Tracy, the bratty, spoiled daughter of Edward and Lila Quartermaine, blew into town in 1978 and fell in love with Assistant District Attorney Mitch Williams, who was corrupt and involved with the mob. Mitch, however, was also seeing Susan Moore.
In 1979, Tracy learned that her sister-in-law, Monica Quartermaine, was pregnant. Tracy assumed correctly that this child, the first male heir of her brother, Alan, would inherit the Quartermaine fortune. Tracy wanted her son, Ned Ashton, who was away at boarding school, to inherit the money. The only way to keep Ned as the heir was to prove that the baby wasn't the son of Alan but of someone else. At the same time, Tracy discovered that her father, Edward, wouldn't give her any money at all unless she was married.
Tracy lured Mitch into a wedding, because Mitch found the Quartermaine fortune enticing. Mitch, however, continued his affair with Susan. Mitch also started his campaign for state senate, but with Tracy supplying the money, he had to give in to her demand to crack down on organized crime. This was hard for Mitch, who was involved with the mob. Soon, however, Tracy discovered Mitch in bed with Susan, which caused the marriage to crumble.
This allowed Tracy more time to prove that Monica's baby wasn't Alan's child. Tracy had a feeling that the unborn baby was the son of Rick Webber, a man with whom Monica was very close. But Tracy didn't know for sure if Monica and Rick had ever had an affair. Then, Monica and Rick had to give a deposition at a hospital hearing where they had to reveal that they'd had an affair. Tracy didn't know about the confessions but saw the difference in the way the two reacted to each other after the hearing. Tracy felt that she had to get her hands on the deposition report, hoping something would be revealed. The papers, however, were court-sealed.
In 1980, Tracy learned that Alan had read the deposition and knew the truth that Monica and Rick had been involved in an affair. Monica also blurted out during the birth of baby Alan Quartermaine Junior that Rick was the baby's father. It didn't help that the person delivering the baby was Rick's wife, Lesley Webber. Port Charles had learned that the baby could be Rick's. That wasn't good enough for Tracy, who still feared that Alan could be A.J.'s father. She filed a paternity suit against Monica, hoping that Rick would be named the baby's father.
Edward wanted A.J. as his own heir, and was furious at Tracy's recklessness. Edward drew up a new will disinheriting his daughter. As Edward began to sign the will, however, he fell to the floor with a heart attack. He begged Tracy to give him his medicine, but Tracy refused, hoping that he'd die without ever signing the new will. Edward became lifeless, and Tracy thought he was dead. Suddenly, Edward jumped up and signed the will. It had been a test to prove Tracy's loyalty, and she had failed. Later, Edward gave in and gave Tracy two million dollars, which could only be spent on Mitch's race for the senate. Knowing that she needed Mitch in order to keep the money, Tracy again lured Mitch away from Susan Moore, and the two moved to Albany.
In 1989, Tracy returned to Port Charles, single and dating Nicholes Van Buren, a.k.a. Domino, who was a criminal who was seeking the Dragon Bone, a key to a long-lost Chinese civilization. Tracy also wanted a piece of the profit, so she blackmailed her first husband, Lord Larry Ashton, who was also after the Bone. Tracy revealed to Larry that she knew he wasn't the real Ashton heir and that she would expose him unless he gave her and son Ned a share of the profits from the quest. Eventually, the quest ended after Robert Scorpio's dog, Friday, buried the Dragon Bone. Tracy then got involved with David McAlister, who wound up murdered with Tracy as the prime suspect. She hired Scotty Baldwin to defend her. Almost as greedy as Tracy, Scotty agreed to help her only if she got him the position as General Counsel at ELQ. As a backup, Scotty also collaborated with Alan to help him oust Ned from ELQ.
In 1990, Tracy discovered that Ned was engaged to Dawn Winthrop, a student nurse who was also Monica Quartermaine's illegitimate daughter. Tracy was bent on breaking them up and enlisted young con artist Decker Moss to help her. Dawn loved Ned but was secretly infatuated with Decker. On Dawn and Ned's wedding day, the truth came out that Ned and Monica had been involved in an affair a few years before, and Dawn was crushed. She ran away from town with Decker. Later that year, Tracy wanted to break up the marriage of Lucy Coe and Alan. Tracy hated Lucy and saw her as a gold digger who threatened to take away Quartermaine money. Tracy joined forces with Scotty Baldwin to destroy the union, but the two got sidetracked when they fell into bed together.
In 1991, the Quartermaine boat, the SS Tracy, exploded in the harbor while carrying unsafe chemicals. Harlan Barrett arrived in town to salvage the sunken chemicals and became very taken with Tracy, who had just ended her relationship with Scotty. Harlan, though, loved Tracy's money more than Tracy herself. With the help of Leopold Taub, Cesar Faison, and Larry Ashton, the four formed a cartel bent on controlling global business, using a chemical called carbon disulfide. To achieve their goal however, the cartel needed to take control of ELQ, the Quartermaine business. The cartel ordered Paul Hornsby to get control of Tracy's stock by marrying her. Paul had also recently become CEO of ELQ and would cause its downfall with Tracy's stock. Paul, however, didn't love Tracy; he loved Jenny Eckert. The cartel threatened the life of Paul's daughter, Susan, so Paul complied and married Tracy.
In 1992, Tracy began to see that Paul really loved Jenny. However, Tracy refused to give him a divorce, especially after learning about his involvement with the cartel and his true motivations behind marrying her. Determined to hang on to Paul, Tracy announced at Ned and Jenny's engagement party that she was pregnant. Shocked, Jenny married Ned. Tracy and Paul bonded during her pregnancy. Baby Dillon was born premature but healthy, and Ned and Jenny were named his godparents.
Tracy and Paul's marriage grew shakier. Tracy hired Marco Dane to dig up some dirt on Jenny. Marco discovered that she'd had a miscarriage when she was 16 with the baby of Senator Jack Kensington. Tracy used this information to keep Jenny away from Paul, but soon Ned and Paul learned the truth. Ned divorced Jenny, and Paul left Tracy, a move that was allowed, since the cartel had been broken up. Tracy sought her revenge by trying to frame Paul for embezzling money from ELQ. Ned also sought revenge by blackmailing Paul into handing over his shares of ELQ.
