grew. He resented Liz sneaking behind his back, working jobs. It made him feel as if she didn't have any confidence in him as a man. Liz tried to convince him otherwise but the harder she tried, the more damage she did. By the time Lucky left the hospital, he had gone from morphine to hydrocodone.

Maxie Jones, the girlfriend of Lucky's recently murdered partner, Jesse Bodine, recognized Lucky's addiction. She'd always had a crush on Lucky and found a way to get closer to him. She began stealing drugs for him, pretending to understand that he needed it for his pain but wasn't addicted. Soon, Maxie had Lucky where she wanted him. Lucky was dependent on her to supply him with drugs and she began withholding them for sex.

Liz was blind to what was going on and was unknowingly doing more harm than good. In an effort to salvage Lucky's pride and protect him from harm, Liz asked Jason to help Lucky make a good bust. She was convinced that all Lucky needed was an opportunity to feel successful again. Jason agreed, but things didn't go as planned. Lucky was high on drugs and nearly got himself killed during the stakeout. Jason saved Lucky's life and shot the suspect, who was rushed to General Hospital. Lucky had no idea that Jason had been there. He was so high that he believed he had shot the suspect himself.

Patrick removed the bullet and realized that it was not from Lucky's gun. He went to Liz with the information, and she begged him not to tell anyone. Patrick agreed but urged Liz to talk to Lucky. He was concerned that Lucky had a drug problem. Liz was in complete denial. She readily believed Lucky's claims that he only took the pills when he felt pain and that he had complete control over his use.

Things became even more strained though. Lucky received a commendation for his big arrest. After the ceremony, Lucky went to meet Maxie to score some pills. Liz was at Kelly's, throwing a party for Lucky that he never showed up for. At least not that Liz knew. At the end of the party, Carly saw Lucky and Maxie go up to her room. She decided to tell Liz, feeling that Liz would want to know. Liz didn't believe Carly. She insisted on going upstairs herself.

Liz was shattered when she saw Lucky and Maxie in bed together through a crack in the door. She went home and called her grandmother. She asked her grandmother to keep Cam and then waited for Lucky to return home. When he did, she gave him enough rope to hang himself. She told him what she had seen and demanded that Lucky stop taking the pills and stop seeing Maxie if he wanted to save their marriage. Lucky agreed, but he did not mean it. He continued using and seeing Maxie, who was convinced that she was in love with Lucky.

Determined to break up Lucky's marriage, Maxie decided to set up Liz to walk in on her and Lucky together. She left a message for Liz at work one night, pretending to be a neighbor concerned about strange noises emanating from Liz's apartment. Liz raced home and walked in to find Lucky and Maxie all over each other and Lucky using pills. Disgusted and fed up, Liz told Lucky that their marriage was over and walked out. She tried going back to work, but Epiphany realized that something was very wrong with Liz and told her to go home. She felt that Liz wouldn't be of any good to the patients in her condition.

Heartbroken over Lucky's betrayal, Liz left the hospital and started walking. Before she realized it, she found herself standing at Jason's penthouse door. Jason opened the door, and the words started tumbling out. She told him about Lucky's addiction and finding him in bed with Maxie, not just at Kelly's but also in her own home. Jason had his own sorrows. He'd just returned from Alexis; house where he had gone to reconcile with Sam. When he got there, he'd found Sam and Ric having sex on the living room floor.

As they talked, Liz and Jason began revisiting the past and their feelings. Jason reached out to Liz, and they ended up giving in to the attraction that they'd always fought. They made love several times that night. The next morning, Liz thanked Jason for being there for her but told him that she couldn't be with him again. She had her son Cameron to think about and didn't want him exposed to Jason's life.

Jason understood and respected Liz's decision. She went home to pack her things and found a note from Lucky. He had decided to go to a Narcotics Anonymous meeting. Liz went to see for herself. Sure enough, Lucky was at a meeting. Liz realized that Lucky deserved another chance. She told Jason that she intended to stay with Lucky but felt it was best that he not learn of Liz and Jason's night of passion. She wanted Lucky to focus on his recovery. Jason understood and wished Liz well.