In 1993, Tracy accidentally hit Jenny with her car. Tracy thought that Jenny was dead and fled the scene after phoning the police to report a hit-and-run. Jenny didn't die, though, and told the police that she didn't know who had hit her. However, she did know it was Tracy and told her to leave Paul alone and give him a divorce or else Jenny would tell the police. Edward learned the truth of Tracy's hit-and-run and kicked her out of the house. Tracy divorced Paul and left Port Charles with baby Dillon in tow.
Tracy again returned to Port Charles in 1996 for revenge. She was tired of being treated like an outcast by her own family and planned to orchestrate a hostile takeover of ELQ with the help of Jax. The takeover attempt failed, and she was again banished from the family. Before Tracy left town, though, she managed to break up the marriage of Ned and his new wife Lois. Tracy hated Lois from first sight and felt that Lois wasn't good enough for her son. Lois was pregnant and learned of Tracy hitting Jenny; Lois felt that Tracy was evil. She was starting to believe that all Quartermaines were evil. Lois didn't want her daughter, Brook Lynn, to grow up like Tracy, so she divorced Ned and left right after Tracy did.
(1996-1997: Tracy crossed over to The City) Tracy arrived in SoHo with the intention of blackmailing her old acquaintance, Sydney Chase, over the golden pipes that were supposedly stashed in a building at 212 Greene Street. Sydney was moving to London, and gave Tracy 51 percent of the building. Tracy and Dillon briefly lived in the building's penthouse. What they didn't know was that there was twelve million dollars in back taxes due on the building. Tracy decided she needed to marry somebody rich, and set her sights on Gino Soleito. He wooed her and finally proposed marriage. She accepted, but his daughter Carla hated Tracy. Carla thought Tracy was just a gold digger. Gino and Tracy married, and Gino couldn't wait to consummate their marriage.
On the wedding night, Tracy faked getting the measles so she was safe for one night. She knew, however, that measles wouldn't last forever. She hired a prostitute to pretend to be her during a romantic night with Gino. It worked, but there was one problem: Gino died in bed. Tracy hid the body in the basement. One of Gino's many homes was later broken into. Tracy headed to the house to see if she could find what it was that the would-be robbers wanted, and she did. Armed with the pertinent papers, Tracy became the new Godmother of the Soleito crime family. In 1997, Tracy was hard up for cash and hired robbers to dress up as pilgrims and rob the Quartermaines on Thanksgiving. The robbery wasn't successful, and Tracy wasn't heard from for a while.
(Back on General Hospital)
In 2003, Reginald, the Quartermaines' butler, opened the door of the mansion to find Tracy. Her appearance was a shock for the Quartermaines. Edward told Tracy that she was still the black sheep of the family and that she was not welcome. However, Tracy dismissed his lecture. After insulting everyone in the room and introducing her son Dillon, she asked Lila if they could stay. Lila reluctantly agreed, but made Tracy promise to be on her best behavior. However, Tracy had an agenda.
When Tracy was alone with Skye, Tracy revealed that Skye wasn't a true Quartermaine. Tracy told Skye that if she didn't cough up five million dollars, Tracy would reveal that Skye wasn't Alan's daughter. Skye enlisted Jax's help in trying to get Tracy to provide proof of the accusation. However, the real proof arrived in the form of Skye's mother, Rae Cummings, who confirmed Tracy's allegations. A smug Tracy demanded her hush money, but Skye turned the tables by telling the family she wasn't a Quartermaine. Tracy was further appalled when her mother told her to pack up and leave. Tracy told Dillon that she was leaving him with the Quartermaine family because she had to attend to business, but promised that she'd be back to get him soon.
In Summer 2003, Dillon was arrested for stealing A.J.'s car and running over parking meters. Tracy returned to Port Charles to bail him out but refused to take him back to Europe with her. Tracy felt bad about leaving him with the family, but she promised to send for Dillon while she was in Manhattan. Dillon tried to make her follow through with her promise, but true to form, Tracy made up yet another excuse for not having Dillon go to see her. She finally returned after Dillon got into trouble with his grandfather to the point that Edward threatened to ship him off to military school.
Actually, Tracy had returned with the intent of getting her hands on the "Dead Man's Hand," including the legendary fifth card -- the jack of diamonds -- in Wild Bill Hickock's hand at the time of his murder. Before Tracy returned, she had Dillon steal the cards from A.J. and hide them. She was quite peeved to learn that the cards had been taken from Dillon but when she learned that Jax had access to them through Sam, Tracy threw in with Jax to screw over Sam, get the cards, and open a casino. Her plans were thwarted once again when she learned that the only gambling license Port Charles would ever have belonged to Luke Spencer. Never one to stand still for long, Tracy tried to convince Jax to take over ELQ and install her as CEO. However, Jax turned her down.
Tracy was not thrilled to learn that Dillon was dating Georgie Jones. Tracy repeatedly tried to get Georgie away from Dillon and even threatened to send him to military school if he didn't stop seeing Georgie. When newcomer Sage Alcazar showed an interest in breaking up Georgie and Dillon, Tracy did everything she could to throw Sage and Dillon together. But Georgie wanted Dillon away from Sage and her mobster uncle. She was so desperate to achieve this that she made a deal with Tracy: she would stop seeing Dillon, and Tracy would keep Dillon from working for Alcazar as Sage's bodyguard. Unaware of the deal, Dillon was heartbroken when Georgie broke up with him. He rebounded with Sage, and Tracy tricked Georgie into finding Dillon and Sage together. Georgie was heartbroken, and Dillon was furious with his mother and with himself for giving in to Sage.
Tracy was as shocked as the rest of the family when A.J. called from an unknown location to announce that he'd robbed the family of its fortune. Tracy smelled an opportunity to get rich when she overheard Jax talking to a sailor on the docks about a sunken ship in the harbor that may have carried treasure. Tracy informed her family that the ship, known as the Courage, belonged to the Quartermaines at the time, which meant the treasure belonged to them. However, Nikolas Cassadines' new freighter had sunk on the same spot as the Courage, and he claimed part of the treasure belonged to the Cassadines.
When Nikolas proposed an even split of any treasure found, Tracy quickly agreed. Then she hired Sam to recover the treasure before Nikolas could. Sam's father managed to recover it first, but Sam stole it and took off with Sonny Corinthos in his plane. They were forced to land on a tropical island, where a storm ensued and Helena Cassadine stole the treasure. Nikolas and Emily managed to get the treasure back and declared that an auction would be held to sell the treasure, and the profits would be split equally between their families.
Tracy hired Coleman to steal the treasure during the auction, but Nikolas caught him before he got the chance. Later, Luke stole it right from under its display case but then Sam stole it from him. A fire broke out in the hotel while the auction attendees were being detained for questioning. When Edward wanted to take responsibility for not fixing the faulty hotel wiring, Tracy fought against him and tried to convince him it would be better for ELQ if he kept quiet. While Edward recovered from a heart attack that nearly killed him, Justus convinced Edward that he should act senile to avoid responsibility for the fire. Tracy took advantage of the situation and went after ELQ. She even tried to have Edward committed, insisting that it was a necessary step in the senility ruse. Skye and Luke hid Edward at Skye's house.
Ned and Tracy partnered up to gain control of ELQ when Ned revealed that the arson report relieved the family of responsibility for the fire. Luke and Skye stole the report, and control of ELQ had to be put to a vote. The whole family was shocked to learn that Tracy had used her recent powers to give A.J.'s vote to Dillon. When the vote tied among the other family members, the deciding vote went to Dillon. Tracy pressed hard for Dillon to vote for her as Edward tried to bribe his grandson to vote for him, so Tracy played hardball. She had Sage take nude pictures of Georgie and then made it look like Georgie was selling them on the Internet from the computer at the hospital. When Dillon found out, Tracy blackmailed him into voting for her in order to protect Georgie. Reluctantly, Dillon complied.
Having won the CEO position at ELQ, Tracy turned her attention to tormenting Skye. When Sage revealed to the family that Tracy had blackmailed Dillon, Skye protested, claiming that it was against the bylaws and that with enough evidence, they could get Tracy ousted. When she went to Skye's lake house one night, Tracy saw Luke through the window, dragging a dead body across the floor in an attempt to hide it. Skye, in turn, saw Tracy peaking through the window. Luke and Skye hid the body in the Quartermaines' freezer, and Tracy managed to get a picture of Skye with the corpse. She then showed the picture to Jax and blackmailed him into partnering with her, in the boardroom and the bedroom, in order to keep Skye out of trouble. Jax reluctantly agreed. However, Jax broke his part of the "deal" when he learned that Courtney Matthews was pregnant, possibly with his child. Consequently, Tracy turned the photos of Skye with the deceased officer in to the police, testified against her at the trial, and took part in sending her to prison. The Quartermaines were not pleased.
The following month, the family grieved upon finding out that their matriarch, Lila, Tracy's mother, had died in her sleep. Tracy lashed out during this difficult time, and on the day of the funeral, found comfort in her brother's arms. Soon, Lila's will was read: the estate would be given to the Quatermaine family member who could be most virtuous for the following month. This proved to a difficult task for the mischievous Tracy Quartermaine, who was initially eliminated for blackmailing the woman appointed by the will to make the decision, Felicia Jones. Felicia's daughter, Georgie, had locked Sage Alcazar in a freezer the same night a murderer had been loose on the Quartermaine property. Sage was stabbed, and Tracy heard Georgie blame herself. If Felicia voted Tracy as the most virtuous, Tracy would keep her mouth shut. Felicia knew her daughter was innocent and refused.
Later in the competition, Felicia made the decision to reinstate everyone. Unfortunately for Tracy, she was eliminated again for teaming up with Helena Cassadine to stop Nikolas and Emily's marriage. Tracy and Helena also attempted to get Emily out of the running for the inheritance by bribing a nurse to state that Emily had been involved in the death of Mary Bishop. Soon after, Tracy discovered that Helena was homicidal and was out to kill Emily with a curse she put on Emily. Risking her life, Tracy double-crossed Helena, stole the Book of Curses, and gave it to Nikolas and Emily. Not long afterward, Helena was presumed to be dead when Nikolas literally pushed her off a cliff. Tracy did not have to worry about Helena going after her any longer.
Meanwhile, Heather Webber had been in town and had turned her attention to the grieving Edward Quartermaine. She had a plan to lure him to the altar, murder him, collect his life savings, and then run off with Luke Spencer. Tracy was not fond of her father's relationship with Heather and tried to put a stop to it. The rest of the Quartermaines sided with her, and eventually, Edward himself realized what was going on. As a result, he, Tracy, Luke, and Skye formed an alliance, and in the end, Heather was carted off first to jail and then a mental institution.
The following month, January, 2005, it was revealed that Helena Cassadine was actually alive and that Tracy was working with her. As it turned out, Helena was filling ELQ's accounts with large amounts of cash in exchange for information on Nikolas and Emily. Dillon found out and was very disappointed. He shared the information with Luke and Skye, who were trying to catch Helena. Tracy agreed to help them, but all of them together were no match for Helena, and she escaped after shooting Luke's son, Lucky, who took the bullet for Emily.
In February, the Quartermaines experienced another loss. A.J. Quartermaine had been found murdered in his hotel room. His ex-wife, Courtney Matthews, was the prime suspect, and Tracy wanted justice to be served. The day of A.J.'s memorial, Tracy was there for Alan, who regretted not being a better father to A.J. The next month was even worse for Alan, when he found out that his grandson, Michael, had also been "murdered." He started drinking a lot, and Tracy noticed. When her inebriated brother crashed his car and sent a pregnant Alexis Davis to the hospital, Tracy covered for him. She later blackmailed her son, Dillon, into keeping quiet about it. Emily found out and unleashed her rage on Tracy.