Sadly, Lucky's recovery would be short-lived. Learning that his baby sister, Lulu, was pregnant and intent on having an abortion sent him back to Maxie, who was waiting for him with pills. Things went from bad to worse when Liz found some pills on the living room floor. Realizing that Cam could have found them and taken them, Liz knew she could no longer stay with Lucky. She told Nikolas that she was leaving Lucky. Nikolas raced over to Maxie's apartment at Kelly's to pull Lucky out of her bed and let him know what was going on. Lucky went home to stop Liz from leaving, and they ended up in a terrible fight. One thing led to another, and Liz was knocked to the floor when Lucky tried to physically keep her from leaving. Nikolas walked in just at that moment and raced to Liz's aid.

Liz moved in with Audrey and filed for divorce. It was around that time that Liz learned that Lulu had gotten pregnant from defective Enduro condoms manufactured by ELQ. Worried, Liz managed to sneak into Jason's apartment to see what brand of condoms he used. Sure enough, they were Enduro condoms. Liz took a pregnancy test and learned that she was pregnant. She realized that Jason could be the father. Before she could decide what to do, Liz ended up being nearly shot when Lucky stole drugs from the police lockup and tried to frame Jason. Furious with Lucky's recklessness, Elizabeth let it slip that she was pregnant. Lucky immediately assumed the child was his. He vowed to get clean for the baby and checked himself into rehab.

Jason quickly realized that he could be the father of the baby, too, and asked Liz. She admitted that there was a possibility. Jason offered to marry Liz regardless of whether the baby was his or not. Liz pointed out that he was in love with Sam still and would not be happy tied to Liz and the children. She also knew that Jason wanted to reconcile with Sam. They decided to put off making any plans until they knew for certain who the father of the baby was. Jason agreed to do a paternity test.

Before the test was done, Jason and Sam reconciled, and he told her about the baby. Sam was devastated. She was certain that Jason would turn out to be the father and did not deal with the possibility well. She was angry and confronted Liz on the docks one evening, accusing Liz of using her pregnancy to get what she'd always wanted, Jason. Jason walked up and stopped Sam from continuing on with her tirade.

Before the paternity tests were back, Sonny and Carly would learn of the pregnancy as well. Carly didn't take the news any better than Sam. She was convinced that Liz would trick Jason into marriage. When the results finally were back, Liz wasn't surprised by the results. She had suspected who the father was all along. Sonny happened to be present when she read them and misread her reaction. He assumed Lucky was the father and told Carly.

Carly raced over to Jason's to give him the happy news. What she failed to see was that Jason was disappointed. He hid it well. By the time Liz arrived, Jason told her that Carly had already been by to tell him the results. Liz was surprised that he thought Lucky was the father. Jason pretended to be happy about the news. Before Liz could tell him the truth, Sam walked in, and Jason told her that he was not the father. Sam was overjoyed. Liz decided to let everyone believe that Lucky was the father and left.

Liz kept her secret until the Metro Court hostage crisis. When the police stormed the building with smoke bombs and the gunmen detonated explosives, Jason was on hand to sweep Liz up in his arms and whisk her to safety. They ended up in an elevator, where they were trapped for a period of time. Liz decided to tell Jason the truth; that the baby she was carrying was his. Jason was thrilled. He'd never been able to look at Liz's advancing pregnancy without feeling pangs of regret that he wasn't the child's father.

Jason insisted on telling Sam the truth after they were rescued. Liz realized she had no choice but to tell Lucky, who by that time had gone through his rehab program and been reinstated to the police force. Unfortunately, she couldn't find the words. His partner, Cruz, had stopped by to visit Liz in the hospital and told her that Lucky had been suicidal after he thought Liz had been killed in the explosion. Then Lucky walked in and told Liz that he was finally letting her go. She couldn't find the words to tell him the truth about the baby. Later, Luke stopped by and talked to Liz about the power of forgiveness and how it could restore lost love.

Liz checked out of the hospital and went to find Lucky. She told him that she finally saw the boy that she had fallen in love with all those years before, and if he were still interested, she would be honored to re-marry him. Lucky was thrilled. He had asked Liz to marry him again a couple of times before, but she'd always turned him down. Meanwhile, Jason was having an equally difficult time telling Sam the truth about the baby that Liz carried. Sam told Jason that just before the hostage situation, she had learned that she was unable to conceive. Jason realized that she would not be able to handle hearing the news about Liz's baby. He and Liz decided to let Lucky raise the baby as his. They both felt it would be safer for the baby and cause less hurt to the ones that they loved.

What they failed to realize was that the emotional bonds growing between them were not going to go away. Liz went ahead and married Lucky while Jason tried to make it work with Sam. Things were not going well. Sam was more determined than ever to find a way to have a child, despite being told that even if she could conceive, her uterus was so badly damaged from a shooting the year before that she would not be able to carry a baby full-term. Fearing she would lose Jason without a family, Sam began looking into other ways to have a child, including hiring a surrogate. It was around that time that Liz gave birth to her son.

It was a complicated delivery. Liz had gone into labor at home, alone, and was bleeding heavily. Jason just happened to stop by and found Liz. He rushed her to the hospital, where Liz underwent emergency surgery. Things were touch-and-go with both mother and child, but eventually they were stabilized. Liz's health remained fragile. Shortly after waking up and holding her son, Liz slipped into a coma. She underwent more surgery but didn't immediately wake up. Earlier, Liz had told Jason that if anything happened to her, she wanted him to step forward and claim their son. She felt their child should grow up with at least one of his biological parents. Jason was prepared to do just that when Liz finally woke up.

As Liz recuperated, she finally decided on a name for her son. She named him Jacob Martin. She chose the name Jacob because it was a strong name and Martin to honor her maternal grandfather. What she failed to tell anyone but Jason was that the other reason she chose the names was because Jake would have the same initials as his biological father. Jason was touched. What neither realized was that Sam had overheard one of their conversations and learned that Jake was Jason's son. Sam was deeply hurt and angry. She realized that it was only a matter of time before she lost Jason to Liz.

Sam's pain and fury grew as each day passed. By the time Jason was arrested for Lorenzo's murder, Sam's relationship with Jason was very strained. Her resentment of Liz consumed her until one day, Sam found herself standing behind some bushes, watching a bereaved mother who had taped a segment earlier that day on Sam's show, snatch Jake out of his stroller. Before long, Lainey suspected that Liz might have harmed Jake as a result of postpartum depression. Jason was one of the few people who absolutely refused to believe Liz was capable of harming her son. He berated Lucky for not having more faith in his wife and the woman he professed to love.

By that time, Amelia Joffee, Sam's producer, had clued Jason in about what was going on with Sam. She told him that Sam had targeted, married, and stolen every last penny from five different men under various aliases. Jason wasn't bothered by Sam's past, but he was bothered to learn that Sam knew that Jake was his son. When he was released on bail, Jason worked with Amelia to find Jake. She had made several calls to Maureen to follow up on some legal matters regarding the segment they had taped about her story and heard a baby crying in the background.

Since Maureen's baby had died tragically in a fire months earlier, Amelia thought it was strange and suspected the worst. She and Jason raced to Maureen's home and found Jake. Jason was stunned to learn from Maureen that Sam had witnessed the kidnapping. Jason returned his son to Liz and had a short reunion until Lucky returned home. Jealous that Jason was once again Liz's hero, Lucky called the police and had them arrive to pick up Jason to take him back into custody. In the course of recovering Jake, Jason had crossed county lines and jumped bail.

Liz and Lucky grew farther apart. Liz resented Lucky's reaction and felt that he should have been grateful, not vindictive because he wasn't the hero. Liz's frequent visits with Jason in jail didn't help matters. As Jason's trial neared, Liz was called as a witness. She was worried about testifying, since she had been present during a call Sonny had made ordering Jason to kill Lorenzo. Jason told her not to worry about him but to tell the truth. When Liz finally took the stand, Ric was ready. He forced her to reveal that she had slept with Jason the summer her son was conceived. When he pushed her to reveal the paternity of her son, Liz lied on the stand, insisting the father was Lucky. Lucky was present and completely shattered by the news that Liz and Jason has slept together.