In the month of April 2005, the family learned the good news that A.J. was indeed alive. Nonetheless, after an injury at the Quartermaine mansion, A.J. ended up in the hospital, where he was suffocated by a pillow. Tracy was interested in A.J.'s money. One night, while trying to track down A.J.'s funds, Luke Spencer arrived with a drink. Thankful, Tracy took it, not realizing it had been drugged. She woke up, bound and gagged, on the Haunted Star. Luke explained to her that he wanted to know Helena Cassadine's whereabouts. He figured that Tracy, having worked with Helena in the past, might have a good idea. Tracy had no idea, though, and later discovered that Luke had transferred Cassadine money into her account. In other words, Helena would notice the cash, 15 million dollars, was missing and would emerge from hiding.
Sure enough, it was a success. Unfortunately for Tracy, Helena showed up at her house with a gun, demanding to know why Tracy had stolen so much. Helena had to flee when she heard Edward and Justus entering the room, but that didn't stop her from threatening Tracy. Helena showed up again -- this time at the Haunted Star, where she shot Luke in the chest and told Tracy she was next. Terrified, Tracy grabbed the gun from Helena, who left the scene. Tracy was surprised to see Luke pop up. He had been wearing a Kevlar vest. He decided that Tracy needed a bodyguard and insisted he was the perfect man for the job. Tracy initially refused, but the fear that Helena could be stalking her caused her to reconsider. Then, she, Luke, Skye, Elizabeth, and Lucky joined forces to capture Helena once and for all. They were successful, and Helena was carted off to prison.
There was just one problem. Helena was unable to reclaim the 15 million dollars that Luke had transferred into Tracy's accounts. Tracy decided to keep it, but this was completely unacceptable to Luke, who wanted the cash for himself. He, of course, had a plan. In May, Luke enlisted Dillon and Georgie's help and set his plan into action. Tracy received a phone call from Dillon, in which he lied and told her that he and Georgie had eloped. Tracy took a flight to Las Vegas to put a stop to it, but she was "too late."
Tracy decided to drown her sorrows in a nearby bar, where Luke joined her. The next morning, Tracy woke up in a tacky hotel room, in Luke's shirt, with a shiny diamond ring on her finger. Unbeknownst to her at the time, she had drunkenly agreed to marry Luke Spencer. She was horrified, especially when Luke assured her that they had consummated the marriage, thus making an annulment impossible. Tracy asked what Luke wanted. His response was "alimony." He would gladly divorce Tracy if she gave him 15 million dollars in the settlement. Tracy refused.
The next couple of months resulted in a full battle of one-upmanship, as Tracy and Luke took turns trying to get out of a marriage that neither of them wanted to be in. Tracy tried to prove that Luke was committing adultery with Skye. Luke went as far as putting the owner of Jake's bar, Coleman, in bed with Tracy, and took photos. Tracy believed she was sleeping with Luke and didn't realize what had happened until the next morning. Luke insisted that the photos proved adultery and that he would be able to get the cash.
Tracy turned the tables on Luke when she decided to pursue a relationship with Coleman. Luke was jealous and decided not to divorce her. Meanwhile, Coleman and Skye spent some time together. Tracy and Luke caught them, and later, when Coleman had some harsh words to say about Tracy, she kicked him out. Luke finally decided he was tired of the games and agreed to a divorce, but Tracy, angry about Skye and Coleman, wasn't going to give him one or the 15 million. The game was back on.
Afterwards, in June, 2005, Luke agreed to help Tracy maintain her position as CEO of ELQ. For three months, which would be long enough to solidify the position, he would also have to act as a real husband, and then she'd give him the divorce and the alimony. Luke, indeed, acted as a real husband, as he comforted Tracy when she was forced to give up Lila's former position as director of the GH Charitable Endowment. Skye saw that Luke really wasn't acting, and that he and Tracy did have a growing bond. However, this didn't last long. When it was time to vote for the new CEO of ELQ, Luke didn't support his wife, and she lost out to Lorenzo Alcazar. Luke broke his end of the deal, and Tracy wanted Luke to be miserable, so she assured him they'd be married for a long, long time. At that time, Luke took off on a mission for Lorenzo.
With Luke gone for the summer, Tracy did not have much to do. One afternoon, Lorenzo summoned Tracy to his house to share his plans for ELQ. She found out that he was going to use her family's company to front his illegal activities. Tracy forbade him from doing so, but when Lorenzo indirectly threatened to make her disappear, she agreed to his plans. She went to Europe and was not seen again until October. While searching for her husband, Tracy had been kidnapped. Luke refused to pay the ransom and said he'd still get the alimony if she died.
Skye was appalled and requested that Lorenzo put up the cash. It didn't matter in the end, though, because Tracy irritated her kidnapper so much that he let her go. In November, tragedy hit Port Charles, when two trains collided. Lucky, was onboard, and Luke went to rescue him. Tracy was fearful but was relieved when Luke emerged from the tunnel. In December, Tracy revealed to Jax that she had no intentions of divorcing Luke. Lulu, Luke's daughter, who had moved in with the Quartermaines the month before, overheard and spilled the information to her dad. Luke thought it interesting, but was still not over Skye.
In January 2006, Tracy found out that Luke was very, very short on money and that he was dependent on Tracy's wealth. Glad to have the upper hand, Tracy imposed some rules. Luke, Skye, Dillon, Georgie, Lulu, and Alice teamed up against Tracy. As part of the plan, Luke pretended that he wanted to kill Tracy. His goal was to scare her, so that she'd divorce him and therefore, give him the 15 million. His plan backfired, though, when Tracy's car went off the road and into a lake. Luke dove in to try to save her, but she was nowhere to be found.
Police Commissioner Mac Scorpio suspected that Tracy was dead. Dillon was devastated. Luke, desperate to avoid murder charges, left town. As it turned out, Tracy was indeed alive. She'd been en route to the police station, when a truck came out of nowhere, and she had been forced to swerve out of the way. Deciding to take advantage of the situation, Tracy had used it to fake her death and give them all a scare.
February was another month of disaster. Luke had been in the Markham Islands, and when he returned to Port Charles, he unintentionally took a virus with him. Tracy was very concerned when he fell ill and ended up in the hospital. Later, her son, Dillon, developed with the same illness, but she refused to believe he was going to die. Dillon wasn't as sure, though, and wanted to marry Georgie Jones. Eventually, Tracy agreed, and the two were married in the hospital chapel. Afterwards, Dillon took a turn for the worse, and Tracy returned to the chapel, this time to pray. She promised God she would be a better person if God let Dillon live. Luke overheard, and when Tracy got her miracle, Luke decided to serve as her Jiminy Cricket. It was evident that they were growing closer.