It was the beginning of the end for Lucky and Liz's marriage. She could no longer lie to herself about her feelings for Jason, but she was determined to stay in her marriage. Guilt over hurting Lucky and fear of Jake being exposed to the dangers of Jason's life kept her in the marriage. Lucky sensed that Liz's heart wasn't in it, and his resentment toward her grew. Sam, meanwhile, was determined to make Liz pay for stealing Jason's heart and getting away with her paternity lie. She began cozying up to Lucky, showering him with praise and attention. Lucky soaked it up like a sponge, and before long, he was fighting his attraction to Sam. Sam was overjoyed. Her plans to destroy Liz's marriage were going well.

Lucky grew frustrated with Liz who refused to be intimate, knowing that he was just trying to use her to scratch an itch he had for Sam. Things finally came to a head, and Lucky turned to Sam. They had sex, and the next morning he returned home. Liz knew where Lucky had spent the night. Nikolas had stopped by earlier to tell her that he had tried to reason with both Lucky and Sam, to no avail. Lucky realized that Liz's lack of tears and hurt indicated that she no longer loved him. They finally talked it out and decided to divorce. Liz took responsibility for the marriage falling apart. She admitted that she had married Lucky when she knew that she was not in love with him.

The truth was, Liz was in love with Jason and had been for some time. Jason, too, admitted that he was in love with Liz. Despite their feelings, though, they realized that they faced the same obstacles. Being together meant exposing both Cam and Jake to the dangers of Jason's life. Liz found a place of her own and decided to raise her sons as a single mother. The divorce between Lucky and Liz wasn't without problems. Alexis foolishly advised Lucky to go for sole custody of the kids. Diane, Liz's attorney, argued that Lucky was a recovering drug addict. She convinced the judge to give Liz custody of the children and suspend his visitation with the children until a settlement could be reached through a mediator. Eventually, Liz agreed to give Lucky unlimited visitation as long as she retained primary custody.

Sam was not satisfied. She was frustrated that Liz always managed to get her way. When Nik and Emily hosted a Black and White Ball, Sam had several ugly confrontations with Liz, one that turned physical. She was determined that Lucky should learn the truth about Jake. While a homicidal maniac terrorized the guests on Spoon Island who were stranded there in a violent storm and no power, Sam forced the issue. She was screaming at Liz, insisting Liz tell Lucky the truth. By that time, Liz had learned that not only had Sam witnessed Jake's kidnapping and done nothing but that she had later hired two goons to terrorize Liz and the kids in the park one day. As the two women argued, Jason walked in and decided to tell Lucky the truth about Jake.

Lucky was furious. He lashed out at Liz, calling her names and ranting at her. Sam stood back and enjoyed the show. Her satisfaction would be short-lived, though, when she realized that rather than destroying Liz's world, she'd just made Jason's bond with Liz stronger. Lucky stormed out, and Sam followed him. She tried to talk to him, but Lucky just couldn't deal with learning that Jake was not his son.

As the night of the party drew to a close, Liz learned that her best friend, Emily, had been murdered. She and Jason went to help Nik, who refused to allow anyone to move Emily's body. At Emily's funeral, Liz gave her best friend a touching eulogy and then went home to an empty house -- or so she thought. Jason was there, waiting for her in the dark. They didn't say anything. They just held each other and then went upstairs to her bedroom and made love. Jason and Liz talked about their deep love, but both realized that they faced many obstacles, starting with Lucky. Lucky insisted on remaining Jake's father, claiming that if Liz really cared for her children, she would agree to keep the secret in order to keep them safe. He also insisted that Liz stay away from Jason.

Liz admitted that she was in love with Jason but agreed that Lucky was still the safer choice. She was willing to go along with Lucky's terms but doesn't have much confidence that they would be successful in keeping the lie. Too many people knew the truth about Jake's paternity. However, Liz and Jason couldn't stay apart. They continued to meet in secret and then finally decided to go public with their relationship. Liz happily accepted Jason's proposal of marriage, but within hours, the engagement was over when Jason learned that Michael had been shot in the head by a stray bullet meant for Sonny. Michael lingered in a coma and then was eventually moved to a long-term care facility while Liz and Jason struggled with their decision to stay apart for the sake of the children. Liz and Jason finally realized that they could never be a family after Russian mobsters kidnapped Jake while Liz and Sam were trapped in a cabin. Sam managed to rescue Jake from the Russian safe house before it exploded.

Jason returned his son to Liz and Lucky's waiting arms and then walked away from Jake for the final time. As Liz settled into life without Jason, she and Lucky began to grow close again. They forgave each other for the things that they had done and then started to repair their relationship. Meanwhile, Liz, Lucky, and Nikolas were shocked when a woman named Rebecca Shaw suddenly entered their lives. Rebecca bore an uncanny resemblance to Emily Quartermaine. Rebecca quickly wormed her way into Nikolas' heart and life. However, Rebecca had a secret: she was Emily's long-lost identical twin. Rebecca had targeted Emily's loved ones to scam them out of money. Liz was the only person whom Rebecca hadn't won over. Nikolas was crushed when he learned the truth, despite Rebecca's insistence that she was in love with him.

Nikolas turned to Liz for comfort. The two friends found themselves drawn to each other, even though Liz had become engaged to Lucky. The more that Liz and Nikolas fought their attraction, the stronger it became. One night, Nikolas and Liz made love. Their affair was short-lived because Rebecca and Lucky had learned of it within weeks. Rebecca left town while Lucky broke off his engagement to Liz and then severed all ties with his brother. Liz suffered a nervous breakdown as the affair became public fodder for gossip. She was stunned to learn a short time later that she was expecting her third child.

After a brief stint in Shadybrook, Liz decided to have a paternity test in the hopes of learning that Lucky was the father of her unborn child. However, Helena had other ideas. Helena hatched a scheme to make certain that Nikolas raised Lucky's child, in the hopes of driving a permanent rift between the brothers. Helena paid a technician to make certain that Nikolas was revealed to be the father of the baby. After the paternity tests confirmed that Nikolas was the father, Helena had the technician killed. Nikolas desperately wanted to work things out with Liz because he had fallen in love with her, but Liz was determined to repair her shattered relationship to Lucky. Lucky made it clear that he and Liz were over for good, so he continued to push her away throughout the pregnancy.

It was during this time that Liz met a terminally ill patient named Shirley. Shirley was a spunky older woman with a great sense of humor who had never minced words. Shirley took an instant liking to Liz and Nikolas. As the pregnancy progressed, Shirley never hesitated to let Liz know that Nikolas would be a wonderful father and catch. Liz kept Nikolas at arm's length until she went into premature labor. As Liz and Nikolas anxiously awaited the birth of their son, they made peace. After Aiden's birth, Nikolas invited Liz to move to Wyndemere with Cam and Jake, so that Spencer could get to know Aiden. Liz agreed, but Nikolas could see that she was unhappy. Nikolas decided to reach out to Sarah to secretly arrange a visit between the sisters.

While Liz and the children flew to California to visit Sarah, Nikolas discovered that Brook Lynn had been kicked out of her apartment. Nikolas offered Brook a job as his escort to business and charity events. Brook quickly accepted the job and then moved to Wyndemere. Liz returned from her visit with Sarah with a new perspective. Liz seemed eager to explore a relationship with Nikolas, but quickly realized that Brook posed an obstacle.

During Liz's time out of town, Brook had moved in to Wyndemere with Nikolas as his employee but Liz sensed there was more between them. Liz visited Nikolas often under the guise of allowing him to spend time with Aiden. She allowed Nikolas to have as much access to Aiden as he wished as long as Brook was not present. Elizabeth also invited Nikolas to spend time with her and her children at her home, without Brook.

Jake also spent a brief amount of time with his biological father Jason when Cam and several other children were involved in a bus crash. Liz asked Jason and Sam to look after Jake at the hospital while she spent time with Cam. Lucky and his new girlfriend Siobhan also showed up and the hospital and Liz was surprised by how taken Cam was with Siobhan. Although Cam seemed to be fine, he was admitted overnight as a precaution. Liz left her eldest son with Lucky and picked up Jake. Jason was grateful for the time Liz had allowed them to spend together.

Both Brook and Nikolas had waited with Liz at the hospital until they knew Cam was safe. Nikolas later confessed that he and Brook were a couple and told Liz he hoped his feelings for Brook would not affect their friendship or their ability to be good parents to Aiden. Liz believed Nikolas was making a mistake with Brook but she was soon distracted with thoughts that perhaps Lucky was actually Aiden's father. Her theory gained more substance after Monica remarked that Aiden looked just like Lucky, something that Liz had noticed as well.