Tracy's kindness did not last long, as she intended on destroying her son's marriage. Luke reminded her of her promise, and in light of Dillon and Georgie's young love, Luke and Tracy had their own conversation about young love. Both of them wondered what it would have been like if they had met when they were teenagers. Luke imagined whisking Tracy away and getting her out of that house. He told her he could still do that and make her happier than she's ever been. Massaging her shoulders, he moved even closer to kiss her, but Dillon and Georgie interrupted. Days later, Luke and Tracy were again on shaky ground when they learned that Skye was pregnant with Lorenzo Alcazar's child. Luke needed to distract himself and went to work on reconstructing the Haunted Star casino. He decided to make Tracy his partner. Initially disgusted with the idea of having to play hostess, Tracy ended up enjoying herself a lot more than she thought she would.
In April 2006, Luke surprised Tracy by throwing her a birthday party, complete with a cake and gifts. Having not expected anything like that, Tracy was grateful. Later in the month, Luke asked her to renew her vows. Tracy was confused, unaware that Luke was back to making Skye jealous. She ended up agreeing, though, since his old pal Robert Scorpio had just returned to Port Charles to extradite Luke to the Markham Islands. That night, the two planned to remarry in the Quartermaine mansion, but suddenly, Luke received a phone call. It was Holly Scorpio, a former flame of his, who was in trouble. Luke opted to rescue her and leave Tracy at the altar.
Tracy pretended not to be bothered, but Lulu and Dillon knew that she was hurt. Meanwhile, Robert wanted to track down Luke to extradite him. Alice, Lulu, and Dillon locked Robert in the Quartermaine freezer but he freed himself until Tracy knocked him out. Robert persuaded her to let him go but, when she tried, Alice, Lulu, and Dillon tied her up, gagged her, and locked her in the freezer with Robert. In time, the two freed themselves, and Robert went to search for Luke. Tracy also left to find him.
Weeks later, Tracy found Anna Devane, Luke, Robert, and Holly on the Markham Islands. She helped them out of a jam and arranged for all of them to get home safely. In return, she wanted her husband to honor their vows, but Luke was much more interested in Holly Scorpio. In fact, he drugged Robert and Tracy, so that the two would end up in the same bed together. Luke took a photo to get their attention, and Tracy was furious, especially since it was their anniversary.
During the argument, Holly ran off with the jewels the group had acquired in the Markham Islands. However, it was part of Luke's plan. Earlier that evening, Luke had switched the real jewelry with Tracy's jewelry. Holly, therefore, ran off with the wrong jewels, and the good ones were left for Luke, Robert, and Tracy. Luke and Tracy celebrated with a kiss. Unfortunately, bounty hunters from the area arrived to take the jewels.
Soon, Tracy, Luke, and Robert arrived home. Tracy froze all of Luke's assets, including the Haunted Star and made Robert the new manager. Luke could not stand this and arranged for the casino to be robbed. Tracy found out, got an injunction, and demanded that Luke return the cash he had stolen. The matter was dropped, however, when the Quartermaines were forced to deal with another family death: Justus'. After his memorial, Tracy listened as Luke talked about the life he had with Laura. When Luke got up to leave, Tracy kissed him on the cheek. Luke, in turn, kissed her on the lips, before leaving for the summer. Tracy was confused.
In the next couple of months, Tracy took on the responsibility of Lulu's guardian. She was not pleased to learn that her son Dillon was sleeping with her stepdaughter and banned them from ever doing it again. Tracy and Robert advised Dillon and Lulu, respectively, but that didn't stop them. Tracy didn't understand why Dillon was doing this, since he was so devoted to Georgie, his wife. Dillon explained that Georgie had been sleeping with Diego Alcazar. Tracy didn't believe it and later found out that it was a lie Lulu had told to Dillon to get him into bed.
The next month, Tracy continued to serve as a surrogate mother to Lulu and helped plan a surprise birthday party for her. When Lulu discovered she was pregnant with Dillon's child and was considering abortion, Tracy shared her own experience of abortion with Lulu. Luke returned to town briefly and was thankful that Tracy had been there for his daughter. Against Tracy's advice, Lulu did abort her pregnancy, but Tracy was supportive nonetheless.
In the fall, the Quartermaines acknowledged that ELQ had been manufacturing defective condoms, and prepared to face a scandal. Tracy was ELQ's CEO at the time and accepted the responsibility.
Soon thereafter, Luke authorized Robin to use an experimental drug to draw Laura out of her coma. Tracy threatened to tell Laura about her marriage to Luke, but he convinced her not to. On November 20, Tracy filed for a divorce so that Luke could be with the only true love of his life. Luke, however, told Tracy that, while he'd always love Laura, Tracy had become the only woman for him. Later, when Luke and his "angel" Laura decided to renew their marriage vows, Tracy was devastated, despite his assurances that it had been Laura's idea. He reiterated, that he was content in his marriage to Tracy.
It was revealed that Tracy had been interested in Luke for decades. Luke told her that he wished he had known. Tracy was still hurt, though, with Luke's dedication and affection towards Laura. Her pain only worsened when she found out the ceremony was going to take place in her own backyard, but again Luke told Tracy that it was Laura's idea. That same day, Luke surprised Tracy when, after 18 months of marriage, he told her that he loved her. Tracy, however, was still upset and turned to alcohol. When she got up to object during the ceremony, Monica tripped Tracy, and Alice carried her away. Tracy spent the reception, tied and gagged, in a closet.
In the meantime, Luke doted on Laura, while sharing the truth with Tracy alone. It was revealed that Laura's condition was only temporary and that she would slip back into her catatonic state. Luke was set on making Laura's final days perfect. Just before Thanksgiving, the Spencers decided to give Laura a special Christmas, since she wouldn't be there for the real one. Luke chopped down a tree from Tracy's yard, which angered her. He proceeded to lash out at her but apologized moments later. That evening, Tracy confessed to Dillon that she would never be able to win Luke's heart away from Laura. Later, Edward reminded her that she deserved better than Luke. Tracy was thankful for his support. On Thanksgiving Day, Laura slipped away, and Luke couldn't deal with the loss. Tracy encouraged her husband to be there for Lulu, but he ended up leaving town.