Liz ordered another paternity test on Aiden as Lucky announced his intentions to marry Siobhan immediately in order to solve her issues with immigration. Liz received the results of the paternity test after she had witnessed an intimate moment between Nikolas and Brook. When she returned home with her boys, she was distracted by the test results and did not notice that Jake went outside. He was hit by a car, although the driver did not stop. Jake was rushed to the hospital and Liz interrupted Lucky's wedding ceremony with a call demanding that he meet her at the hospital.

Patrick Drake performed surgery on Jake but the injuries he had sustained were too much. He died on March 18, 2011. As Liz struggled to accept the news that her son was gone, Carly asked Jason if Jake's kidneys could be donated to her daughter who was in dire need of a kidney transplant. Since Liz and Lucky had raised Jake, he left the decision up to them. Liz was initially appalled by the idea of using Jake for "spare parts" but Lucky convinced her to go along with the organ donation.

In the weeks after Jake's death, Liz struggled through her grief every day. Lucky's father Luke was revealed to be the driver that had hit Jake, although Liz blamed herself for not keeping a closer eye on him. The paternity results that had distracted her proved that Lucky was Aiden's father but she hesitated to share the news with Lucky. Her affair with Nikolas had torn the brothers apart but they had recently started to repair their relationship and Nikolas was there for Lucky as he grieved. Lucky also finished the marriage ceremony he had Siobhan had started the night of Jake's accident.

Liz eventually returned to work, although her brother, the chief of staff, questioned if it was too soon. Liz claimed she needed the distraction of being back at work, although she had visions of Jake that caused her to occasionally make errors at the hospital. Her friends covered her mistakes and she insisted she was fine. She returned to the operating room and was distracted by a vision of Jake during a surgical procedure. Liz injected the patient with an incorrect medication that could have been fatal if a doctor had not intervened. The patient was Lucky's new wife Siobhan.

In Lucky's grief over Jake, he had set fire to his mother's home, unaware that Siobhan was inside. She pulled from the burning house and Lucky realized he was to blame. He contemplated turning to alcohol to ease his pain but Liz stopped him. She shared the results of the paternity test and declared him Aiden's father. Together they broke the news to Nikolas.

As Siobhan recovered from her surgery, Liz visited her and apologized for her mistake in the operating room. Siobhan was unaware any mistake had been made and accused Liz of trying to kill her so she could have a clear path to Lucky. Several hospital staff members were aware of the mistake Liz had made and she was temporarily suspended. Siobhan was not satisfied with the punishment Liz received and threatened to file a malpractice lawsuit against her until Lucky talked her out of it.

Liz was thrilled to hear that Lucky believed in her and realized she had never intended to cause his wife any harm. The two women tried to be civil in front of Lucky but when he was not around, they argued. Siobhan accused Liz of using Jake's death as an excuse whenever she wanted Lucky's attention or needed sympathy. Siobhan was further infuriated when Liz supported Lucky's decision to investigate an illegal drug ring. Liz agreed to search for information at the hospital to aid Lucky's case.

Siobhan was opposed to Lucky's involvement in the drug case because she feared it would compromise his sobriety. Both Liz and Siobhan worried when Lucky went missing after he had been injected with drugs. The women argued about who was to blame for Lucky's predicament and Siobhan fell down a flight of stairs. Liz took Siobhan to the hospital and then set out again to find Lucky. She found him in an abandoned church. It was the same church where years before they had exchanged vows of their permanent love for one another. Liz stayed with Lucky until he recovered and then broke the news that Siobhan was hospitalized.

Siobhan was murdered during her stay at the hospital and Lucky turned to drugs. Liz hoped to help Lucky solve his drug case so he would be away from the temptation and she followed a lead on her own. She ended up locked inside of Luzetta's bakery with Maxie. The women quarreled but eventually put their differences aside and devised a plan to escape. Their plan partially worked when Maxie made it out. Liz was rescued by Lucky soon after. Liz mistakenly believed her rescue by Lucky was their first step toward reconciliation but Lucky disagreed and took off to Ireland to mourn his wife.