In January of 2007, with Luke still missing, Tracy discovered that Lulu, Dillon, and Spinelli were up to something and wanted to know what it was. Lulu wouldn't reveal the details, but Tracy knew it had to do with Laura. She was supportive of Lulu, who developed a new respect for Tracy. Tracy occupied herself with ELQ after Edward hired Sam, which was completely unacceptable to Tracy. She blackmailed Sam into quitting. Later that month, Luke returned and told Tracy that he would remain Tracy's husband for as long as she wished to remain his wife.
In February, the Metro Court Hotel became the scene of a hostage crisis. Tracy's brother Alan was in the hotel at the time and had a heart attack, collapsing outside the building. Luke, wanting to participate in the rescue efforts, helped lead Alan to safety. Tracy was very grateful for Luke saving her "big brother." At General Hospital, Alan lay unconscious, as Tracy begged him to wake up. He did, but it was short-lived. Alan died that night. Tracy told Dillon that she was afraid to live without Alan.
Meanwhile, Tracy still was curious about what was going on with Lulu, Spinelli, and Dillon. She found out that the three of them had learned who had killed Rick Webber years before -- previously, everyone had believed it was Laura, however, just before she went back into a catatonic state, Laura asked Lulu to prove it was Scott who had killed Rick -- but Tracy still was not aware of that detail. Luke was preoccupied with Lulu, since Scott was back in town. He didn't support Tracy as much as he should have immediately following Alan's death. Tracy understood, though, and, on the day of Alan's actual memorial, Luke was there to comfort her.
Later on, the two of them teamed up to get Alan's will and change it. Soon, Tracy was in for the shock of a lifetime when Alan started haunting her. He manifested himself as her guilty conscience, and she couldn't get Alan out of her mind. Luke noticed and was worried that Tracy was going to break and tell the truth about the will. Tracy wasn't being as careful as she should have been. Several times she had conversations with her deceased brother in the presence of others. The family eventually found out about the will.
In the meantime, Scott Baldwin was trying to get guardianship of Laura and made a deal with Tracy, but she was just working him. When Luke found out, however, he wasn't positive Tracy was just scamming Scott. Luke warned Tracy that if he didn't get guardianship of Laura, he would end his marriage to Tracy, but he later apologized. Tracy admitted to Luke that she truly loved him. She then lashed out, telling her husband that she was tired of waiting for him to accept that Laura was gone. That evening, Luke found her drinking at the Metro Court, and the two of them reached an appreciation of their unique relationship.
Tracy wanted to help Luke get guardianship of Laura. The ghost of Alan tried to stop her because he didn't understand his sister's relationship with a man who would always love another woman. Tracy tried to ignore Alan and continued helping her husband. Luke and Tracy became more affectionate than ever during that time. Soon, the date of the trial arrived. The fact that Luke had raped Laura decades before came out during the proceedings. The judge awarded custody of Laura to Scott. Tracy knew what lay ahead -- Luke would take Laura and leave town. Luke assured Tracy that he would always return to her. She helped Luke kidnap Laura and leave Port Charles. Once Scott found out, he had Tracy arrested. Lulu bailed Tracy out of jail. Tracy soon realized that Lulu was the one person she could count on.
Meanwhile, Tracy continued to see and hear Alan, who warned her that their father was up to something. Tracy didn't do a good job of hiding her conversations with her brother, and Edward decided to bring in Dr. Lainey Winters to observe his daughter. If he could get Tracy committed to Shadybrook, he could get control of ELQ. Lainey witnessed Tracy talking to Alan's chair. Not much later, two men in white coats showed up with a straitjacket and whisked Tracy away. Lainey tried to get Tracy to admit that she had a problem, but Tracy wouldn't budge. Alan tried getting her to confess the truth about the will, but Tracy refused.
While in Shadybrook, Tracy had several visitors. Scott Baldwin was one of them, and he believed that Tracy was pretending to be nuts to avoid kidnapping charges. Unbeknownst to Scott, Tracy had hired a private investigator to find some information on Scott's past. She found out that Scott had a son, Logan Hayes, and planned on using that information to blackmail him into dropping the charges. When she presented the information, Scott insisted that he did not have a son.
Another visitor was Dillon. He came to her with the news that he had been offered a job in the film industry. Ned, Tracy's oldest son, had offered the job to him, and it would require Dillon to move. Tracy didn't want that, but in the end, she didn't have a choice. Before Dillon left, Tracy made a surprise appearance at the house. She told him she loved him, and Dillon hugged and kissed her. Then, Edward had her taken back to Shadybrook. Days later, when Lulu went missing, Edward had Tracy released for a day to locate her stepdaughter. Tracy and Scott found her kissing Logan.
Tracy knew Logan was no good for Lulu and didn't want her near him. The other Quartermaines agreed and placed Lulu on house arrest when Tracy had to return to the mental hospital. Tracy tried to figure out what to do about Lulu's relationship and was wondering what Alan thought, but Alan's ghost didn't feel like himself. He realized that he was fading because Tracy was doing a good thing -- helping out Lulu. Alan decided to take a break from haunting her. Tracy was sad to see him go. She screamed, trying to get him to reappear but was interrupted when Nikolas entered. Tracy turned to him for help with Lulu. Tracy also turned to Edward for help, asking him to get her released so she could help Lulu, but he wouldn't budge. Soon after, Alan returned to haunting his sister, and Tracy challenged Scott and Logan to take a DNA test.
Tracy was eventually released from Shadybrook. She finally found proof that Scott and Logan were father and son. Luke returned, once again, after finding a place for Laura to be cared for, hidden from Scott. Tracy told Luke about Lulu and Scott's son. Lulu, having discovered that Logan had plotted against her with Maxie before he began to have genuine feelings for her, tossed him aside. Scott, furious that Luke had hidden Laura from him, offered to drop the charges against Luke if Lulu gave Logan another chance. Then she met Johnny Zacchara, a mob kingpin to whom she turned when she believed that Logan was the Text Message Killer. After hitting Logan on the head with a wrench and sending him to the hospital, Lulu realized Logan was innocent -- another murder had been committed while he was in a coma. But Lulu ended the relationship once Logan recovered.
Despite Tracy's machinations, Lulu and Johnny became close. Tracy and Luke worked to keep the nascent relationship from developing further. Alan's ghost returned, exclaiming that he did not want to be "damned to haunt the rest of the Quartermaines together, forever!" The family suffered a huge loss when Monica's adopted daughter, Emily, became the next victim of the Text Message Killer.
In 2008, Tracy warned Monica that she was in no condition to operate on Luke because of Alan and Emily's recent deaths. Monica disregarded Tracy's concerns and went forward with the procedure, but she froze during the operation. Tracy filed a malpractice suit against Monica. Monica kicked Tracy out of the mansion, but Tracy discovered that Monica had hit Sam McCall with her car and had fled the scene. Monica allowed Tracy, Luke, and Lulu to move back in.
Tracy and Luke left town because the IRS was investigating Luke's Haunted Star. Tracy returned to Port Charles alone to discover Lulu in bed with Johnny. Tracy's relationship with Monica began to thaw, and Tracy asked Monica's advice. Monica replied that Tracy should do everything in her power to keep Lulu safe. Tracy went to see Johnny in jail and told him she'd once been a mob boss. She told him that, if he really cared for Lulu, he'd get out of her life.
Logan had taken to stalking Lulu who, in self defense, stabbed him to death. Tracy had Luke tracked down. She went to Mexico, finding him in a bar, passed out drunk. As Tracy paid Luke's tab, a cop confronted them and alleged that Luke was wanted for destruction of property and failing to pay numerous bar tabs. Tracy paid the cop off, but another one showed up. She attempted to buy his silence, as well, but she and Luke were arrested. They eventually made bail and returned to Port Charles to support Lulu.
As the new year approached, Luke proclaimed his love for Tracy, but she shut him out and lied to him so he would believe they'd been divorced. Luke decided to win Tracy back. On New Year's Eve, Luke planned a surprise party for Tracy. Tracy thought that it was a stupid gesture and a waste of her time and money. While playing roulette, Tracy asked Luke what Laura's birthday was. He replied December 21st. Tracy issued Luke a challenge: if the ball landed on 21, Luke would give her a divorce and leave the country but, if it landed on 6 -- Tracy's Birthday -- she had to take him back. Miraculously, the ball landed on 6, and she relented, bringing in the new year with a passionate kiss.
In February 2009, several residents were trapped at General Hospital while a fire raged out of control and a bio-toxin was coursing through the ventilation system. Tracy was trapped in the boardroom with Edward, Anthony Zacchara, Carly Jacks, Ric Lansing, Sonny, and Nadine Crowell. After hours of terror, Tracy and the rest made it out of the building with only minor negative effects from the poison. Luke and newcomer Ethan Lovett had spent the night in jail. Tracy toyed with them, threatening to leave them in jail but eventually bailed them out.
Everyone soon learned that Holly had sent Ethan to Port Charles to learn who his biological parents were. Tracy was again infuriated because Luke ran off to rescue Holly in Asia. But that was simply one of Holly's manipulations to get Luke's attention. Returning to Port Charles, she eventually told everyone that she was Ethan's mother and that Robert was his father. However, Robert's daughter Robin confirmed that Robert had been nowhere near Holly at the time Ethan was conceived. Holly finally admitted that Ethan's father was Luke.
Unconvinced, Luke and Ethan demanded proof and had a paternity test. Tracy had the results of a DNA test rigged to show that Luke and Ethan were not related but Tracy did not know the true outcome. It was later determined that Ethan was, in fact, Luke's son. Holly soon thereafter departed town. True to form, Luke left town again, but Tracy refused to follow. Upon his return, he professed his undying love for Tracy and, in time, she warmed up to him.
In 2010, Sonny and Alexis' daughter, Kristina Davis, accused Ethan of beating her. The culprit was actually Kristina's boyfriend, Kiefer, but she was convinced Sonny would have Kiefer killed if he knew the truth, whereas Ethan was immune because of Sonny and Luke's friendship. Tracy didn't want to believe Ethan had done such a thing. Even though she told him she didn't know if it was true or not, Tracy bailed him out of jail. The truth was revealed, and Ethan was absolved.
Elizabeth Webber, Lucky's ex-wife and current fiancé, began a passionate affair with Nikolas. Luke knew of their dalliance and warned Elizabeth to end the affair. Lucky walked in on Nikolas and Elizabeth in bed, and all hell broke loose. Things got worse soon after when Elizabeth realized that she was pregnant but didn't know who the father was.
Helena hatched a new plot against the Spencers and rigged the DNA results to show that Nikolas was the father, even though Lucky really was. She wanted to raise a Spencer as a Cassadine and reveal at a later date her twisted plot. However, Tracy was immediately suspicious and began to poke around. In his effort to win Tracy's favor, Luke planned an elaborate anniversary party, but Tracy was a no-show. Helena had kidnapped her and was holding her hostage on the Cassadine island in Greece. Luke, disguised as Dr. Schemerman, went to rescue Tracy but was caught by Helena's henchman and locked in the dungeon with Tracy.
Luke attempted to get medical attention for Tracy, who feigned a terrible illness. But she wasn't faking -- Tracy was really afflicted with something that could be life-threatening. The pair began to reminisce about the start of their relationship as a married couple, going back to the drunken marriage in Las Vegas. After Tracy lost consciousness, Luke begged her to wake up, promising to make their marriage legal. Tracy's head popped up as she demanded to know what he meant.
Tracy was furious with Luke about the deception and shut him out. When she recovered from her illness, Tracy went back to the Quartermaine mansion, and Luke moved in with Lucky. When Luke broke into the mansion to see her, Tracy had him arrested. Hoping to make Tracy miss him, Luke took off. After he was gone, Tracy discovered that he had stolen ten million dollars from her. Lulu did her best to convince Tracy that Luke really loved her, but Tracy stood her ground. However, she continued to care about Luke's children. After Ethan was injured in a shooting at the hospital, Tracy moved him into the mansion and made caring for him a top priority.