During the investigation of the illegal drug ring, Matt had helped Liz gather information around the hospital and they became closer. Matt told Liz about his deceased mother and his rocky relationship with Maxie, along with the news about his cancer research. He appreciated Liz's friendship and support and he invited her to be his date for a party to celebrate his work being published. Liz agreed.

The party for Matt was held on a chartered boat and Matt flirted with Liz and kissed her. She believed his kiss was not sincere and rejected his advances. When she went to get some fresh air away from Matt, she ran into Lisa Niles. Lisa had secretly boarded the boat to seek revenge on two of the other party guests. Lisa chloroformed Liz and threw her overboard.

Spinelli found Liz on Spoon Island and took her to the hospital. She was treated for hypothermia and struggled to make sense of where she was. She claimed a mysterious man had rescued her and she also experienced hallucinations of Jake. As she recovered, she continued to have visions of her rescuer and insisted he was real. At the same time, Lucky returned from Ireland after he ordered that Aiden by seen by a doctor. Liz was shocked to learn that Aiden had been diagnosed with a rare blood disorder. He received a blood transfusion and was given a clean bill of health.

After the health scare with their son, Liz hoped to rekindle her relationship with Lucky, but he told her they were over. Liz responded by checking herself into Shadybrook for help in dealing with the end of her life with Lucky. She met a doctor named Ewen that posed as a patient. He seemed familiar to Liz but she could not place how she knew him. Both Matt and Lucky visited her and she admitted she faked her breakdown in hopes of changing Lucky's mind about their relationship. Lucky was disappointed that Liz had tried to manipulate him and she checked herself out the same day she was admitted.

Ewen, the psychiatrist Liz met at Shadybrook, offered to counsel Liz but she initially refused his offer. She changed her mind after Lucky said goodbye to the boys and departed for Ireland again. She returned to work and was distracted from her disappointment over Lucky when Robin made a special request. Robin shared that her HIV protocol was no longer working and she asked Liz to care for Patrick and her daughter in her place if she needed to disappear.

Even though Robin had asked Liz to keep her secret, Elizabeth decided that Patrick needed to know about Robin's medical status and her plans to disappear. Patrick was stunned by what Liz shared but he appreciated finding out the truth so he could support his wife. Robin forgave Liz for telling Patrick about her HIV status and they were all relieved when Robin's new drug protocol seemed to work.

Elizabeth decided to give Ewen a chance after he apologized for his deception at Shadybrook. He explained that his methods were often unorthodox but effective. Liz agreed that his methods seemed to work after she spent some time with Ewen and found herself feeling better after their impromptu sessions. The sessions occasionally took place inside of a supply closet at the hospital and Matt took notice of the time of the connection that was developing between Ewen and Liz. He mentioned his concerns to Liz but she assured him that Ewen could be trusted.

While Matt kept a close watch over Liz and Ewen, Maxie was concerned with the way Matt monitored Liz. Maxie's jealousy deepened although both Matt and Liz insisted they shared no feelings beyond friendship. Liz was suspended from the hospital after Maxie reported to Monica Quartermaine that Liz had stolen drugs from the hospital months earlier. Both Liz and Matt knew that Maxie was behind the suspension and it drove Matt and Liz closer.

During the suspension, Liz was invited to attend a gala at the Metro Court with Ewen but he did not show. Liz and Matt ended up spending time together at the event. Maxie found Matt and Liz together and made accusations against Liz but Matt stood up to Maxie and defended Liz. Later, Matt convinced Maxie to retract her statement to Monica and Liz was reinstated.

The tension between Maxie and Liz was set aside when Robin was presumed dead after being involved in an explosion inside the hospital lab. Both women were devastated by the loss of their close friend and Liz stepped in to help Patrick plan the funeral. Liz also assisted Patrick with caring for his daughter Emma while he was overcome with grief. She also reached out to Robin's mother Anna Devane and the women commiserated over what it was like to lose a child. Robin's funeral coincided with the one year anniversary of Jake's death and Liz decided to make peace with Luke after he informed her that he started a memorial fund in Jake's honor.

Liz continued to talk with Ewen about her grief over Jake and her relationship with Lucky. He encouraged her to let go of the guilt she felt whenever she enjoyed life and the pair went on a date. Their date was interrupted by a patient of Ewen's but Liz hoped to go out with him again. Any plans for a second date were set aside when Liz found Ewen unconscious on the floor of his office. A patient of Ewen's had knocked him out and he required brain surgery. Liz convinced Patrick to operate on Ewen and she was thrilled when Ewen asked for her when he woke up.

While Ewen recovered, Jason and Sam hit a rough patch in their marriage. Jason started confiding in Liz, much to Sam's dismay. Sam and Jason learned the child Sam was carrying was not fathered by Jason but by his twin brother, Franco, after Franco had raped Sam on their honeymoon. Jason was unable to accept Franco's child and a rift formed between them. Sam turned to John McBain while Jason leaned on Liz. Jason and Sam's marriage deteriorated even further after Sam's baby died shortly after his birth.

Liz and Jason grew closer while Jason and Sam drifted apart. Jason and Liz shared a kiss but she chose to pursue a relationship with Ewen instead even after Jason and Sam announced their decision to divorce. Liz remained drawn to Jason but she resented his suspicions that Ewen was somehow involved in a mysterious illness that infected both Josslyn Jacks and Alexis Davis. They had each been hospitalized after they received an injection and Jason believed they had been injected at Wyndemere, the place where Ewen had briefly resided.

Liz dismissed Jason's suspicions and insisted that Ewen was a good man. She realized Jason was correct about Ewen after she and Ewen watched Jerry Jacks announcement that he had poisoned the town's water supply with a deadly toxin. As Jerry spoke, Ewen reacted in shock and revealed that he had worked with Jerry but he had not been aware of what Jerry had in store for Port Charles. Liz confronted Ewen about his association with Jerry but he tried to cover up what he had said. Their conversation was interrupted by Patrick and Ewen realized that he could no longer hide his connection to Jerry.

Ewen clobbered Patrick over the head and rendered him unconscious. Ewen then kidnapped Liz and took her to his farmhouse residence outside of the city. While they were there, they both began to show signs of a fever caused by the toxin. Ewen insisted that he would be the one to save Liz, not Jason, since he was in love with her. Liz pressed Ewen for more information about his connection to Jerry and he shared that his family had been happy and successful until Jerry's father stole a set of cards called the Dead Man's Hand from Ewen's father. Without the cards, Ewen's family lost their home and his father lost the will to live. Ewen sought revenge by killing Jerry's father.

Liz was horrified by Ewen's confession and wondered what he planned to do with the gun he had in his hands. Ewen reassured Liz that he would never hurt her and that he planned to use the gun to force Jerry to release the counteragent to him so that Liz would be saved. Instead, Liz became Ewen's human shield when Jason entered the farmhouse. Ewen fired a shot into Jason's leg and he responded by placing a bullet into Ewen's chest.

Both Ewen and Jason were taken to the hospital but Ewen did not survive. Liz thanked Jason for saving her from Ewen and admitted that she had always sensed that something was off with him but she had chosen to ignore it. Liz turned to Jason after Ewen's death while Jason tried to reunite Sam with her presumed deceased son. Liz feared that Sam and Jason would reconcile when Jason brought Sam's child home and she tried to keep Jason and Sam apart. She allowed Sam to believe that she and Jason were romantically involved and she switched the DNA results for Sam's child.

Liz's interference in Jason's relationship with Sam worked but Liz was unable to live with the guilt. She came clean to Jason and he planned to move forward with Sam and her son. Jason was shot and killed the day he took Sam and her son home to live with him. Liz was saddened by Jason's death and regretted the time Jason and Sam had lost together because of her.

After Jason's death, Liz focused her attention on the resurrection of the Nurse's Ball. She also befriended A.J. Quartermaine after he was revealed to be alive. Liz agreed to be A.J.'s date to the Nurse's Ball. Afterwards, Nikolas returned to town and required surgery after he was shot. Liz tended to Nikolas and A.J. accused her of falling back into bed with her former lover. Liz was offended by the accusation and ended her relationship with A.J. Afterwards, Nikolas declared his feelings for her and they kissed. Following the kiss, Liz explained that she wanted to explore what she could have with A.J. instead of going back to a relationship that had caused Lucky so much pain.