Tracy finally admitted that she missed her "husband" and asked Lucky to help her find Luke and return him home. Lucky agreed, but, unbeknownst to the family, Lucky's real mission was to go undercover for Interpol in Ireland. During the mission, Lucky landed in jail. Luke, masquerading as a priest, showed up and managed to persuade Lucky's jailors to release Lucky into Luke's custody. Shortly afterwards, Lucky and Luke returned to Port Charles, where Luke persuaded his niece, Carly, to give him a room at Metro Court. Meanwhile, Tracy agreed to forgive Luke if he repaid the money that he had taken. Because Luke didn't have the money, he had to think of something else, so he faked a heart attack. Tracy didn't believe him at first, but Lulu begged Maya Ward, Tracy's great-niece, who was an intern at General Hospital, to alter the test results to show that Luke had suffered a massive coronary. It worked, and Luke moved back into the Quartermaine mansion.
After Luke's faux heart attack cover was blown, Luke convinced Tracy to repeat their Vegas wedding, this time for real. Tracy insisted that Ethan and Maya go with them as witnesses. This time around, they all got drunk, and when they woke up, May and Ethan were married. Tracy and Luke were not. Back in Port Charles, Luke pleaded with Tracy to marry him. Tracy agreed, but there were conditions. Not only would Luke have to sign a pre-nuptial agreement, but he would also have to give Tracy the wedding of her dreams without the use of the ten million he had stolen from her. Luke had no idea how he would pull it off, but he agreed anyway.
Tracy was secretly moved when Luke presented her with an engagement ring on Thanksgiving. To make him prove his love for her, Tracy asked Luke to marry her on Laura's birthday, December 21st. She asked Lulu to be her maid of honor. Lulu was worried that Luke would con Tracy and break her heart again. Tracy confided her fears that Luke would leave her at the altar to her granddaughter, Brook Lynn. While Luke struggled to acquire enough money to pay for the wedding, he fought his instinct to flee.
Tracy and Luke made it to the altar and, while family and friends thought it was Luke who would bail on his bride, Tracy turned the tables. It took her outspoken granddaughter, Brook Lynn, to convince her "granny" to go through with the wedding. Luke used a fake name on the pre-nup and signed it "Mr. Coyote." Tracy didn't seem to care, because she tore it up and threw it in the fireplace.
Luke was up to his old tricks when he used his honeymoon with Tracy as a cover for a jewel heist. When the Port Charles Police Department discovered the stolen gems at the Haunted Star, it was Tracy who was arrested. Tracy was so angry with her new husband that she refused Luke's offer to get her out of jail. She preferred to spend the night behind bars.
Tracy was very worried about the ramifications when she found out that Luke was the one who had down Lucky's son, Jake. Luke had consumed a couple of drinks that night but claimed he hadn't been drunk. After the accident, Luke was on a self-destructive downward spiral and was drinking nonstop. When Tracy discovered that Luke's passport was gone, his cigar box was empty, and the Haunted Star's safe was cleaned out, she realized that Luke was going on the run and had no intention of returning. The depth of Tracy's love for Luke was evident when she, Lucky, Lulu, Nikolas, Sonny, Carly, and Ethan staged an intervention. She told Luke in no uncertain terms that alcohol was stealing his soul, and she expected him to get treatment.
Luke refused to admit he had a problem with alcohol but Tracy held firm to the words she spoke at the intervention. She locked Luke out of the Haunted Star and told him they did not have a marriage until he got help. Eventually Luke acquiesced and allowed Tracy to take him to Shadybrook for rehab. She was disappointed to learn that Luke skipped out his treatment shortly after he arrived. Tracy turned her attention to Lulu instead. Lulu believed that if she renovated the Haunted Star, she could run it with her father upon his return. Tracy supported Lulu as she came to terms with the reality that working alongside her father would never happen.
With Luke gone, Tracy focused on ELQ and disagreed with her father's decision to hire Michael and his girlfriend Abby. Around the office, Tracy tried to intimidate Abby and Michael and frequently warned Edward that having Michael around would send a message that ELQ was open for business with the mob. Coincidentally, at the same time, Anthony Zacchara approached Tracy with his interest about becoming involved with ELQ. He flirted with Tracy and told her his interest was both personal and professional, although she rebuffed his advances.
Anthony remained adamant that he and Tracy would be a powerful couple together and he resorted to blackmail to prove his point. He threatened to inform the authorities and the Soleito family that Tracy had secretly funneled her ex-husband Gino Soleito's money into ELQ years ago. Anthony asked for Tracy's hand in marriage in exchange for his silence, but Tracy refused. She tried to stall Anthony as long as possible and used Luke's return as an excuse, although she pushed Luke away despite his claim he was sober.
Despite the return of her husband, Anthony continued his pursuit of Tracy and Luke gave his blessing to the couple by serving Tracy with divorce papers. Tracy was surprised Luke had not asked for a divorce settlement and she tried to figure out the game he was playing. Luke insisted there was no hidden agenda and Tracy asked if Luke had made any progress in reconnecting with his family. She shared the news that Luke had another grandson, as a new paternity test had revealed that Lucky, not Nikolas, was Aiden's father.
Tracy and Luke started to find their way back to one another and Tracy assumed the diamond she received for Christmas was from him. She was disappointed to learn it was actually from Anthony when he arranged for them to be trapped in an elevator together. Anthony presented Tracy with the setting for the diamond and proposed. She refused his proposal but Anthony knew she would be forced to marry him and he publically announced their engagement. Tracy repeatedly told Anthony she despised him and did not want anything to do with him. He laughed at Tracy's protests and he arranged for Maxie Jones to plan their nuptials.
Anthony kidnapped Tracy and held her hostage on a chartered boat, which was also the location of their wedding. Tracy remained disgusted with the thought of marriage to Anthony but he nicknamed her his "Venus" and said he would appreciate her spunk on the wedding night. Tracy held out hope that she could avoid the marriage when Luke crashed the wedding. She wanted Luke to stop the wedding but instead he stood in as Anthony's best man during the ceremony.
